Chapter 326 Are You Trying to Pursue Me?
Susanna started rummaging through her suitcase, trying to figure out which dress to rock for the evening.
As she checked out her options, she shot a look at Abel, "What's on your mind?"
"Ms. Jones, Mr. Edward told me to let him know if you ever run into your ex-hubby," Abel said.
Susanna froze. "So, why are you telling me this now?"
"Ms. Jones, I gotta respect your wishes," Abel replied, all polite.
Susanna chuckled. "Abel, you really know how to handle people. But chill, I'm not into my ex, and I'm not about to lose it. Edward's just scared I'll freak out if I see him. Look at me, I'm totally fine."
Four years back, Susanna had a nasty accident that almost killed her kid. She lost all her memories after that.
Abel sighed, looking at Susanna. He had something he couldn't say, 'Ms. Jones, you got it wrong. Aaron is your ex!'
Seeing Abel's worried face, Susanna said, "Just call my shrink and ask if I'm okay, so you can stop stressing."
After thinking it over, Abel decided to hit up the psychologist first. He quickly turned and called, explaining the whole situation.
The psychologist's deep voice came through. "You mean she mistook her ex for someone else?"
"Yeah, should I remind her?" Abel asked.
"Not yet. Let's try a desensitization experiment first. I was worried she'd remember the stuff I hypnotized away if she saw him. If she doesn't remember, keep quiet. If she does, you won't have to say a word," the psychologist suggested.
Abel sighed deeply, wondering if Susanna coming to Radiant Valley was a bad idea. But with Lillian secretly there, he couldn't help but think fate had a weird way of bringing everyone together.
Susanna picked out a dress, changed, and did her makeup, looking both classy and hot.
Lillian ran over, all excited. "Mommy, you look amazing!"
Susanna patted Lillian's head. "Stay here, sweetie. I'm gonna see if he can be your new daddy."
"Okay, Mommy, good luck!"
Susanna grabbed her bag and strutted out in her high heels. No way was she meeting Aaron in her own room!
Humming a tune, she walked to the room she had booked. But when she opened the door, it was empty. What the heck? Aaron was late.
Usually, in these meet-ups, the guy shows up first. Aaron's mysterious behavior was throwing Susanna off; he was a tough nut to crack!
Susanna poured herself a glass of red wine. This was her go-to test for guys. Almost none had passed.
A soft knock came at the door. Susanna looked over and called out, "Come on in, it's open."
But the knocking didn't stop. She frowned and walked over. "Didn't I say it's open? Who is it?"
A hotel staff member stood there, saying respectfully, "Ms. Ramirez, Mr. Abbott asked me to take you somewhere."
'Somewhere?' she thought, a bit surprised.
Turning back to the room with a sly smile, she said, "Lead the way."
Blown away by Aaron’s knack for surprises, Susanna couldn't wait to see what he had up his sleeve next.
She followed the staff member to the elevator, heading straight to the top floor. Her eyes widened; she knew what was up there.
Being a regular at the hotel, she was well aware of the secrets this exclusive floor held! Entering the glass room on the top floor with the staff member, Susanna spotted Aaron, staring out at the sea under the gloomy sky. The usual blue had turned a stormy dark gray, matching the weather outside.
Susanna walked over. "When the weather's nice, the sea's all blue and pretty."
Hearing her voice, Aaron turned to look at Susanna—she was rocking a black dress with bright red lips, looking all mysterious and stunning.
He'd never seen this side of Susanna before, never imagined she could look so grown-up.
"Mr. Abbott, what are you staring at?" Susanna asked, feeling like his gaze was a bit off, like he was seeing someone else through her.
Aaron moved behind her and pulled out a chair. "Have a seat."
"Thanks."
Susanna sat down without a second thought, eyeing the mature and handsome Aaron in front of her. "Didn't think Mr. Abbott would invite me here! A candlelight dinner in the room ain't bad either."
Aaron, slicing through his steak with ease, said, "Probably best not to talk about this in front of Lillian."
"Mr. Abbott, did you really think I'd invite you to my room? Just 'cause I'm not the best mom doesn't mean I have no boundaries," Susanna shot back.
"My bad, I let my mind wander," Aaron admitted, passing her the sliced steak and swapping plates with a smooth gesture.
Susanna looked at the cut steak in front of her, picked up a fork, and took a bite. "The steak's pretty good."
Judging by the quality, Aaron hadn't skimped. A guy willing to drop a hundred million bucks definitely had status and cash.
Susanna looked at him and asked, "Mr. Abbott, you from Lindwell like Sam?"
"Yeah."
"So, what do you do in Lindwell, Mr. Abbott?"
"I'm a businessman, running the family biz," Aaron replied.
Raising an eyebrow, Susanna said, "Must be a pretty sweet gig, huh?"
Looked like he came from money after all!
Aaron stayed cool. "It's all family stuff. Ms. Ramirez, you from Novaria?"
Susanna's hand paused. "Did Lillian tell you that?"
She was using a fake identity in Radiant Valley; no one knew her real background!
Aaron nodded. "Yeah."
'Lillian, you little snitch!' Susanna thought.
With a sly smile, she teased, "Mr. Abbott, you trying to win me over by digging into my past?"
Aaron looked up at her deeply. Four years, he'd been searching for four years. His eyes lingered on the teardrop mole at the corner of her eye, and he made a subtle move to touch it, but she quickly dodged.
Susanna leaned back in her chair, her eyes distant. "Mr. Abbott, we're not that close. Isn't that a bit much?"
She felt a bit let down; men were so predictable.
Aaron's lips parted as he spoke softly, "Sorry, has that tear mole been there since you were a kid?"
"Yeah." Susanna found it a bit weird. Why was he asking this?
