Chapter 524 Always Good at Acting

When Susanna saw Vivian show up, she knew Vivian had an agenda. It wasn't just about messing with Amelia.

And she was right. The moment Owen appeared, it was clear Vivian's provocation was all part of a plan.

Owen, now a big shot and Amelia's dad, hated it when people said he relied on his wife.

He was the kind of guy who was proud, arrogant, and had high standards but not much skill. Vivian had hit his weak spot perfectly.

When Amelia saw Owen, she got flustered. Seeing him next to Vivian made her even angrier.

Vivian played the victim card and said to Owen, "Dad, don't blame Amelia. We were just having a little argument. It's no big deal; I won't hold it against her."

Owen immediately scolded Amelia, "Look at how generous Vivian is. She doesn't hold these little things against you. You should learn from her, understand? I've raised you so well all these years and even sent you abroad, and this is how you repay me?"

Amelia sneered, "Yeah, I've studied abroad for years. At least I know what it means to be grateful and what it means to be ungrateful."

Owen was furious, pointing at Amelia's nose, "Look at what you've learned all these years! Without me, could you have studied abroad? Could you have everything you have today?"

"But without Mom, would you have everything you have today? Without her family, the Richardson Family would have gone bankrupt long ago. You wouldn't have become president. Everything you have today is because of Mom. What right do you have to bring Vivian and Ramond back to the Richardson Family to hurt my mother?"

"Shut up." Owen was livid and slapped Amelia hard.

Amelia was stunned, covering her face in shock. "Dad, you hit me without even asking. It was Vivian who deliberately provoked and told Mom the news, causing her to get angry and be rushed to the hospital. She wants to kill my Mom, and you're defending her?"

Vivian quickly chimed in, "Dad, I just came to check on Paige's health. I didn't mean anything else. Maybe in Amelia's eyes, it seemed like I was deliberately showing off. If she really hates me that much, I'll try to appear less in front of her to avoid misunderstandings. I don't want to see you arguing because of me."

Owen frowned and looked at Vivian. "You did nothing wrong; why do you apologize? Amelia has been spoiled as my only child for so many years, and it's time to toughen up her temper."

Susanna stepped forward and held Amelia. Honestly, she wasn't surprised by Vivian's behavior.

Vivian had set this whole thing up to mess with their relationship.

Amelia had never been so wronged, especially seeing Vivian's smug face. She lost it and blurted out, "Dad, did I say anything wrong? Or are you afraid to admit that you reached your current position because of mom's support?"

Owen shouted, "Amelia, if you keep talking like that, I'll send you abroad and never let you come back."

"Is that all you can think of? Sending me away? Well, this time, I'm not backing down. I won't let her and her kid come back to the Richardson Family."

Owen was fuming, "Amelia, when did you become like this? Vivian is also my daughter, and she deserves a share of the Richardson Family's property. That's my call, not yours."

Vivian's eyes gleamed with triumph. Her plan was working, and taking a slap from Amelia was a small price to pay for a shot at the inheritance.

Vivian clung to Owen's arm, acting all concerned, "Dad, don't be mad. I don't want to cause any trouble in the family."

She turned to Amelia, "Honestly, my only wish growing up was to find my dad. I've always envied kids with fathers. I came back to the Richardson Family to be with my family, not for the money. You don't have to worry about me competing with you."

"Vivian, do you even believe your own lies?"

"Amelia, what do you want me to do to make you believe me? I came back to the Richardson Family to have a family, not to ruin yours. As an orphan, my biggest dream has always been to have a happy family."

Amelia looked disgusted, "Enough with the act. I see right through you. You won't succeed."

Vivian lowered her eyes, a dark look flashing briefly, then turned to Owen. "Dad, I really didn't come for the money. I just want to be with my family."

Owen looked at Amelia. "Look at Vivian, and then look at yourself. She's more sensible and considerate than you."

"Dad, is it because she's sensible or because she's willing to bring Ramond into the Richardson Family as your grandson? Is having a boy that important to you?"

Amelia had never realized how much Owen preferred boys over girls. After Paige gave birth to her, Paige's physical health was compromised, rendering her unable to have more children. Owen always said he didn't need more children and didn't want a son. For years, Amelia believed him, but when Vivian brought Ramond, she saw the truth.

Owen's face turned dark, "Amelia, shut up. From today on, I'm cutting off your credit card. If you're so tough, don't come to me for help."

With that, Owen stormed off, his face like thunder.

Vivian put on her fake concern. "Dad, don't be mad at Amelia; she was just acting on impulse. Those words weren't from her heart."

After Owen left, Vivian turned to Amelia with a smirk. "How do you like the show I put on for you?"
