Chapter 33 The Fight with Erica

As soon as Erica heard that, she immediately signed the withdrawal statement electronically.

Seeing her sign, Susanna finally breathed a sigh of relief. This trip wasn't in vain after all.

Erica's words were harsh, but she signed with just a little push. Compared to Aaron, this was a breeze.

Just as Susanna was about to leave, Erica's voice came from behind. "Susanna, I have one more question. What's your relationship with the man who came to the last dinner party?"

She turned slightly, her expression calm. "That's my private business, no comment."

Erica was annoyed. "I was actually happy you found your place. After all, we're not from the same world, and this is better for both of us. But it seems you haven't changed a bit. Let me give you a piece of advice: stop reaching for things you can't have, or you'll end up getting hurt."

Susanna raised an eyebrow. "You're right, but I have a piece of advice for you too."

Erica glared at Susanna. "What advice?"

"You had Calliope change the furniture here, which made Aaron furious. Even the only servant you had here got fired. This shows you don't understand Aaron well enough. The reason mistresses can't become wives is because they don't try hard enough." Susanna's tone was firm.

Erica shot up from her seat, "Who are you calling a mistress?"

Susanna replied, "It's not me saying it, it's the law. Aaron and I haven't divorced yet. What do you think you are..."

Before Susanna could finish, a sharp pain shot through the back of her head. Erica had grabbed her hair.

Erica's face was pale with rage as she slapped Susanna's face repeatedly, yelling, "Do you really see yourself as someone who can rival me?! You, a woman from the slums! Who has given you such nerve?"

Susanna grabbed Erica's hair in return and squeezed her wrist hard, forcing her to let go. She twisted Erica's waist. "And what do you think you are? Even with your good family background, it doesn't change the fact that you're the other woman!"

Erica trembled with anger, but she wasn't as strong as Susanna. Soon, Susanna had the upper hand. Just as she was about to strike, someone suddenly stopped her. Susanna looked up and saw Aaron.

Aaron forcefully pulled Susanna's hand away and shouted, "Stop it! What are you doing?"

Seeing him return, Erica immediately threw herself into Aaron's arms, pitifully saying, "Aaron, you're finally back. My head hurts, and my hand hurts too."

Susanna was stunned. After a moment, a hint of sarcasm flashed in her eyes. She wondered if Aaron had been back for a while and only showed up when he saw Erica being bullied.

Susanna straightened her back and stubbornly looked at him, "She started it this time too, but I know you won't believe me. Whatever."

She turned to leave, and behind her, Erica's pitiful voice echoed, "Aaron, it hurts so much."

Susanna looked up at the ceiling, never turning back.

"Stop!" Aaron's cold voice stopped her in her tracks. She mustered the courage to turn around and face Aaron and Erica standing together. "What now?"

Erica stood there, looking fragile. "Aaron, let it go."

Susanna tilted her head defiantly. "What, you want to hit me back?"

Aaron frowned, his eyes scanning her disheveled hair and the small cut on her lip. His gaze deepened, and he couldn't help but ask, "Does it hurt?"

Susanna was surprised. Was he concerned about her?

Behind them, Erica's expression changed instantly upon hearing his words.

Realizing his slip, Aaron quickly changed the subject. "Weren't you here to deliver the design plans? Where are they?"

Susanna smirked. "Ms. Jones already confirmed them for you."

Aaron's frown deepened. "Her confirmation means nothing. I haven't seen them yet. Do you want me to withdraw the complaint or not?"

"Don't worry about it," Susanna said nonchalantly. "Ms. Jones already signed the withdrawal for you. The design plans are on the table. Congrats on your upcoming wedding."

With that, Susanna practically ran out of the Abbott Villa. She didn't want to stay there a second longer.

In the villa's grand hall, Aaron watched her disappearing figure. He turned back to Erica, his face cold. "Who told you to sign?"

Erica's expression was uneasy. "Aaron, Susanna begged me, and her design plans were quite good this time. I didn't want to make things too difficult for her, considering you two were once married."

"If you don't believe me, ask Brenda. She was there the whole time." Erica's eyes flickered under Aaron's scrutinizing gaze. But Aaron didn't look at Brenda; instead, he pointed to the corner and the staircase where the surveillance cameras were.

When Erica saw the cameras, her face went pale. She quickly tried to explain, "Aaron, I can explain. Just now, I really—"

"No need to explain," Aaron cut her off and turned to Brenda. "What are you here for?"

Erica forced a smile. "I brought some food for you. I also sent some to Aunt Maud."

"That's unnecessary. Don't do these things anymore. Brenda, see Ms. Jones out." Aaron casually picked up the design plans on the table and flipped through them. He didn't look up until Erica had left.

Back home, Susanna noticed the cut on her lip.

Madison saw the bruise on her face and the cut on her lip, looking worried. "What happened? Who hit you?"

"No one, I just accidentally bumped into something," Susanna replied.

Susanna realized her face was also injured. She quickly checked in the mirror and then turned to see Madison still looking concerned. She quickly changed the subject. "I picked out a few houses. Madison, take a look and see which one you like."

"Susanna, isn't Edward in the real estate business? Why not ask him?" Madison suggested.

"Good idea. I'll ask him. Maybe he has some connections that can help us out," Susanna said.
