Chapter 161 Transforming into a Flirtatious Expert
Susanna found Aaron's words a bit baffling; she simply didn't want to get too close to him.
'What is this about being afraid of being seen by someone? I didn't do anything wrong.'
She answered recklessly, "That's right. I'm worried about being seen and misunderstood."
'Maud and Erica are both here. Isn't he worried about being misunderstood by Erica?' she thought to herself.
Thinking of this, Susanna suddenly blurted out, "By the way, why did you cancel your engagement with Erica back then?"
Susanna had wanted to ask this for a long time but never had the chance.
Now that Maria's surgery had started, proving their relationship was on a countdown, she suddenly got a bit gossipy.
Aaron squinted his eyes slightly. "What do you think?"
Was Susanna asking a question she already knew the answer to?
It was Susanna who convinced Austin to perform the surgery on Maria, but she said nothing and let Erica take advantage, using it as an excuse to threaten a fake engagement with Aaron in exchange.
On the day of the engagement, if Austin hadn't told him the truth, Aaron would have been kept in the dark!
What did Susanna mean by this?
Susanna's eyes lit up instantly. "Could it be that you suddenly saw Erica's true colors and stopped in time on the road to moral decay, so you canceled the engagement?"
Aaron gritted his teeth and said, "Susanna, what on earth are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking about you."
Susanna answered instinctively, then realized something was off; it sounded like she was flirting with him.
She immediately shut her mouth and said nothing.
When Aaron heard her response, his expression became somewhat unnatural. "Susanna, I finally understand why you have so many men around you. You must be sweet-talking all of them, right?"
Why hadn't he noticed before that she was so good at sweet-talking and flirting?
Susanna blushed, but she didn't want to be insulted by Aaron like this. She retorted shamelessly, "Stop slandering me! What do you mean by me sweet-talking men? I've only sweet-talked one man before, and that's you!"
After Susanna finished, Aaron remarked, "Susanna, what nonsense are you talking about?"
'What sweet-talking? I had never asked you to do that!' Aaron said to himself.
Over the past three years, their relationship had been as pure as snow, except for that one mishap!
Susanna quickly became aware of her slip of the tongue, feeling a rush of heat to her cheeks. She promptly clarified, "What nonsense? You're obviously overthinking, and your mind is full of dirty thoughts."
Aaron's eyelid twitched. "I'm thinking dirty? Clearly, it's you who has a filthy mind!"
"How am I filthy-minded? Tell me, and I'll explain it to you," said Susanna.
She was unwilling to back down and looked at him defiantly.
Aaron looked down at her innocent eyes, his throat moving slightly. He licked his thin lips and said in a hoarse voice, "You're the one who said you sweet-talked."
"What else? Didn't I sweet-talk you back then?"
She had always tried to figure out his preferences, waiting for him to come home from work, thinking carefully about what to say and when to say it.
Every time she said what he wanted to hear, wasn't that sweet-talking?
The nearby assistant, catching wind of the escalating discussion, discreetly took a few steps back, preferring not to overhear any unintended revelations.
Who would have thought that Aaron, who usually appeared so aloof and uninterested in women, had such a colorful private life?
Aaron looked down at the woman in front of him and said coldly, "Susanna, you can shut up now."
Any other woman might have blushed and maintained a dignified silence upon hearing such words, but she, contrary to expectations, fearlessly engaged in a spirited debate with him!
He had never seen a woman as tough as Susanna!
Susanna was a bit unhappy and muttered, "Obviously, you started the argument. Your mind is dirty, so everything you hear is dirty!"
This topic couldn't continue.
Aaron said nothing, and Susanna lowered her head to calm down. It was all Aaron's fault for saying those things and making her say the wrong things!
The atmosphere between them became awkward.
Susanna looked up at the ceiling, feeling the silence was too awkward, and continued, "By the way, you haven't answered my question yet."
Aaron had been staring at the computer, but he hadn't read a single word. Hearing her soft voice, he asked, "Don't you know the reason?"
"Should I know the reason?" Susanna felt more and more puzzled. She turned her head to look at the man in front of her, not understanding his expression.
Aaron inquired softly, "Are you so concerned about why I canceled the engagement?"
Susanna's eyes momentarily averted, as if recoiling from a sudden flame. "Oh, it was just a passing question out of curiosity. You need not feel obligated to respond."
Aaron asked, "Why do you want to know?"
She took a deep breath. "So I can mock Erica. How could I pass up such a good opportunity?"
Aaron realized he had overthought it.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Aaron glanced at the document she had placed beside her. "This document is not suitable for you to keep. It's best not to disclose it, to avoid affecting the company's stock price. After all, the heir is no small matter."
"I know, but this document is just a piece of waste paper since there are no children, right?"
Susanna answered calmly, "Everything we're doing is for Maria to have a successful surgery, so I don't care about or take anything seriously during this time."
Aaron nodded and hesitated for a moment before saying, "Actually, you've changed a lot during this time."
He had seen the real Susanna and realized that his previous prejudices against her were unfounded; she wasn't the person he had thought she was.
Susanna replied, "We're about to get divorced, so why say these things?"
Aaron frowned. "Susanna, can you say something nice?"
"Sure, but I charge extra for nice words."
Aaron smiled. "Alright, how much extra?"
"Not much, a thousand dollars per word."
Susanna answered casually, not wanting to continue the conversation.
Aaron's deep voice came from beside her. "Cash or card?"
Susanna looked at him in surprise. "Is he truly entertaining her frivolous remarks? Could it be that Aaron is beginning to compromise his dignity as she becomes more unrestrained?"
Aaron took out his wallet, looking like he was about to give her money. Susanna blurted out, "Do you really want me to sweet-talk you that much?"
