Chapter 86 Her Brother Was not to be Trifled With
Susanna saw Erica walking ahead and was surprised to encounter her there, which affected her mood a bit.
Erica suddenly turned around and saw Susanna, who was also feeling very unhappy.
Erica just hung up Elaine's call. She had just learned about what happened at the studio today but didn't expect Susanna to get away so easily.
Erica thought, 'Where did Susanna find those videos, photos, and evidence, and even make Daniel's law firm personally investigate this matter's responsibility!'
Erica felt unhappy and coldly turned and walked away.
Susanna watched her approach and turned to Dick. "I met an acquaintance, chatted for a few minutes, and you went first and waited for me."
Dick nodded and walked directly to the side to give them space to talk.
Susanna turned her face and glanced at Erica. "Was it you and Elaine who orchestrated the Allison incident?"
"I didn't expect you to get away so easily. It's quite surprising. But all of this doesn't matter. I am about to get engaged to Aaron, and I will invite my brothers to attend the engagement. You better behave, lest my brothers find out what you've done; they won't let you off the hook."
Susanna crossed her hands in front of her. "If I find anything with you in this incident, I won't let you off either."
"Alright, as long as you can find evidence! Besides, you don't know, the famous law firm in Novaria is owned by my brother. Don't be too pleased; with just one phone call from me, they definitely won't help you."
At this point, Erica suddenly looked towards the restaurant's entrance, immediately changing the subject. "Susanna, I didn't expect your romantic relationships to be quite good. You actually took the initiative to have dinner with other men without Zachary. If he finds out about this, do you think he won't abandon you?"
Upon hearing this, Susanna knew Erica had misunderstood something, but she didn't explain. "This is not something you should be concerned about. Even if I am dating several men at the same time, it's none of your business."
After saying this, she noticed Erica's smile was a bit weird, seemingly filled with excitement.
Susanna felt the atmosphere was not right. She turned and met those narrow and deep eyes, instantly stiffening her expression.
No wonder this despicable Erica suddenly changed the subject; it was because Aaron had arrived.
Susanna quickly eased her expression; she was currently going through a divorce with Aaron, so there was nothing for her to fear.
She decisively turned and walked towards Dick. "Let's go."
Dick glanced over at Aaron and Erica, then tentatively looked at Susanna. "How do you know them? Isn't that Aaron, the heir of the Abbott's Group, and his rumored fiancee?"
Upon hearing this, Susanna's expression froze. "You know who they are?"
Aaron usually keeps a low profile; only a few people know him.
Dick said, "I happened to see them at an event once, and someone mentioned that it was Aaron."
Susanna lowered her eyelids. "I used to work as Maria's caregiver, so I know people from the Abbott family."
"That's the way it was."
Dick turned back and saw a pair of sharp and deep eyes; Aaron's imposing aura made it hard to meet his gaze; he felt a sense of hostility.
Dick looked down at Susanna beside him. He thought, 'was this all my imagination?'
Susanna never turned back throughout.
Aaron stood still, withdrew his gaze, and turned to walk towards another elevator.
Erica followed. "Aaron, I want to invite my brothers to attend the engagement; what do you think?"
Aaron's tone was indifferent. "Whatever."
Their marriage was just a transaction anyway.
Erica smiled. "Aaron, are you here for business? Can I join you for dinner?"
"No need. This is a men's gathering table. Do you want to be seen as a side dish?" Aaron said coldly and entered the elevator.
Erica couldn't follow even if she wanted to; she could only watch the elevator doors close.
Erica was somewhat unwilling, but for now, she could only accept it. However, if Aaron agreed to let her invite her brothers to the engagement, that would be fine.
She turned around happily and called Edward. "Edward, I have something to tell you."
At the Jones family's villa, Edward sat on the sofa. "Go ahead."
"Edward, Aaron and I are getting engaged in a few days; this is important to me. I hope to have family present that day, so can you, Arthur, and Austin come to my engagement?" Erica asked.
Edward frowned slightly; he really didn't like Aaron.
He answered vaguely, "It depends on the situation; I can only come if I'm free."
"Edward, you must make time to come. If none of my family attended, it would look so lonely for me. Grandma always said if I got married, she would definitely participate in my wedding, but Lindwell is too far, and I want to leave her just for an engagement." Erica said.
Edward's brow furrowed. "Don't tell Grandma about this so that she won't insist on going to Lindwell. Her health isn't great; a long flight like that could easily worsen her condition."
Erica showed a mocking expression, but her tone remained the same. "That's what I thought, so I wanted to invite you, Arthur, and Austin to come."
Edward fell silent for a moment. "Austin is already in Lindwell, so he can definitely come. I will tell him. I will try to make time to come."
"Thank you."
After hanging up the phone, Erica thought mockingly, as long as that crazy old lady is mentioned, Edward will definitely compromise.
She endured it a bit longer; once she married Aaron and became his wife, she wouldn't have to be so cautious anymore.
In the restaurant's private room, Susanna finished dinner with Dick.
Dick was very gentlemanly. "Susanna, I'm sorry about the Allison incident. If I hadn't let Allison come to the studio, this wouldn't have happened."
"Dick, it's not your fault."
Susanna knew that behind Allison were Elaine and Erica; with only Allison, that coward, she wouldn't have been able to shake her.
In this world, without power or influence, she could only swallow her pride.
She went to the restroom, saw herself in the mirror, and remembered the scene of Aaron and Erica coming to the restaurant for dinner. She thought, 'They should be done by now, right?'
She touched her belly; now that she had a baby, there was nothing she cared about further.
As Susanna walked out of the restroom, she coincidentally bumped into Aaron, who was walking towards her. Her gaze subconsciously looked behind him, and she did not see Erica.
Susanna thought, 'Was he alone?'
The man's gaze fell on her hand resting on her belly.
