Chapter 474 Some People Just Need to Be Taught a Lesson
Maud was so mad she felt like she was gonna hurl.
She couldn't wrap her head around Susanna having the guts to mess with her, especially since she was Lillian's grandma!
She wanted to get Lillian back, thinking it’d be way better for the kid.
Ivy jumped in, "Maud, we gotta figure out how to get Lillian back. Aaron's still single and kid-free. If Elaine pops out a kid, she might snag the Abbott family's loot."
Maud nodded, "Yeah, but the Jones family’s got cash too. They won’t just hand her over."
"Maud, sure, the Jones family’s rolling in it, but that dough’s for her brothers, not Susanna. What’s she gonna get when she ties the knot? But if she gives Lillian to the Abbotts, she could score big. Susanna’s got a lot to gain."
"True. I’ll chat with Susanna later."
She had to get Lillian back. Even if it was a girl, it was better than having no kids and leaving all that family fortune hanging.
"Maud, you don’t gotta do this alone. I’ll talk to Susanna."
Maud sighed in relief. Getting old, seeing everyone with grandkids, and the Abbotts had none, it bummed her out.
The only kid, Ramond, wasn’t even Aaron’s.
All the love she gave Ramond over the years would be for nothing! She wished Ramond was Aaron’s real son.
Thinking about Ramond made Maud’s blood boil.
Since Ramond wasn’t Aaron’s, why did Aaron leave him with the Abbotts? It was a head-scratcher!
At the auction.
Susanna snagged a front-row VIP seat, and when she looked up, she saw Maud coming. But Maud didn’t sit next to her, she sat a bit away.
Looked like Amelia was sharp, keeping her distance from the Abbotts.
As the auction was about to kick off, Susanna didn’t see Owen.
Wasn’t Owen supposed to be here?
Most folks showed up today because of Owen.
Susanna whipped out her phone and texted her secretary: [Find out why Mr. Richardson isn’t at the charity event.]
The auction started.
Susanna was just there to show face, so she casually raised her paddle, but Maud copied her!
Once could be a fluke, but doing it over and over was on purpose.
Susanna shot a look at Maud, who was smugly fiddling with her jeweled bracelet, looking all pleased.
Stella huffed, "Susanna, Maud’s too much. She’s totally doing it on purpose."
"I know, chill."
Susanna raised her paddle for every item, doubling the bids each time.
After a few rounds, Maud caught on that Susanna was just messing around and stopped copying.
Susanna turned to Maud with a smirk.
Maud was fuming, clenching her teeth.
Susanna got a message from her secretary: [Mr. Richardson is at the charity event, but he’s meeting someone upstairs, so he hasn’t shown up.]
Susanna replied: [Find out who Mr. Richardson is meeting and have someone keep an eye on his room. Let me know the second he leaves.]
She had to see Owen today.
After snagging an item, Susanna headed to the restroom.
She pulled out her phone to chat with her team about the project. If she ran into Owen, she had to convince him to keep it going.
"Susanna, don't waste your breath. Mr. Richardson ain't gonna hand you that project easily."
Susanna turned to see Maud and Ivy.
Ivy had been a pain in her neck for ages.
Susanna hung up and said, "Whether I get the project or not isn’t your call."
"True, but Aaron’s got a say."
Hearing that, Susanna realized the big company from Lindwell was the Abbott Group.
Was Aaron doing this on purpose?
Did he know she was leading the project and decided to mess with her?
Maud smirked, "Susanna, now you see how powerful Aaron is?"
Susanna leaned against the sink, "No matter how powerful Aaron is, in Philly, he’s still just my bodyguard."
That made Maud see red. "Susanna, don’t bring that up. Why did you screw up Calum’s deal with the Thornberry family? What’s in it for you?"
So Maud came to Philly for Calum.
Susanna sneered, "First off, I didn’t screw up anything. Aaron didn’t want the Abbott Group’s subsidiary working with the Thornberry family. What’s that got to do with me?"
Ivy jumped in, "You say it’s got nothing to do with you? Didn’t Roman get engaged to you? Aaron must’ve been swayed by you to nix the deal."
"I’m not blind. Why would I be into Roman?"
"A divorced woman with a kid, what right do you have to look down on him? With Lillian, you won’t remarry easily. Just leave Lillian with the Abbott family."
Susanna’s face turned icy. She thought, 'They’re really not giving up.'
She stepped up to Ivy and said, "I’ve said it before, I’m not giving Lillian’s custody to the Abbott family. You should drop it."
"Susanna, giving up Lillian’s custody is for your own good. Sure, your family’s rich, but the assets belong to your brothers. As a girl, you’ve got nothing but a fancy facade. If you leave Lillian with the Abbotts, she can inherit their assets."
"Inherit the Abbott family’s assets?"
Susanna looked at Maud like she was nuts. "Aaron’s not dead. He’ll have kids in the future. Why are you in such a rush? Do you think Aaron’s not gonna make it past tomorrow?"
"Cut the bullshit! He’s fine. I just don’t want the Abbott bloodline raised elsewhere. If Aaron has a son later, I’ll think about giving Lillian some assets."
"Sorry, but Lillian’s already richer than you. She was born with a DivineDynasty custom super VIP card. She doesn’t need your handouts."
Susanna turned and walked out of the restroom.
Ivy blocked her, "Face it, your daughter’s just holding you back. Without her, you could marry someone better."
Susanna was getting fed up. "My daughter’s not holding me back."
"Then why haven’t you remarried in four years as the Jones family heir? Isn’t it because of her?"
Susanna slapped Ivy, her hand stinging.
