Chapter 219 Maybe It's Just a Coincidence

Susanna saw Brian's name and thought she had made a mistake. Brian never mentioned anything about this.

Could it be someone else with the same name?

Confused, Susanna quickly dialed Brian's number, hoping to clear things up. But no one answered.

"Maybe it's just a coincidence," she muttered, trying to shake off the weird feeling. If he didn't pick up, oh well, life goes on.

She headed to check the auditorium setup and felt relieved when everything looked fine.

"Susanna, how dare you show up here?"

Susanna spun around to see Maud and Erica walking in, arm in arm, with Erica smirking. Erica couldn't stop the divorce settlement, but Maud might change the game.

Aaron wouldn't go against his own mother, right?

Maud's eyes blazed with anger, fueled by Erica's gossip about the divorce. She wished Susanna would just disappear.

"Susanna, who do you think you are? You should've left after the divorce. But no, you're here trying to grab Aaron's shares and assets. Are you out of your mind?"

Susanna immediately understood why Maud was there. Erica couldn't handle it herself, so she brought in Maud.

Susanna stayed calm. "Mrs. Abbott, I think you misunderstand. Aaron signed the divorce settlement first, not me. You should talk to him, not me!"

"Stop lying. You must've tricked Aaron into signing that agreement. " Maud pointed at her, fuming.

Susanna crossed her arms and explained. "Erica shredded that document yesterday. Aaron said he has a spare to give me later. If you want to stop it, talk to Aaron. He's the one determined to hand it over."

"Susanna, remember, when you married into the Abbott family, you signed a prenup. You won't get a penny from the divorce, so don't get cocky!"

Maud pulled out the prenup from three years ago and sneered, "If you forgot, take a good look now."

She tossed the document at Susanna. Susanna glanced at it, memories from three years ago flooding back.

Back then, she was determined to marry Aaron, hoping he'd come around. She signed the prenup without a second thought. Now, she wished she could go back and slap some sense into her younger self.

How could she have thought Aaron would change?

Erica smirked, "By the way, this is a copy. The original is safe. Don't think destroying it will erase the evidence."

Susanna smirked back, holding the document. "Not everyone tears things up like you."

Erica's face fell andMaud snapped, "Erica did the right thing. That document shouldn't have existed. She was right to tear it up!"

Susanna chuckled, "The document is useless to me. I told you, Aaron wants to give me the assets. What difference does it make if you bring out the document?"

Maud shot back angrily, "Susanna, don't get any ideas. I'll talk to Aaron. Erica, let's go!"

"Alright, Aunt Maud, chill out. Stress isn't good for you. After seeing this prenup, she won't have any funny ideas."

Erica shot Susanna a smug look. The real show was yet to come; she planned to humiliate Susanna at the concert.

Susanna thought about tossing the document but decided against it. Better to keep it in her bag, just in case.

Honestly, Susanna didn't care about Aaron's assets. She just couldn't stand Maud and Erica gloating, so she threw out those words to mess with them.

She turned back to overseeing the auditorium setup, making sure everything was perfect. This event was a big deal for her.

Soon, the music team arrived.

When Susanna saw Peter, she got nervous. This guy was always so picky.

The counselor stepped up and said, "Peter, check out the setup. If there's anything wrong, we can still fix it."

Peter scanned the auditorium critically. He was about to make a snarky comment but then noticed Susanna. Remembering her connection to Brian, he softened. "It's fine, nothing needs changing."

After all, Brian had personally approved the design. Who would dare complain?

Susanna felt a huge relief. If everything was good, great! If not, she wasn't sure she could fix it in time.

The music team went backstage to prep, and guests started arriving. The media set up their gear.

Susanna stood by, feeling a bit nervous. This was her first big event at school, and she wanted it to go smoothly.

Aaron walked in, instantly drawing attention. He looked sharp in a gray suit, surrounded by a group of middle-aged men. His presence was magnetic, turning heads wherever he went.

Susanna was sure most of the girls were now staring at Aaron.

No matter where he was, he always became the center of attention.

Aaron sat down and looked her way. Their eyes met.

Susanna quickly looked away, pretending to casually scan the room, definitely not staring on purpose.

Then she saw Brian and Erica walk in together, chatting.

Susanna was shocked. 'Brian and Erica know each other?'

Brian stopped at the entrance and gave Erica a cold look. "You have no talent for playing the piano," he said bluntly.

Erica hesitated. "Brian..."

"I've never considered you a true Jones. You're just a pretender," Brian's words were icy.

Erica's anger boiled, but she held it in. Deep down, she was determined. She had to find the real Jones heiress at this school before anyone else. She was set on keeping the Jones family in the dark.

In this lifetime, she would claim her place as the Jones heiress, no matter what.
