Chapter 387 I Really Don't Know What Nova Did to You

Vivian's face went pale as soon as she heard that. She stammered, "Aaron, you can't take Ramond from me!"

"Alright, you can take Ramond and scram, but don't ever come back to the Abbott family. I'll throw some cash your way to keep you comfy, but that's it."

Aaron's face was stone-cold, and his voice was icy and firm.

Vivian started to panic big time. She blurted out, "Aaron, please don't kick me out. This is all on me; I shouldn't have interfered. I'll apologize to Ms. Ramirez and beg for her forgiveness. Just don't send me away."

No way was she gonna take Ramond and leave! Once she was out of the Abbott family, she was a nobody with nothing!

She'd schemed so hard to stay in the Abbott family; leaving with Ramond was not an option.

Vivian never thought Aaron would boot her and Ramond out for Nova.

"It's too late. I've given you plenty of chances, and you blew them. Either you leave, or you take Ramond and leave. Your call!"

Aaron, done wasting time with Vivian, turned to Tyler and said, "Make sure she leaves the hospital right now."

"Aaron, you can't do this to me! Aunt Maud..."

A bodyguard clamped a hand over Vivian's mouth, dragging her out of the hospital with no chance to fight back.

Aaron then walked into the ward and looked at Maud. "Mom, you need to rest up here in the hospital."

"Aaron, do you really have to donate the bone marrow? It's not scary, but the process isn't easy, and you'll suffer. Can't we find more matches and have the Abbott family cover the costs?"

Aaron replied calmly, "I've already agreed to the match, and I've started the meds since last night. No turning back now; everything's set."

Maud's eyes filled with anger. "Do you care about that kid so much?"

She couldn't wrap her head around why Aaron was so good to Nova!

Aaron frowned. "She's my daughter."

"I really don't know what Nova did to you!"

He was dead set on being with Nova. Luckily, Lillian was just a daughter and not a son; otherwise, what would happen to Ramond in the future?

"Mom, you should rest now."

Aaron didn't want to explain more. He turned and left the ward, heading downstairs.

Maud watched Aaron leave, her face full of frustration, but there was nothing she could do. Once he made up his mind, she couldn't stop him.

Aaron went downstairs and saw Susanna outside, seemingly giving orders to her secretary.

She had ditched her usual laid-back vibe and looked serious and focused, exuding authority with every move.

He got closer, catching her voice as he approached. "I don't want excuses; I want results. I paid him a lot to solve problems. If he can't, he's not fit for the job. Give him one more week, and if he can't handle it, he should resign."

Susanna was a bit ticked off, but when she noticed Aaron approaching, she adjusted her expression and said to Aaron, "Mr. Abbott, how are you feeling? I heard the injections have side effects."

His tone was calm. "I'm fine."

Susanna thought for a moment and then asked, "How's your mom?"

"Nothing serious, she'll be fine after a few days of rest."

After that, Aaron stayed quiet, not mentioning Maud's fall at all. Susanna looked at him suspiciously. "Aren't you gonna ask me why she fell?"

"No need."

"You don't suspect me? Ms. Nguyen didn't complain to you, saying I pissed off your mom or pushed her?"

After all, that's how it usually went down in TV dramas; it was a classic move by sneaky supporting female characters to dodge blame.

Aaron was quiet for a sec. "You're not that kind of person."

Now it was Susanna's turn to be caught off guard. She didn't expect him to trust her that much. She said awkwardly, "I had the surveillance footage ready to clear my name when you came to see me. But I guess I didn't need it."

Aaron gave her a deep look. "You think I can't tell right from wrong?"

"Guys tend to favor those who play the damsel in distress. Can't take that lightly."

Aaron felt like she was throwing some shade his way.

He glanced at Lillian in the hospital room and asked, "Is she ready?"

Susanna replied naturally, "She's calmed down. I told her to watch you give blood and not to waste your kindness. She should agree by then."

Aaron nodded. "We can start the day after tomorrow."

Susanna thought for a moment and said, "Now that your mom knows about this, she'll be dead set against your bone marrow donation. Is everything cool on her end?"

"I've explained to my mom what bone marrow donation is all about. She’s against it because she doesn’t get it."

Susanna nodded. "That's good."

But she didn't think Maud was that reasonable. Even if Aaron explained the donation process, Maud probably wouldn't agree.

So it must have been Aaron who showed Maud how determined he was to donate bone marrow to Lillian.

She knew he might have figured out her and Lillian's identities, which was why he was so determined to donate.

Susanna didn't say much more. After all, as Lillian's dad, Aaron had an obligation to do so.

The next day, Aaron kept up with the injections, making the final preparations.

Susanna brought Lillian to see Aaron. This time, Aaron lay weak on the bed, looking pale.

Seeing this, she immediately asked the doctor, "What's wrong? He looks terrible."

"This is the roughest part. It'll get better after today. The meds are only for today, and the side effects are pretty harsh."

Lillian stepped forward, holding Aaron's hand, and blew on the back of his hand. "Uncle Aaron, I'll blow on it for you, then it won't hurt anymore."

Aaron mustered his strength to look at Lillian. "You gotta be brave, there's nothing really scary about surgery."

"I know, I'll be brave!"

Aaron forced a smile and patted Lillian's head. "After I finish tomorrow, I'll be with you. With me here, there's nothing to fear."

"Okay!"

Lillian held Aaron's big hand, her small face resting on it.

Seeing this, Susanna suddenly looked up at the ceiling. Although the plan was going smoothly, she felt a bit guilty.

After all, she had been lying to Aaron!

As Susanna pondered, ready to say something, the door to the ward was forcefully pushed open.

"Aaron, are you okay? What's going on?"

Maud, wearing a hospital gown, rushed in. Seeing Aaron pale on the bed, she angrily said, "You said you were fine, but look at you now!"

"Mom, why are you here? I'm really fine."

Maud looked at Lillian beside the bed and loudly said, "Is this the bad child with leukemia?"

Lillian seriously corrected her, "I'm not a bad child!"

"If you're not a bad child, then what are you? A child without a father is a bad child!"

Susanna's face instantly turned cold. She stepped forward to shield Lillian and glared at Maud. "Saying such things in front of a child, don't you feel ashamed?"

Maud snorted, "What, am I wrong?"

Lillian peeked out. "No, Mommy says a child without love is a bad child."

"You don't have a father, so how can you say you're loved?"

Aaron interrupted, "Mom, stop it."

Lillian said in a clear voice, "I have a daddy. Aaron is my daddy!"
