Chapter 544 Watching Vivian Get Dealt With
Susanna watched as Owen actually slapped Vivian. Her eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly composed herself.
Owen, who always cared about his image, had brought Vivian to a fancy party for the first time, and it turned into a mess.
Knowing Owen, his patience with Vivian must have hit rock bottom.
Vivian snapped out of it after the slap, seeing Owen's look of disgust, felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped on her.
Her rationality slowly returned, and she stammered, "Dad, you saw it. Elaine hit me first this time."
Earlier, she had to apologize to Elaine for slapping her, but this time Elaine started it.
Owen's voice was icy, "But you shouldn't have said those things to Ms. Abbott. Is that how you should behave? You're not even half as good as Amelia."
Vivian's face froze, noticing Amelia nearby, feeling even more upset.
Amelia smiled and said, "Dad, don't blame Vivian. It's her first time at a party like this, and she's not used to it. It's my fault for not explaining the rules. Blame me, not her."
Owen turned to Vivian, "Look at how sensible Amelia is, and then look at yourself. What have you become?"
Vivian was speechless, and after a moment, she pointed at Elaine, "But it was Elaine who hit me first. Didn't you just say the person who hits first is wrong? So this time, it's her, not me."
"A person should know how to tolerate. Ms. Abbott is a guest, and you are not. Apologize to her right now!" Owen's words left Vivian stunned, or more accurately, dumbfounded.
She didn't expect Owen to say that.
Susanna saw Vivian's expression and guessed her feelings. She probably never expected this to happen.
Elaine hit first, but Owen still wanted Vivian to apologize.
Maybe for a moment, Vivian thought Owen would support her, but he did the opposite, scolding her and demanding she apologize to Elaine.
This reaction was pretty normal.
Vivian should understand how she got back to Owen's side. She was never really accepted.
If it were a normal father-daughter relationship, Owen wouldn't have done this, but to him, Vivian was just an illegitimate child; the only one he valued was Ramond.
At today's party, Vivian's behavior was embarrassing. Owen, who cared so much about his image, would definitely dislike a child who embarrassed him, so he had to make her suffer to save face.
Amelia took the chance to add fuel to the fire, "Vivian, Dad is doing this for your own good. As hosts, we should be more magnanimous. Do you understand?"
Vivian's face turned red with anger. First, she had to apologize, and now she had to do it again. Why?
She had already returned to Owen's side, but why was she still so aggrieved?
Elaine, standing nearby, rubbed her sore scalp and snapped at Vivian, "Even if you apologize now, I won't accept it. This is bullying. Are all people from Novaria this arrogant? I'm calling the cops. Vivian actually hit me."
Maud chimed in, "If people find out that Owen's goddaughter is this arrogant, it won't be good for your family's reputation, right?"
Elaine's behavior in the fight was embarrassing, but if they could force Vivian to apologize now, it would show that the Abbott Family still had clout, and even Owen had to respect them, which meant Elaine's status was still solid.
Hearing this, Owen's face turned even colder, and he barked at Vivian, "Hurry up and apologize."
"I'm not apologizing! Why should I? She should apologize to me!" Vivian's voice was choked with sobs. She covered her face and wanted to leave, thinking it was better to get out of there.
But Owen grabbed her and said in a low voice, "Stop. If you dare to leave, don't come back."
Vivian froze, unable to leave or stay.
Amelia glanced around and then stepped forward to say to Elaine, "I'm sorry, Ms. Abbott. Vivian might be in a bad mood right now. Once she calms down, we'll persuade her to come and apologize to you personally. For now, can I apologize on her behalf? We'll have a doctor check your face immediately. It wouldn't be good if a scar were left."
Susanna, seeing that it was almost enough, finally spoke, "Velvet Sky Ballroom has a dedicated medical team that can treat both of them immediately, ensuring no aftereffects."
Soon, a doctor arrived with a medical kit and began to disinfect Elaine and Vivian's wounds.
They had only fought for a bit, so it was just some minor injuries, nothing serious.
Susanna looked at Elaine and Vivian and said, "If you still feel any discomfort, you can go to the medical room for a simple X-ray and a full-body check-up. If you prefer to go to the hospital, the hotel can arrange a car for you. Rest assured; our medical system is top-notch."
Vivian winced as her wound was being disinfected, sneering at Susanna, "I know all this. I don't need you telling me. Stop acting like you own the Velvet Sky Ballroom."
Vivian didn't expect to suffer such a big loss today, and she was fuming inside.
Susanna laughed, "Does it matter whether I'm the owner of Velvet Sky Ballroom or not?"
Even she didn't expect that Elaine and Vivian would fight twice, each time more intense than the last.
"Of course it matters. It hurts so much. Can you be gentler?" Elaine scolded the nurse while speaking, "Susanna, you might not know, today's investment banquet is hosted by the owner of Velvet Sky Ballroom himself. It's said that he will be present. Aren't you afraid of being exposed?"
"Why would I be afraid of being exposed?"
Elaine turned to Aaron and said, "Aaron, Susanna claims to be the owner behind Velvet Sky Ballroom. Do you believe that?"
Aaron looked at Susanna, shocked. Was she really the owner?
