Chapter 175 I Can't Fit This Schedule
"This timing clash, what should I do?" Susanna wondered.
She hesitated for a moment. "If tomorrow is Monday..."
"Oh, you have school on Monday, right? I'll take you to school tomorrow," Brian said.
He really wanted to take Susanna to school. As an older brother, he felt it was his duty. He had always imagined this moment.
Susanna was stunned. "Brian, you don't have to."
"It's no trouble at all. I rarely get a day off, so why not take you? Susanna, you should rest early. I'll pick you up on time tomorrow."
"Brian..."
Before Susanna could say anything, Brian left.
She felt a headache coming on. She had an appointment with Aaron in the morning to finalize their divorce and classes in the afternoon. But with Brian like this, he probably wouldn't give her a chance to refuse.
"Oh my gosh! How should I handle this?" Susanna thought.
She aimed to conclude the divorce with Aaron without Brian's awareness of their relationship to prevent any potential trouble for Aaron. If Brian provoked Aaron in Lindwell, it would impede Aaron's establishment of a training center in that location!
Anyway, her relationship with Aaron was over, and she didn't want to create any more trouble.
Susanna returned to her bedroom and started thinking about how to handle this tomorrow. If she didn't let Brian take her to school, what excuse should she use? Brian was so enthusiastic just now. If she refused, would he be upset?
But she really didn't want Brian to know about her relationship with Aaron.
At that moment, her phone rang—it was a call from Dick.
Susanna glanced at it but didn't answer.
She could sense what Dick was about to say, but she found herself at a loss for words. It seemed like she had already said everything she needed to.
A woman's intuition is sharp; she didn't think Dick liked her that much. But even though Susanna didn't answer the call, Dick kept calling, as if he wouldn't stop until she picked up.
Finally, after the phone stopped ringing, she got a WhatsApp message from Dick: [Susanna, I'm downstairs at your place. If you don't answer the phone, I'll knock on every door until I find you.]
Susanna finally got annoyed and called back. "Dick, I thought I made it very clear before, we are not suitable for each other."
"Susanna, you finally answered. Don't worry about what happened at school. I'll make it up to you with a proper confession ceremony."
Susanna said coldly, "No need, because I will never accept you."
"Why? Susanna, if you're feeling insecure because of your divorce, you don't need to worry about that. I don't care about those things. I like you for who you are," Dick claimed.
Susanna suddenly felt like she was talking nonsense. She rubbed her temples and said, "But I don't like you."
"Susanna, I know you're feeling confused right now. Don't rush to reject me. I'll give you some time to think it over. Goodnight, my girl!"
Dick hung up, and Susanna looked at her phone in disbelief, recalling Dick's last words, "Goodnight, my girl."
She was instantly disgusted by Dick. She hadn't noticed how gross he was before!
Dick was not her type at all. Plus, now that she was divorced and pregnant, preparing to move to Novaria to give birth to Aaron's child, personal relationships were the last thing on her mind.
She even started to wonder if she had given Dick the wrong impression, making him think she liked him.
Feeling disgusted, Susanna called Flandre to talk about it and mentioned seeing Dick on a date with another woman at a restaurant.
Flandre angrily replied, "Susanna, don't overthink it. The problem is with Dick, not you. I used to think he was a decent guy, but I didn't expect him to date someone else while pursuing you. It's shameless."
"Flandre, when Dick hinted at his feelings by sending flowers before, I had already rejected him. He backed off then and didn't bring it up again. But I didn't expect him to confess outside the library today and then come to my place at night. It really scared me," Susanna expressed.
"Susanna, don't feel insecure because of the divorce. You deserve better, and you don't need to pay attention to Dick," Flandre comforted.
After chatting with Flandre for a while, Susanna felt much better. But she started to get a headache again thinking about the next morning.
Maybe she should get up early and leave quietly. When Brian came to find her, she could say she had already left. This seemed like a more suitable plan.
The next day, when Susanna woke up, she realized it was already a bit late.
Oh no, she didn't hear the alarm.
Susanna quickly got up and changed her clothes. When she opened her bedroom door, she saw Brian and Madison coming in with a lot of stuff. "You're awake. Madison and I went out and bought a lot of your favorite foods."
Madison took the bags to the kitchen and said, "Susanna, Quickly freshen up, and eat."
Susanna gave an awkward but polite smile.
Brian walked up to her and flicked her forehead. "You got up so early today. Madison said you don't have classes on Monday mornings, so I thought I'd let you sleep in a bit longer, and then we could go to the mall to pick out a piano."
Susanna said awkwardly, "I don't have classes in the morning, but I need to go to the study room to read."
"Oh, I see. After breakfast, I'll take you to school."
Susanna gave a helpless smile, realizing she couldn't avoid it.
After finishing breakfast, she checked the time and whispered, "Brian, we should leave now."
"In a hurry?"
"A bit."
Susanna hurried to school and then planned to take a cab to the civil affairs office. Although she would be a bit late, Aaron should be able to wait for her.
Brian didn't suspect anything and drove her to school. Susanna was restless the whole way. She took out her phone and sent Aaron a WhatsApp message: [I'll be a bit late. Please wait for me.]
Right after sending the message, Aaron called. Susanna didn't dare to answer and hung up, replying on WhatsApp: [I can't take the call right now.]
Aaron: [Who are you with?]
He squinted his eyes while typing.
Susanna saw the message but didn't reply.
Soon, the car stopped outside the school. Susanna quickly said, "I'm here. Bye, Brian. Drive safely. I'm going now."
She said it all in one breath, opened the car door, and ran. Brian watched her back with a doting expression, then drove away from the school.
Susanna hid in a corner, and after seeing Brian leave, she hurried out to find a cab. But it was hard to get a cab.
Susanna was almost in tears. She mustered up the courage to call Aaron, and he answered immediately.
She said, "Mr. Abbott, can we have a talk?"
