Chapter 237 Betrayal from a Friend

Susanna couldn't believe it. "No way!"

As she thought it over, Susanna wondered, 'Could Wendy have really reported me?'

Wendy, standing nearby, looked horrified. "Susanna, I swear it wasn't me! This is all a setup. I'd never do that."

Susanna glanced at Wendy, feeling unsure. "Could it be a mistake?"

Wendy quickly nodded. "It has to be."

Susanna couldn't believe Wendy reported her. They had no beef, and Wendy had no reason to do it.

Aaron narrowed his eyes. "Are you doubting my skills?"

Susanna hesitated, then said, "Could Wendy have been framed?"

Wendy almost cried with relief. "Susanna, I must have been framed. I have no reason to report you."

Aaron looked at the principal. "Show the evidence."

The principal checked his phone, his face changing. "Wendy, we have your report and your IP address. Explain this."

Susanna stared at the screen, shocked. "Why would you do this?"

Wendy grabbed her hand, pleading. "Susanna, these photos are fake. I didn't do it. Think about it, I have no reason to."

Susanna's mind raced. She struggled to believe Wendy could have reported her. Aaron had no reason to lie.

Though Aaron was annoying, he was competent. The truth was clear.

Susanna took Wendy's hand. "Wendy, I know you wouldn't do this. You must have been framed."

"Yes, I was framed. Someone's setting me up!"

"Alright, let's find the real culprit. We'll go to the police and let them investigate," Susanna said, leading Wendy outside. But Wendy stopped, refusing to move.

Susanna turned, concerned. "What's wrong, Wendy?"

Wendy suddenly knelt. "I'm sorry, Susanna. It's all my fault. I was jealous and tried to ruin you."

Susanna took a deep breath, the truth hitting hard.

She looked down at Wendy. "But I never wronged you. Was it just jealousy?"

"I was out of my mind. We both came from the orphanage, but you have a better life and meet great guys. I was just jealous. Please forgive me. You're my only friend."

Susanna pushed Wendy's hand away. "Now I see why you have no friends. No one wants to be friends with a bad person."

She turned and ran out of the office.

Aaron looked at the principal. "You know what to do, right?"

The principal nodded. "Mr. Abbott, don't worry. We'll follow the rules and take action."

Wendy was in complete despair, but after wiping her tears, she stood up. She wasn't afraid because she had Erica's support. Erica had promised to help her.

After leaving the office, Wendy immediately called Erica. "Ms. Jones, there's trouble at school. My anonymous report was discovered. And Susanna and Mr. Abbott are actually married. Why didn't you tell me this earlier?"

Erica learned from Wendy that Aaron had personally gone to the school and publicly revealed his marriage to Susanna!

She was furious. "How could you mess up so quickly?"

The worst part was that Aaron had publicly revealed his relationship with Susanna, which was a boon for Susanna.

Wendy was even more useless than Elaine.

"Ms. Jones, what should I do? The school will definitely punish me. Didn't you say you would help me and ensure I was safe?" Wendy was concerned about herself.

"Alright, just wait for further instructions." Erica hung up and looked at her secretary. "When does Edward arrive in Lindwell?"

"Tomorrow's flight."

"Arrange a time for me to pick him up," Erica instructed.

"Should we prepare Wendy in advance to prevent her from saying the wrong thing?" The secretary asked.

Erica was annoyed. "No need. Telling her in advance might expose us. Anyway, someone as vain as Wendy will definitely fall for it. Just like last time when I said I was looking for a childhood friend, Wendy immediately replaced Susanna."

As long as Wendy replaced Susanna, her position would be secure.

After leaving the principal's office, Susanna strolled alone along a secluded school path, her thoughts in turmoil.

She had entertained suspicions that Elaine or Erica might be involved, but discovering Wendy's role left her stunned. It was a revelation that was more than she could bear.

After a few steps, two men appeared nearby. They didn't look like students. Seeing Susanna alone, one of them approached and said, "Hey, feeling down?"

"Come have a drink with us. Talking about it might make you feel better."

Susanna realized something was wrong. When she turned to leave, the two men blocked her way.

She looked up and shouted, "Get out of the way! This is a school. If you do anything, you won't get away with it!"

"Why are college girls so feisty?"

One of the men reached out to grab her, but a cold voice came from the depths of the path. "Take your filthy hands off her!"

Susanna looked in the direction of the voice and saw a man emerging from the darkness, walking against the light. His long face was hard to see in the shadows, but his sharp eyes were piercing.

It was Aaron!

She immediately showed a look of surprise. "Honey, I'm here!"

The two men panicked upon hearing her affectionate "honey." They quickly realized the inappropriateness of their actions in a school setting, and with a silent exchange of glances, they made a hasty retreat in the opposite direction.

Susanna took the opportunity to run towards Aaron. "I was really scared just now."

In that instant, her mind went blank, and she berated herself for venturing down the secluded path alone. The realization struck her that any harm that befell her could also jeopardize the safety of the precious life growing inside her belly.

As Aaron enveloped her in a comforting embrace, he soothingly patted her back and reassured, "It's alright now. I'm by your side."

Susanna's eyes welled up with tears instantaneously. Her voice choked with emotion as she questioned, "Why did you follow me?"
