Chapter 379 Is This the Marital Home She Used to Live In?

Aaron took a quick peek at the villa outside; it was their old marital home.

Susanna clutched her head, trying to shake off a sudden sharp pain.

She dropped her hand and stared at the villa, feeling a weird sense of déjà vu.

She said, all cryptic-like, "Mr. Abbott, if I'm not trippin', this is the house you and your ex used to live in, right?"

Aaron's eyes narrowed a bit. "Yeah."

"Think any current girlfriend would be cool with seeing the place her guy lived with his ex?"

Aaron caught her calm vibe. Even now, she was so chill. He never knew she could act this well.

He went on, "Since we're here, why not go in and chill for a bit?"

Hearing this, Susanna whipped her head to look at him. "Mr. Abbott, are you hitting on me?"

Her red lips curled up slightly, and her almond-shaped eyes had that mature woman charm.

Aaron looked down at Susanna in front of him, his throat bobbing a bit. "You could say that."

After he said that, Susanna moved closer, their noses almost touching, their breaths mixing.

Aaron's breath caught, his deep, unreadable eyes locked on her.

The next second, Susanna burst out laughing. "Mr. Abbott, we just made things official. I need time to warm up and don't like rushing things."

As she spoke, she fixed his loosened tie. "Besides, Mr. Abbott, you've had too much to drink tonight. You should head home and crash early to dodge a morning headache."

After doing all that, she was about to leave but Aaron grabbed her wrist.

Susanna's heart raced. What was Aaron up to now?

She looked up and met his deep, narrow eyes, forcing a smile. "Mr. Abbott, got something else to say?"

For some reason, Susanna felt Aaron was acting kinda off today, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Aaron looked at Susanna in front of him and couldn't help but reach out to touch her face. "You look a lot like her."

"Mr. Abbott, I know your ex looks like me, but I'm not her, and I'm not a stand-in for anyone! If you see me as a replacement for your ex, you'll be let down sooner or later. I'm not a woman who takes orders."

"I know that better than anyone."

Susanna wasn't a woman who took orders either.

At least over the years, he couldn't forget Susanna no matter what.

Now that he knew Susanna had faked her death and played him for four years, he felt both pissed and kinda relieved.

Susanna forced a smile. "Since you know, can you let go now? I need to get back and be with Lillian. She must be scared alone in the hospital."

She muttered to herself that Aaron seemed different when he was drunk.

Aaron looked down at her. "How old is Lillian?"

"Almost four. Her birthday's next month. Why do you ask?"

"By that math, you met Lillian's dad four years ago?"

Hearing this, a hint of caution flashed in Susanna's eyes. Why was he suddenly asking about Lillian's dad?

She nodded. "Yeah."

"Do you really know nothing about Lillian's dad?"

Seeing her innocent face, Aaron had the urge to blow her cover right then and there. But if she wanted to play games, he was down to play along for a bit longer.

He was curious about what she’d been up to all these years and what happened to the baby she was carrying.

If Susanna had kept the baby back then, it’d be around Lillian’s age now.

If that was the case, then Lillian might be his kid, which would explain why the bone marrow match was a slam dunk on the first try.

This wasn’t just some random fluke!

Susanna’s internal alarms were blaring, and she quickly said, "You might not buy this, but I’ve got amnesia."

Aaron looked puzzled.

"See, your face says it all. That’s why I didn’t bring it up before, ‘cause I knew you wouldn’t believe me."

Aaron frowned and said, "Keep talking."

"Well, it’s kinda messy. When I was young and dumb, I was only into my ex’s looks. I was dead set on being with him. But he turned out to be a total jerk, messing around with other women and treating me like crap when I was pregnant. I almost died. If my family hadn’t yanked me away from that jerk and his crew in time, I’d be dead."

"I was so wrecked that I ended up with selective amnesia, conveniently forgetting everything about that jerk. My family, to keep me from getting tangled up with him again, didn’t tell me squat about him. So, I don’t know who he is."

At this point, Susanna’s tone got serious. "If it wasn’t for Lillian needing a bone marrow transplant, I wouldn’t want to find him ever."

Aaron’s eyes narrowed, catching a hint in her words.

Calling him a jerk seemed to hit the spot for her!

Just as he was about to say something, Susanna leaned in closer, flashing a bright smile. "Thanks to your kind and helpful nature, willing to donate bone marrow to Lillian, I don’t have to find that jerk."

Aaron pulled her into his arms, their bodies pressed tight, his gaze intense. "In that case, why not marry me?"

Susanna’s body went stiff. She fought the urge to slap him and instead smiled. "Mr. Abbott, I’ve already agreed to be your girlfriend. Isn’t that enough?"

Aaron’s hand gripped her slim waist, almost like he could snap it with a bit of pressure.

He pressed his tongue against his cheek and said in a low voice, "Don't just talk the talk."

"Is this how you want me to walk the walk?"

Susanna flipped over and sat on his lap, her head almost hitting the car roof, looking down at him with a smile on her red lips.

Aaron’s throat moved slightly. In four years, Susanna had definitely grown a lot!

"Mommy, what are they doing?"

Suddenly, a kid stood outside the window, holding a lollipop and looking at them with innocent, curious eyes.

Seeing the kid, Susanna immediately got off Aaron and turned her head to the side, not wanting the kid to see her face.

Soon, the kid’s parent hurried over, holding the kid’s hand. "Don’t run off."

"Mommy, is the lady playing a game with the man by sitting on his lap?"

The parent awkwardly said, "Yes, they’re just playing a game."

Aaron was silent.

Susanna was super embarrassed. She coughed a few times. "Mr. Abbott, I need to go back to the hospital and be with Lillian."

"Wait."
