Chapter 510 The Truth is Usually Cruel

Susanna heard Vivian drop Ramond's name and instantly knew she was about to start bragging.

She quickly grabbed Amelia's hand, giving her a look that said, "Don't do anything rash." Vivian was clearly trying to get under Amelia's skin and make her slip up.

Right now, it was all about keeping cool.

Amelia took a deep breath and managed to hold her tongue.

Owen heard Ramond's name and grinned, "Great. I've sent a bunch of people to teach him. Make sure he's making progress. He seems pretty sharp to me. Learning this stuff will be good for him down the road."

"Dad, don't worry. Ramond's always been smart. I'll make sure he learns a lot," Vivian said, then shot a look at Amelia. "We should send him abroad to study too, just like Amelia."

Upon hearing this, Amelia rolled her eyes.

Susanna squeezed her hand tighter and gave her a frantic look: Stay calm! You have to stay calm!

Next to them, Maud chimed in with a sarcastic tone, "Ramond lived with us in the Abbott Family for five years. I sent plenty of teachers his way, but he's slow, has a bad temper, and takes forever to learn anything. Plus, he's super proud. Mr. Richardson, you might want to hire more teachers for him, or it won't do much good."

Susanna was floored when Maud spoke up.

She didn't expect Maud to put Vivian in her place at such a crucial moment!

Maud, with her high standards, couldn't stand Vivian's arrogance.

Vivian shot back, "Maud, I don't get what you're saying. Why are you badmouthing Ramond? You used to like him so much."

Vivian was so mad she could grind her teeth to dust.

"I was fooled by you back then. I didn't know the truth and thought Ramond was an Abbott. But he's just a bastard. He's always been slow. I'm not wrong." Maud couldn't stand Vivian's arrogance.

Vivian was just an illegitimate child. What was she so proud of?

If Vivian hadn't tricked her back then, she wouldn't have almost caused her own granddaughter's death.

Vivian stood up, eyes cold. "Maud, who are you calling a bastard? Ramond is not a bastard. He's Abbott blood. If he's slow, it must be your family's genes."

"What a joke. Aaron himself said he's not Ramond's biological father. Do you have any shame?"

Vivian sneered, "Who said he has to be Aaron's son? Maybe he's the son of Aaron's brother."

"Whose brother? Aaron is my only son."

Vivian shot back, "That doesn't mean he can't have a brother just because you didn't give birth to him."

At this point, Aaron looked at Vivian, "Enough, you don't need to say anymore."

Vivian was fuming, "Why hide it now? Ramond is Abbott blood. I didn't lie or say anything wrong."

Maud heard Vivian and slumped into her chair, "If I didn't give birth to him, then...?"

Was he an illegitimate child?

No way.

Vivian coldly replied, "That's right. Ramond's father is Aaron's half-brother."

Aaron had warned her from the start not to spill the beans, or she'd be kicked out of the Abbott Family.

But now she wasn't sticking around, so she didn't need to keep her promise to Aaron.

"You're lying," Maud still didn't buy it.

"I'm not lying. Ask Aaron. When I first came to the Abbott Family, I had proof and did a paternity test."

"But my husband has been dead for years. Why would you suddenly do a paternity test? Who'd believe that?"

"These days, as long as genetic info is stored, you can do a test anytime."

Maud still didn't believe it. "When did my husband store genetic info?"

Vivian smirked, "He did it for the other son to prove his identity. That's why he set all this up."

Maud's face went through a rainbow of emotions. She looked at Aaron and asked, "Aaron, is what Vivian's saying true?"

Aaron pressed his lips together and was silent for a moment before saying, "Yes."

Maud instantly screamed, "Aaron, how dare you hide something this big from me and bring them into the Abbott Family? He's just an illegitimate child. What's there to pity? They should've stayed out and never come into the Abbott Family. Do you even consider me your mother, humiliating me like this?"

Maud was livid, shaking all over.

She had wondered whose kid Ramond was, but never thought his father was that illegitimate child.

For years, she treated Ramond like her own grandson, only to find out he was a bastard.

Susanna looked at the hysterical Maud and suddenly felt a bit sorry for her.

Aaron really messed this up.

Susanna was curious why Aaron brought Ramond back to the Abbott Family.

From what she knew, Aaron wasn't that kind of guy!

So what was his reason? There had to be more to it.

Aaron spoke, "This was my father's last wish."

"So, your father knew and kept it from us, right? When did you find out?"

"I only found out when Vivian showed up five years ago."

"Then why didn't you tell me? Why keep it from me?"

Vivian, standing nearby, laughed, "Because you desperately wanted a grandson. My child is also Abbott blood. Aaron didn't plan to marry and have kids, so he intended to raise Ramond as his heir. That's why he didn't tell you the truth."

"Shut up."
