Chapter 586 Selfish People Never Change

Susanna glanced at Maud, thinking everything she said was just plain selfish.

Maud grew up in a family that favored boys over girls, so she was obsessed with having a son. Even though she knew Aaron was an illegitimate child, she pretended not to know and accepted it all just to keep her wealthy status.

Maud seemed to hit a nerve. "Susanna, what are you talking about? Everything was fine before you showed up. Ever since you appeared, Aaron's been drifting away from me."

Susanna replied, "So, you know he's not your biological son, and while you hate him, you hope he doesn't find out and still obeys you completely. But he's got a mind of his own, and you can't handle that, right?"

Maud looked hurt and couldn't argue back. Susanna pressed on. "Why aren't you saying anything? You've always been the selfish one. You treat Aaron like a tool. What right do you have to do that?"

"But I raised him and treated him like my own son. I gave him the best education and pinned all my hopes on him. And what happened? He's just an illegitimate child of a mistress. If it were you, would you have done better?"

Seeing Maud's emotional breakdown, Susanna felt like she had aged a lot in an instant. Any woman going through such things would probably not have it easy.

Susanna suddenly said, "Then why did you just say it was me who told Aaron about his background?"

"Isn't it? During that time, I found out Aaron wasn't my biological son. I was in despair, and when Ivy came to comfort me, you overheard our conversation."

Susanna said mockingly, "I didn't hear your conversation. I only found out about this recently, and it was Aaron who told me."

"So what? At that time, who knew whether you knew or not?"

"So, you hated me not just because I'm an orphan, but because you feared I knew Aaron's background and he might find out, causing you to lose everything as his adoptive mother, right?" Susanna now understood that Maud's hostility towards her back then was due to her guilty conscience.

Maud's expression darkened. She snorted. "So what? With your orphan status, what right do you have to marry into the Abbott Family and give birth to the Abbott Family's heir? I didn't expect Aaron to like you so much. If he were my biological son, he would never like a woman of your status."

Susanna sneered, "Have you forgotten how you fawned over that imposter who came to the Abbott Family? And now you say I, a true heir of the Jones Family, am not worthy of the Abbott Family? Stop pretending. You just think he's not your biological son and that he owes you, so he must obey you. You're saying all this just to cover up your selfishness."

Maud's feelings for Aaron had always been a mess. Deep down, she was just a selfish person who hid the truth for her own gain but acted like she was the victim.

Maud shouted, "What else? If my son were still alive, he wouldn't treat me like this. I raised Aaron since he was a kid. Shouldn't he repay me? Look at how he treats me."

Aaron spoke without any emotion, "I know, so what do you want?"

"I want everything from the Abbott Family. Since you don't want kids and plan to donate all the Abbott Family's assets, you might as well give them all to me. After all, you owe me. If it weren't for me, would you have returned to the Abbott Family and become its heir? Aaron, don't forget that you owe everything you have today to me."

Aaron thought for a moment and said, "I can give you all the shares, but you'll only have dividend rights, not operational control."

"Fine, money is good enough. At my age, I can't run a company anyway. Now, get me a super VIP card from DivineDynasty, and from now on, never question any card I use."

Aaron nodded. "Okay."

Maud then straightened her clothes and left the restaurant. The bodyguards around had been blocking all exits, worried that someone might intrude.

Susanna watched Maud's departing figure and looked up at Aaron beside her, saying, "Are you really going to transfer all the shares to her?"

Aaron's expression was calm. "If she wants them, let her have them. After all, with my status, these things shouldn't belong to me."

Hearing Aaron's words, Susanna felt a bit sad. She knew how hard Aaron worked, and the Abbott Family had come this far thanks to him.

Susanna quickly changed the subject. "Let's go eat first." The two walked into the private room one after the other, and soon someone brought the food.

Aaron's mood was still low, and even Lillian and Charles noticed. Lillian directly placed a freshly baked pizza in front of Aaron. "This is really good. Eat it, and you'll feel better."

Aaron patted Lillian's little head and then took the pizza and ate a few bites. Susanna glanced at him but said nothing. It seemed useless to say anything now. After all, Aaron had known these things for a long time, and now that everything was out in the open, it would take some time to process these emotions.

Lillian stayed by Aaron's side, helping him with the food, busying herself. At this moment, perhaps only a child could heal Aaron's heart. And today, Charles was also very sensible and didn't occasionally target Aaron.

After the meal, Aaron held Lillian's hand and said, "I'll take you home first."

"But there's an amusement park nearby." Lillian saw an amusement park not far away through the restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows, with a giant Ferris wheel in the middle, very conspicuous.
