Chapter 505 Please Do Me a Favor

Susanna knew Amelia had been through the wringer lately.

"Look, I was gonna do what you said, let the Richardson Family take Ramond in as my bro, but I just couldn't stomach it. I can't believe my dad would flip like that over Ramond. But when I talked to him, I realized I never really got him."

Amelia's voice cracked, and Susanna handed her a napkin. Amelia was a far cry from the confident woman who'd come back to town.

Susanna got where Amelia was coming from. Amelia had always looked up to her dad, only to find out he was all about having a son. He even brought in the illegitimate daughter's kid just to have a male heir in the Richardson Family.

Amelia dabbed her eyes and asked, "Susanna, are you disappointed in me? I thought I could handle it, but I just couldn't."

"Nah, you've done great. Most girls would've lost it by now. You just need some time to deal with this. It's not like you're out of options. With all the drama on Emerald Island, Owen's swamped and clueless."

"He had it coming." Amelia let out a bitter laugh. "My dad's been talking to folks from Emerald Island and is even discussing deals with the Abbott family, clearly trying to push your Jones family out. I tried to talk him out of it, but he's set."

"Our Jones family teamed up with Owen back then because of Paige, not Owen. So, we won't turn on your Richardson Family over this. Don't worry, Edward's not like that."

Susanna needed to win Amelia over and make her position clear. She only wanted to deal with Vivian.

"That's why I think my dad's moves are sketchy and risky. The Emerald Island people are shady and ambitious. What's he gonna get out of working with them?"

Susanna paused. "Owen's got his own plans. He feels overshadowed by the Jones family and wants to be the top dog in Philly, which makes sense."

"He wants to be the richest guy in Philly? If it weren't for my mom, he'd be nowhere. His family would've gone under ages ago. My mom's been handling all the money for years. Does he really think getting rich is that easy?"

Amelia sneered. She thought with all the help Owen got from Paige, now that Paige's health was failing and Owen's career was solid, he should be treating Paige better.

But Amelia didn't expect Owen to go to such extremes for a male heir. Didn't he get how much it would hurt Paige to bring Raymond home?

For a moment, Susanna was at a loss for words.

Half an hour later, Amelia finally chilled out. She looked at Susanna with a serious face and said, "Susanna, I need a favor."

"What's up?"

"I've always had a thing for Arthur. My dad wanted to set us up when I got back, but Arthur blew off the blind date. So, I need your help."

Susanna was caught off guard for a sec.

Then she said, "Sorry, I can help with a lot, but not this."

Amelia gave a sad smile. "I know it's a big ask. With my family's mess right now, I'm not exactly a catch for Arthur."

"It's not about your family's drama. Arthur doesn't care about that stuff when it comes to finding a wife; he's got his own high standards. He's not as easygoing as you might think. He's a great brother, but maybe not a great husband."

Amelia shook her head. "You're too humble. Most of your brothers are pretty awesome, except for a couple."

Susanna knew exactly who Amelia meant.

Susanna repeated, "I can help with other stuff, but not this."

"Okay, I get it. But can you at least set up a meeting with Arthur? I just want a chance to see him and talk."

Susanna hesitated. She knew Arthur wouldn't meet someone he wasn't into.

Seeing Susanna's hesitation, Amelia added, "I promise I'll help you deal with Vivian and back you up all the way. If the Richardson Family gets through this, we'll stand with the Jones family."

Hearing Amelia's offer, Susanna agreed. "Alright, I'll set up a meeting with Arthur, but no promises."

When Amelia first asked for help, Susanna didn't want Arthur to feel pressured into anything.

She wasn't going to let anything mess with Arthur's happiness.

But if it was just a meal and Amelia could talk to Arthur herself, that was doable.

After all, setting up a meal to get the Richardson Family on their side was a solid move.

Since Owen was cozying up to Vivian, Susanna needed to win over Amelia.

Amelia sighed in relief. "Thanks. Whether it works out or not, I'll remember your help today."

Amelia had tried asking friends and elders for help recently, but they all blew her off.

She realized that after Paige stepped back, all her friends had become Owen's friends. She was on her own.

They chatted for a bit, and Susanna checked the time. "It's getting late. How about we grab a bite?"

They headed to a nearby private restaurant.

But as soon as Susanna got to the door, she saw a familiar face. It was Maud.

The next second, Maud stormed up to her. "Susanna, we need to talk."
