Chapter 472 The Past Between Her and Aaron

Susanna strutted towards the banquet hall, not even glancing back. She wasn't about to waste her time with those nosy reporters, and she definitely wasn't in the mood to spill her personal tea for their headlines.

But after a few steps, she felt this weird sensation, like someone was staring at her. She turned to check it out but didn't spot anyone sketchy.

She scrunched her face. Was she just tripping?

Susanna shook it off and kept moving. Maybe she was just being paranoid today. As she walked into the hall, she noticed a bunch of eyes on her.

Yeah, they definitely knew about her ex, Aaron.

Aaron's name was all over the rumor mill, mixed with a bunch of other nonsense to keep people guessing.

Now, everyone knew she used to be hitched to the president of the Abbott Group.

"Susanna, what brings you to the banquet today?"

A sweet, bubbly girl bounced over, grabbing Susanna's arm like they were besties.

This was Owen's daughter, Amelia.

Susanna wasn't used to people being all up in her space, especially since she barely knew Amelia. They'd only met a couple of times, and they weren't exactly tight.

It was pretty obvious Amelia's sudden friendliness had something to do with Arthur!

Susanna forced a smile and said, "Heard there was a charity shindig, so I thought I'd check it out. Am I not welcome?"

"Of course, you're welcome! But I heard the president of the Abbott Group in Lindwell is your ex. Is that true?"

Susanna sighed internally. She knew this topic was gonna come up.

She coolly replied, "Ms. Richardson, my ex and I signed a confidentiality agreement, so I can't really talk about it."

She didn't confirm or deny anything.

Amelia was sharp and got the hint.

Amelia grinned and said, "Susanna, don't sweat it. I was just curious 'cause everyone's buzzing about who your ex is. Got a lot of guests today, including some big shots from Lindwell."

Susanna raised an eyebrow, "You didn't invite the Abbott family, did you?"

"Yeah, Susanna, I planned this charity gig ages ago. Back then, I had no clue about your deal with your ex. Inviting folks from Lindwell was just about networking; no shade intended."

Susanna nodded, "I'm not that petty. I get it. No worries."

Even if the Abbott family showed up, she wasn't scared of them.

"Susanna, I'm glad you're cool with it. I was kinda worried."

"Don't stress. My ex and I are ancient history. Even if we bump into each other, it's whatever."

Even though Amelia's personality wasn't her favorite, Susanna had to play nice because of her dad, Owen.

"Awesome, thanks. Got a lot of guests to mingle with today, so I better get to it."

"Go ahead, don't worry about me."

As Amelia walked off, Susanna's curiosity piqued. Who from the Abbott family got the invite? Could it be Aaron?

But if Amelia had really invited Aaron, she would've given her a heads-up, not just a vague mention of the Abbott family.

Now she was itching to know who from the Abbott clan was here.

Susanna followed and stepped into the banquet hall.

First thing, she scanned the room. No familiar faces popped out.

"Susanna."

A voice called out from beside her.

Susanna turned and saw Stella heading her way. She grinned and asked, "Stella, what brings you to the banquet today?"

Stella smiled back, "Anna's got a concert here, so I came to Philly for a visit."

"Anna's concert? Count me in! Austin didn't spill the beans about Anna's concert in Philly. He kept it on the down-low. My family didn't know either."

Susanna smiled at Stella and said, "Thanks for having my back with the Abbott family last time in Philly."

She already knew Stella, since she was Austin's girlfriend's sister. How could she not?

They'd teamed up to handle Elaine.

When Elaine came up, Stella chuckled, "Elaine still doesn't know the truth. But her fake goods scandal is all over our circle."

Stella remembered how Elaine shamelessly begged Susanna for luxury items and then flaunted them to her friends. It was pathetic.

But in the end, she got exposed and became a laughingstock, which was pretty satisfying.

Elaine always threw around the Abbott family name to bully others. In reality, she had nothing and just leeched off the Abbott's reputation.

Susanna said, "But I heard the Abbott family got an invite to today's shindig. Any idea who?"

Stella shook her head, "No clue."

Susanna was just curious.

"Susanna, I bet Elaine didn't get an invite. No one takes her seriously. And knowing Elaine, if she was invited, she'd be all over social media bragging about it."

Susanna nodded, "Makes sense."

"But Susanna, everyone's buzzing about your ex being the president of the Abbott Group."

"Yeah, I know. It's out there. At the signing ceremony hosted by Kayle and Roman, Aaron spilled the beans. No hiding it now."

"Susanna, let me tell you, people used to gossip behind your back, saying you got played by a thug and had a kid, which is why you kept your ex's identity under wraps. But now that they know your ex is Aaron, they're green with envy. You should've seen their faces."

Susanna had always known about these rumors but never let them get to her.

She said calmly, "Let them talk. I got no ties with the Abbott family now."

"Oh, how wonderful," came the sarcastic reply.
