Chapter 216 A Lesson to Rude Person

The elevator quickly hit the first floor. Once everyone rushed out, it finally felt roomy.

But then, the middle-aged woman with a kid blocked the door, like she was trying to trap Susanna and Aaron inside. She started yelling, "You young folks have no respect for elders and kids!"

Susanna, tucked in the corner, looked up at Aaron and whispered, "We're here." She was hinting that he didn't need to shield her anymore.

Aaron got the message, straightened up, and stepped back, making things a bit awkward.

Susanna felt her cheeks heat up. She glanced down, then slowly looked up again, catching sight of Aaron's tall frame.

Aaron turned to the woman blocking the door, frowning. He wasn't used to this kind of scene, being more familiar with private hospitals.

Just then, Tyler showed up with some tall bodyguards, standing right behind the cursing woman.

The woman shivered when she saw the bodyguards. She stammered, "What do you want? Are you thugs? My son is a top exec at Abbott Group. Mess with me, and he'll make you pay!"

Susanna couldn't help but laugh.

What a coincidence.

She looked at the woman and said, "Do you know who this handsome guy is? He's from Abbott Group too."

The woman straightened up, "It's not the same. My son is a senior executive."

Aaron's lips curled into a cold smile, "Which department is he in, and what's his name?"

"He's in some development department. Why? You wanna get back at him? No need, he's coming to pick me up soon."

Just as she finished, a middle-aged man walked in. She yelled, "Clayton, come here, someone's bullying me!"

Clayton's face went pale when he saw Aaron. He stammered, "Mom, what are you doing?"

"Clayton, these two young people bullied me in the elevator! Now they have these men in black wanting to hit people. This is a society ruled by law!"

The woman felt more confident seeing Clayton.

Aaron smirked at Clayton, "Is this your mom?"

"Sorry, Mr. Abbott," Clayton stammered, visibly shaking. "My mom's from the countryside and still adjusting to city life. Please don't judge her too harshly."

The woman was shocked to see Clayton being so polite, "Clayton, who is he?"

Susanna chimed in, "Ma'am, didn't I say this man is also from Abbott Group? And guess what, he's the president of Abbott Group!"

"President? Like the boss?" The woman finally realized she was in deep trouble.

Clayton quickly said, "Mom, apologize to Mr. Abbott right now!"

Aaron's voice was icy, "No need. You can collect your paycheck from HR tomorrow."

Clayton's face went pale. "Mr. Abbott, please reconsider. My mom didn't know who you were. This is just a big misunderstanding. I have a family to support; I can't lose this job!"

The woman, initially panicked, quickly regained her composure. "Clayton, why are you so scared? You're smart and capable. You'll find another executive position easily."

Aaron snorted, "With his mediocre skills, don't flatter yourself."

Aaron turned and walked away. Susanna followed, glancing back at the arguing woman and Clayton, feeling a sense of satisfaction.

The woman's arrogance suggested she was used to getting her way. If Clayton had set boundaries earlier, this might have been avoided.

It was clear—Clayton was likely just as arrogant.

Who knew how many people he'd mistreated, but today he met someone who wouldn't tolerate it. Susanna felt no sympathy for him.

She caught up to Aaron, who asked, "Do you think I went too far?"

Susanna hesitated.

Aaron continued coldly, "Clayton's average at best. He slacks off, bullies newbies, and steals their ideas. He's been at the bottom of the performance chart for two years, but his boss covers for him."

Hearing this, Susanna knew her guess was right. With a mother like that, what kind of son could she raise?

She quickly responded, "I didn't say that."

Outside, a luxury car was parked by the curb. Aaron stood by the door, looking at her. "Get in."

Susanna's heart raced, thinking of Aaron's protective behavior earlier. She bit her lip, searching for an excuse to refuse when Aaron spoke again. "Am I that scary?"

As she walked towards him, Aaron's tense expression softened a bit.

But then, another car pulled up.

Daniel got out, looking worried. "Susanna!"

Hearing Daniel's voice, Susanna turned, surprised he found her so quickly.

She stopped and asked, "Why are you here?"

Daniel hurried over, checking her over. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Susanna shook her head. "I had a sudden drop in blood sugar at school and passed out. Mr. Abbott took me to the hospital."

Daniel looked up and saw Aaron, a wary look in his eyes. So it was Aaron who brought Susanna to the hospital.

Seeing the Joneses , Aaron's face tightened. Thatfamily really was persistent!

The two men exchanged unfriendly glances.

Daniel stepped between Susanna and Aaron, glaring at Aaron. "Mr. Abbott, thank you for bringing Susanna to the hospital. I'll treat you to a meal to thank you next time."

Aaron felt a pang of irritation. "It's my duty to bring my wife to the hospital. No need for your thanks."

Daniel gritted his teeth. "Mr. Abbott, you and Susanna have signed the divorce agreement. You're not a couple anymore."
