Chapter 214 Where is My Child?

Aaron saw the caller ID flash "brother" and frowned, thinking, 'Who could this be?'

He stared at the phone as it kept ringing, relentless.

Finally, he gave in and answered. Brian's voice came through. "Susanna, I'm outside the school. Are you still in class? I'm waiting for you."

Hearing a man's voice, Aaron's expression turned icy. "She doesn't need you to wait."

"Who are you?" Brian's tone shifted. "Let's sort this out. Just let Susanna go. If it's about money or conditions, just say the word."

Aaron's lips tightened. "That should be my line. You Jones folks better stay away from Susanna, or don't blame me for getting tough."

He hung up abruptly.

Brian was left bewildered.

What was going on?

Could Susanna have been kidnapped again?

Brian quickly called Daniel. "Daniel, something's wrong. Susanna might be in trouble again."

"What happened? Details, now," Daniel urged.

Brian recounted the conversation, stammering nervously, "Who do you think answered the phone? The tone was so arrogant! I remember that guy named Dick is still locked up."

Daniel was silent for a moment. "Do you have a recording of the call? Let me hear it; I might recognize the voice."

Brian shared the call recording. After a brief pause, unable to contain his curiosity, he dialed back. "Have you listened to it? Any idea who it is?"

"If I'm not mistaken, that's Aaron's voice."

Brian was stunned. "Aaron, the son of the wealthiest man in Lindwell? The guy Erica is desperate to marry?"

"Yes, that's him."

Brian gritted his teeth. "You heard what Aaron said earlier. That's not something an ordinary guy would say. He definitely has intentions toward Susanna! And Susanna is still with him now."

"I know. If Susanna is with Aaron, she won't be in danger. I'll handle it; you don't need to worry," Daniel said.

"Why shouldn't I worry? Susanna is my sister too. I feel like you guys are hiding something from me. Did Susanna and Aaron have a past?" Brian retorted.

Brian, a master in matters of the heart, had a keen sensitivity to such nuances. Coupled with Aaron's earlier warning to stay away from Susanna, even the most oblivious person could sense that their relationship was far from ordinary.

He wanted to get to the bottom of it, but Daniel was tight-lipped and wouldn't reveal anything.

The more Brian thought about it, the more upset he became. He knew Susanna had been working as a caregiver for Mrs. Maria Abbott. In such a wealthy family, a caregiver was basically a servant.

What could happen between a servant and a wealthy heir?

No matter what happened, Susanna would be the one to suffer in the end.

Brian seethed with anger, cursing silently, 'If Aaron truly harmed Susanna, I won't rest until he faces the consequences!'

Hospital, private VIP ward.

When Susanna woke up, she saw the glaring ceiling and realized where she was.

She instinctively touched her lower abdomen to check on the baby.

Could Aaron have had the doctor perform an abortion on her?

"What are you looking for?" Aaron's deep voice cut through the silence.

Startled, Susanna glanced up and saw him sitting by the window. Anxiously, she asked, "Did you harm my child?"

Seeing the distrust in her eyes, Aaron felt a twinge of displeasure. Did she really think he was that kind of person?

He lifted his eyelids slightly and said, "If it wasn't my child, why keep it?"

Susanna seemed to be in a daze, looking down at her lower abdomen, tears streaming down her face.

Was her baby gone?

Seeing her cry, Aaron realized he might have taken the joke too far. "Stop crying," he demanded.

But Susanna suddenly got out of bed and lunged at him. "Aaron, I won't let you get away with this!"

Worried she might hurt herself, Aaron quickly tossed aside his laptop and caught her.

But the next second, her hands were around his neck, gripping tightly.

Susanna straddled his legs, her hands squeezing his throat. If her baby was gone, she would make Aaron pay!

Aaron's throat burned with pain. He didn't dare push her away forcefully and could only struggle with a frown. "Let go!"

"I won't! Aaron, you murderer!"

At that moment, the door to the ward suddenly opened.

Dr. Joseph walked in with a nurse for rounds, only to see the two of them on the small sofa by the window, Susanna on top, Aaron below, tightly embracing each other.

The scene was easily misunderstood.

Joseph frowned. "What are you two doing?"

Upon hearing the doctor's voice, Susanna released her grip, causing her to lose balance and fall into Aaron's arms. She quickly pushed him away, refusing his touch.

Aaron said patiently, "Stop it, people are watching."

Dr. Joseph looked at Susanna sternly. "You're pregnant with twins. You need to be more careful than most. How can you do such things in a hospital?"

Stunned, Susanna turned to Joseph, her voice filled with disbelief. "Wait, you're saying my baby is still alive?"

"Yes, your husband was very fierce when he brought you in. If we couldn't save your baby, our hospital might as well close down. So, you and the baby are fine," Joseph said.

Hearing this, Susanna looked at Aaron in shock. She had thought Aaron couldn't wait to have the doctor perform an abortion, but he had actually asked the doctor to save her baby.

For a moment, Susanna realized she had misunderstood Aaron.

Aaron leaned back in his chair, looking at her indifferently. "Did you hear clearly now?"

Susanna, still processing. "Then why did you say that earlier?"

"What did I say? Wasn't it your own misunderstanding?" Aaron said calmly.

Frustrated and angry, Susanna clenched her teeth, feeling the urge to lash out at him.

Blushing, she extricated herself from Aaron's embrace. With the knowledge that her baby was still alive, she composed herself once more.

Dr. Joseph said seriously, "Even though hormones might make you have needs, you should still be careful in a hospital setting."

Susanna's face turned bright red, stammering, "It wasn't what you think."

Aaron deliberately added, "I didn't resist."

Dr. Joseph looked at him. "As a husband, you should also learn more about this. You can't let your wife act recklessly; it's not good for the baby."

Aaron coughed, his throat moving slightly. "Where can I learn?"
