Chapter 107 Many Self-Confident People Nowadays
Susanna found it strange, whom did she offend?
Susanna pondered, 'If we're talking about who I might have offended, is it Elaine and Erica again?'
‘There is a possibility.’
Susanna spoke up, "It's not clear for now."
At this moment, a car stopped by the roadside, Edward got out of the car with a cold expression. "Susanna, are you okay? Where are Grace and Andrew? Let me talk to them."
Susanna shook her head. "They have already left."
It seemed that to avoid being reprimanded by Edward, Grace and Andrew, who usually liked to meddle, left decisively this time.
At this moment, Dick spoke up, "Susanna, let's quickly take Madison back first."
It was only at this moment that Edward noticed Dick, and his brows furrowed slightly as he asked in an unfriendly tone. "Who are you?"
Susanna hurriedly introduced, "Edward, he is the boss of my studio, and we graduated from the same school."
Dick quickly greeted Edward with a smile. "Hello."
Edward responded coldly. This was the boss of the studio that Austin mentioned before, who took Susanna to the hospital for treatment timely.
He seemed decent enough, but still barely reached the passing grade which is mainly because he took Susanna to the hospital.
Edward turned to Susanna and Madison, as his expression softened a lot. "Get in the car, and I'll take you back first."
After helping Madison into the car, Susanna waved to Dick. "Thank you for today."
Dick responded, "Not a biggie."
Dick stood by the roadside watching Susanna leave. He glanced at the car and squinted his eyes. This was no ordinary car; it was a near million-dollar luxury, far from cheap.
Suddenly, Dick understood that Susanna was still holding back from him. It was unexpected that Susanna's family was quite wealthy. No wonder they could afford the nearly ten-million-dollar house in the neighborhood, claiming it was on loan. Was that possible?
Confidence surged within Dick that he must win Susanna over, then he could ease off for a few decades.
While in the car, Madison expressed her concern. "Susanna, what if the government compensation money really ends up in Grace and Andrew's hands?"
"You don't need to worry, that money won't reach them."
Edward explained as he drove. "I've been in the real estate industry for so many years, I understand the rules inside out. You have to trust me."
Susanna nodded along. "Aunt Madison, you have to trust Edward, we can handle this."
Back home, Aviana took care of comforting Madison.
Susanna and Edward sat on the living room sofa, and she said after pondering. "Edward, Dick went to the government side and said I have offended someone."
"Don't worry, I've already sent someone to find out the details," Edward responded.
A surge of anger brewed within Edward. He had met with the boss of the construction company and personally instructed on this matter. How could there be a mistake?
Soon, Edward's assistant called.
He took the call outside on the balcony, uttering very grumpily, "Who's causing trouble?"
If he found the mastermind behind this, he would break their legs!
The assistant hesitated before answering. "It is related to the Abbott family."
"What?"
Upon hearing the name, Edward quickly glanced back at Susanna in the hall, closing the balcony door, then lowered his voice. "For what reason?"
Aaron dared to target at Susanna?
What did that he want?
Did he want to force Susanna to become his clandestine mistress through the incident?
In just a few seconds, Edward had imagined many scenarios and was enraged enough to kill someone.
"The specific reason hasn't been identified, but it is indeed related to the Abbott family. They had approached the boss of the construction company and instructed them to target Miss Susanna. After all, the Abbott family is a prominent family in Lindwell, and this construction company dare not disobey their orders." Assistant explained.
"Huh, Aaron is quite audacious. How dare him!"
Edward was extremely angry.
Aaron wanted to marry Erica, even seeking Austin's help for Maria's surgery, and yet he dared to target Susanna!
Edward ended the call and immediately called Austin, requiring his consultation with such an important matter. If Aaron was really up to no good with Susanna, using such despicable means—then he had to reconsider his cooperation with the Abbott family.
Perhaps the engagement should be called off.
Inside the house, Susanna was waiting for Edward's call, as her phone rang, showing an unknown number.
Susanna answered, "Hello, who is this?"
"Everything is all because of you. Susanna, how do you feel now? You've been looking forward to the government compensation money, thinking it could change your fate, but now you're disappointed, right?" Allison snorted.
Susanna's expression turned cold. "Allison, was it you who did it? No, you don't have the capability, it should be Elaine."
Elaine was still a member of the Abbott family although she was foolish, so it was easy for her to do such things.
Allison laughed wickedly. "What does that fool Elaine know? She just relies on her status as a young lady to show off. I did all of this intentionally, making your foster parents sign and leave their bank account details. Even if you're angry, you won't get this money!"
Susanna retorted, "Allison, you're not much better. You're just Elaine's servant. If it weren't for her, would the construction company boss even bother with you? Oh, you can also go and sleep with him, after all, you've slept with the old man several times before, so it shouldn't be difficult for you."
Allison screamed on the other end of the line, infuriated by Susanna. "Susanna, I won't let you off, just wait and see!"
She hung up directly, not expecting this matter to be related to Elaine.
The people of the Abbott family seemed to be everywhere.
They used to target Madison, but now it was escalating. Given her poor health, she'd likely blame herself if she failed to secure the government compensation.
Susanna took out her phone to send a message to Aaron, asking him to handle Elaine, only to find that she had been blocked.
She had to call Aaron, but there was no answer on the other end.
To be angry, she sent him a text message: [If you can't handle Elaine and let her out, don't blame me for being impolite.]
She got information that could harm Elaine!
After sending the message, Aaron called back.
At that moment, Edward had just finished his call on the balcony and walked in. Susanna looked a bit embarrassed and directly hung up his call. "Edward, what's going on?"
"I asked over there, it's likely that your foster parents found someone to help them achieve their goal," Edward responded.
Susanna sighed in relief. Thankfully, Edward hadn't found out about the connection to the Abbott family. Otherwise, with Edward's temper, she might not be able to stop him, and it would be difficult to explain why the Abbott family was targeting her.
The phone kept ringing, and Edward looked over. "Your phone is ringing, aren't you going to answer?"
