Chapter 403 Are You Trying to Threaten Me?

Aaron caught her wary look and said, "Hey, can we chat alone?"

Susanna nodded, signaling the doc and the bodyguards to scram.

This was Lindwell, after all. If she clashed with Aaron now, it could get messy later.

She couldn't afford any screw-ups right now!

Soon, it was just the two of them, but the air was thick with tension.

Susanna cut to the chase, "What do you wanna talk about?"

Aaron had just stopped the doc from shipping the bone marrow to Novaria. Was he having second thoughts?

Aaron started, "With everything going on, I think we should kick off the final treatment here in Lindwell. What do you think?"

Her heart skipped a beat; she knew it.

She had a feeling Aaron would pull this.

Susanna stayed cool, "I don't think so."

Aaron frowned, "If it's about the treatment, don't sweat it. Lillian's my daughter, and I'll make sure she gets top-notch care, just like in Novaria."

The real deal was, he didn't want Michael treating Lillian.

He hadn't known he had a kid, let alone that Lillian was his. Now that he knew, he didn't want another dude in the mix.

"Aaron, don't you think you're being a bit much? Are you threatening me?"

"I'm not threatening you; I'm just making a fair suggestion."

She shot back, "Your suggestion isn't fair. Don't bring it up again."

"Susanna Millier!"

"Sorry, it's Susanna Jones now."

They were at a standstill, neither budging.

Aaron locked eyes with her, his jaw tight. "Susanna, I get you're still mad about the past, but Lillian's my daughter too. She deserves her dad around. You can't just cut me out."

"Sorry, I don't remember the past, and you can't use it against me."

"Are you still playing that card? You think I'll buy that you lost your memory?"

"Believe what you want, but I don't remember us. To me, you're just some guy. If it weren't for Lillian's illness and needing a bone marrow match, do you think I'd be here?"

Aaron was stumped because he knew she was right. As the heiress of the Jones family, she had plenty of ways to stay hidden, just like she had for the past four years.

"Aaron, maybe you've had a change of heart and wanna make things right with me and Lillian, but let me be straight with you. The best way to make amends is to leave us alone and let me send the bone marrow back to Novaria for her treatment."

Aaron's brow furrowed, "You think I'm using the bone marrow to make you cave?"

That wasn't his plan at all. He was just suggesting what he thought was best for Lillian. He didn't expect her to twist his words like that.

"Isn't it obvious? You knew I wouldn't go for it, so you blocked me from sending the bone marrow to Novaria, didn't you?"

They locked eyes, neither backing down.

Finally, Aaron sighed, "I won't stop you from sending it to Novaria."

"Good call."

Seeing him relent, Susanna didn't waste a second.

She called out to the doc waiting outside, "Get the bone marrow ready to ship to Novaria."

Then she turned to her assistant, "Is the chopper ready?"

The assistant nodded, "Yep, it's on the rooftop. As soon as the bone marrow's on board, we're outta here. We'll keep an eye on everything to make sure it goes smooth."

"Great, thanks. Keep me posted during the trip."

She couldn't relax until the bone marrow was safely in Novaria.

Just then, her phone buzzed. It was Michael. His deep voice came through, "I heard you found the bone marrow?"

"Yeah, we did. It was close, but it never left the hospital. The docs checked it, and it's still good to go."

Susanna almost teared up. She'd been bracing for the worst.

Michael's voice was steady, "Then get back here ASAP."

Susanna paused, "Okay, I'll be back."

She wouldn't miss Charles's treatment for anything.

She'd been so focused on getting the bone marrow to Novaria, she hadn't thought about going back herself. Michael's reminder was spot on.

After hanging up, Susanna turned to Aaron, "Thanks for finding the bone marrow. I'll let you know how it goes once the kid's better."

"You're leaving?"

"Yeah, I can't miss her treatment. I'll be there the whole time."

Aaron had figured she'd head straight to Novaria once the bone marrow was found. That's why he wanted her to stay in Lindwell with Lillian.

Susanna added, "I'll send the special meds once I'm back in Novaria. Hope Mrs. Maria Abbott's treatment goes well."

Hearing about the meds, Aaron said, "Alright. If she finds out both meds are from you, she'll be over the moon when she wakes up."

Susanna didn't feel any joy about this.

She didn't remember anything about the Abbott family.

They hadn't liked her back then, and she figured Maria probably didn't either. So she didn't take Aaron's words to heart.

Aaron then asked, "Since the bone marrow's found, can you let Ramond go?"

"Sure, no problem. I keep my word. As long as the bone marrow's found and my kid's safe, Ramond's free."

Just as Susanna finished, her assistant came up. "Ms. Jones, the chopper's ready and waiting."

Susanna nodded and looked at Aaron. "Until next time, goodbye."

"Wait."
