Chapter 203 Let Aaron Leave with Nothing

Austin frowned at Daniel's words. "You should talk to Susanna first. Don't make decisions on your own. What if she gets upset?"

"I can handle this. Susanna doesn't need to worry. She was bullied by the Abbott family and left with nothing. You might tolerate it, but I can't," Daniel said confidently.

If Susanna ended up with nothing after the divorce, it would be a disgrace for Daniel as a lawyer.

Austin replied, "We're not short on money, and Susanna will soon be living with us in Novaria. There's no need to create unnecessary issues. She doesn't want any ties with the Abbott family."

"This isn't about ties! It's about fighting for Susanna's rights. Otherwise, Aaron will think she can be easily discarded. I'll handle it and talk to Susanna."

Daniel felt that as a top lawyer in Novaria, if Susanna ended up with nothing after the divorce, he might as well quit his job. She used to have no one to rely on, but now she wasn't alone. Why should she leave with nothing?

That afternoon, while Susanna was teaching, a sense of unease crept over her. She couldn't quite identify the source of this feeling.

Later, she sent the design draft to the person in charge via email, expecting it would need revisions since Peter wasn't easy to deal with, and Erica was causing trouble.

She wasn't confident the design draft would proceed smoothly. She had a strong hunch it would likely be returned for revisions.

On the other side, Peter received the design draft and immediately sent it to Brian: [Boss, what do you think of this design?]

Brian: [Why are you showing me such a poor design? Who designed this?]

Peter: [Boss, you instructed that the design drafts from the school should be reviewed by you personally. I think this design is quite childish and will definitely hold our team back! That's why I initially suggested replacing Susanna.]

Wait a minute!

Brian immediately sat up straight and called Peter. "You said this design draft is from the school?"

Peter acknowledged,"Yes, from a student named Susanna."

So it was Susanna's design!

Brian quickly said, "Well, actually, I didn't look at it carefully just now. Now that I've taken a closer look, I think this design is excellent, and the designer is very talented!"

Peter was utterly perplexed. Not a single word of his boss's explanation made sense to him. After a moment of silence, Peter managed to stammer out, "I think it's a bit childish."

Didn't Brian just say that? Why did he suddenly change his mind?

"How can you say that? If you can't get it, just zip it. It's totally one-of-a-kind! She's still a college student, so her designs are naturally different from those outside, but they're not tacky. It fits the school's background very well. I think it's great, let's keep it as is," Brian said as if it was precious.

Peter was a bit taken aback. "As is? No revisions?"

"Revisions for what? I think it's great, no need to change it."

Susanna had been practicing piano and working on the design draft diligently. If the design draft needed revisions, it would be exhausting for her.

Brian couldn't bear to see Susanna work so hard.

The concert was originally organized for Susanna, so even if her design was terrible, he would still think it was great.

Peter could only comply, but he still felt something was off. Could it be that Brian had taken a liking to this Susanna?

That was the only reasonable explanation!

Brian was a master at romance, after all. No wonder he suddenly wanted to perform at a university and thought such a childish design was great.

But Brian had never gone to such lengths for a girl before. At least, he had never used work to please a woman. This Susanna seemed different.

Peter suddenly wondered if his previous attitude towards Susanna had been too harsh. 'What if she became the boss's wife in the future?' he thought silently.

Later in the afternoon, Susanna got the news that her design draft had been greenlit. She found it hard to believe and questioned whether it had truly been approved just like that.

No revisions at all?

Susanna was still in disbelief. She confirmed several times with her counselor, and the answer was always the same: "Susanna, you should believe in your abilities. After all, you were the first-place winner in the last competition. Our school has high hopes for you."

"I understand. I'll keep working hard." Susanna felt a bit embarrassed by the counselor's praise.

She returned home in a daze, and Brian was already back. He asked tentatively, "Susanna, how did your design go? Was it approved?"

"It was approved in one go, without any revisions. I was actually prepared for revisions, but it was a pleasant surprise."

Susanna was a bit excited.

Brian patted her head. "Are you happy? I knew you could do it, Susanna."

"Yes, I'm happy. Now I don't have to make revisions and can start setting up the auditorium right away. We should still have enough time," said Susanna.

After quickly finishing her meal, Susanna went back to her room to start planning the auditorium setup. She had to begin working on it tomorrow to make sure everything was ready in time.

Brian smiled as he watched Susanna work so diligently. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.

The next day, Susanna went to the school early in the morning to start setting up the auditorium.

She was so engrossed in her tasks that she nearly passed out from hunger around noon. It wasn't until the baby in her belly began to protest that she finally ordered some takeout for herself.

After a satisfying meal and a drink, Susanna felt her energy levels gradually returning.

"The setup isn't that great. How did Peter approve your design with this level of quality?" Erica mocked.

"Erica, do you even need to ask? Susanna probably bribed Peter to get her design approved," Elaine echoed Erica's sentiments.

Erica's smile widened. "Elaine, don't say things without evidence."

Elaine sneered, "Do we need evidence? Everyone knows what kind of woman Susanna is and how she used underhanded means to marry into the Abbott family."

Susanna looked at the two women bantering and slammed her fork down. "I was wondering what that stench was. Turns out it's you two. I could smell it from a mile away. I thought the sewer had blown up."

Elaine retorted, "Susanna, who are you calling stinky? Did we say something out of line? You must have pulled some shady moves to get Peter to sign off on that hideous design, right?"

Susanna's face turned cold. "Elaine, spreading false rumors comes with consequences."

Elaine said, "I'll own up to it. That's just your style, isn't it? I'll spread the word around the school. Heard you were cozying up to Mr. Carter at a hotel last night. My buddy saw it all, so don't bother denying it."

Susanna nodded and took out her phone to call the police. "Hello, police? Someone's spreading rumors that I was at a hotel with a man. I think I might have been drugged and taken there without my knowledge. There are two witnesses here who can confirm it."
