Chapter 414 Mr. Abbott Can't Afford Medical Bills
Aaron's brow scrunched up. "Where the hell are my secretary and bodyguard?"
The nurse shrugged. "After you got here yesterday, everyone bailed. They didn't pay the bills or leave any contact info."
"No way."
Aaron knew something was fishy. His crew wouldn't just ditch him.
He reached under his pillow, but his phone was MIA.
Tyler should have his phone, but now Tyler and the bodyguards were AWOL.
Aaron had a pretty good idea who was pulling the strings.
Looked like the Jones family was playing dirty to take him out.
Facing this mess, Aaron kept his cool. "Once I get ahold of them, I'll cover the bills. Chill, I won't stiff you."
Susanna stood nearby, piecing together that Aaron's crew probably got nabbed by Brian's goons.
The plan? Leave Aaron stranded and screwed in the hospital.
"Sorry, sir, but we've had too many cases like this. You need a family member to pay up now, or we gotta discharge you."
Aaron's eyes darted to Susanna at the door.
Susanna felt a bad vibe.
Aaron's lips twitched. "She's my family."
Could she still bail now?
Standing at the door, Susanna felt a sinking feeling after hearing Aaron's words.
She shot back, "Mr. Abbott, you can't just say stuff. Since when am I your family?"
Aaron replied, dead serious, "You're my girlfriend. If not family, then what?"
"But we broke up on the plane."
"I didn't agree, so we didn't break up."
Susanna clenched her teeth in frustration.
She glared at the nurse. "Even if I'm his girlfriend, I'm not his family. You can't make me pay!"
The doctor, recognizing Susanna, immediately put on a kiss-up face. "Ms. Jones, of course, we believe you."
The nurse chimed in, "Ms. Jones, don't worry. We know he's just trying to mooch off you. We won't buy his crap!"
Aaron, used to being the top dog in Lindwell, had never been dissed like this.
He never thought he'd be looked down on one day.
This was a slap in the face!
Aaron gritted his teeth. "Susanna, do you think I'm the kind of guy they're talking about? Tell them who I am!"
Susanna rolled her eyes and said calmly, "We clearly broke up on the plane. I told you to leave me alone, but you had to show up in front of my brothers and got your ass kicked. It's not my fault you got hurt."
The nurse nodded quickly. "See, I told you he's that kind of guy, trying to leech off Ms. Jones. Now he can't even pay the bills and wants to skip out!"
Aaron was fuming.
Would he, the CEO of the mighty Abbott Group, really be broke like this?
Seeing this, Susanna sighed. "Alright, I'll be a saint today and cover your bills. After this, we're done!"
Aaron shot back coldly, "I don't agree to break up!"
The doctor chimed in, "Ms. Jones has paid your bills. Don't push it. Ms. Jones is a real gem. Maybe pick better next time."
Aaron's face turned stormy.
The nurse sneered. "You can't even cover your own bills and still wanna cling to Ms. Jones? Seriously?"
Aaron was about ready to explode. He swore that once he was back on his feet, this hospital was going down!
After the doctor and nurse left, the room fell silent again.
Susanna had been holding back her laughter. Once they were gone, she burst out laughing. "I never thought I'd see you like this!"
Aaron gritted his teeth. "Had enough?"
"Not even close. Let me enjoy this a bit more."
Susanna was laughing so hard her stomach hurt; she had never seen Aaron in such a pathetic state before.
Aaron had always been so cocky and proud. She never thought he'd be so down and out one day.
"Susanna, did you set this up? Where are my people?"
Susanna stopped laughing and poured herself a glass of water. After a few sips, she said, "Don't pin this on me. I had nothing to do with your secretary and bodyguard disappearing."
"Do you really think it has nothing to do with you? Who else but the Jones family could snatch my bodyguard and secretary in Novaria?"
Susanna thought for a moment. "Maybe it's Brian. I warned you not to be so arrogant. Now you've learned your lesson."
Aaron gritted his teeth. "I slipped up this time, but I'm not someone to mess with."
"But now you have no secretary, no bodyguard, not even a phone, and you can't pay your bills. How are you gonna prove you're not someone to mess with? Stubbornness needs some muscle behind it!"
Susanna also figured her brothers were behind Aaron's crew disappearing. But seeing the high-and-mighty Aaron get knocked down a peg was pretty entertaining.
After a moment of silence, Aaron said, "Help me get my phone back."
"Why should I help you? You gotta beg me."
Aaron's eyes narrowed, clearly pissed.
Susanna said righteously, "Are you mad? This is what Maud and Vivian said to me when I asked for bone marrow. I'm just giving you a taste of your own medicine. Fair, right?"
Aaron was silent for a moment before replying, "I'll give you an explanation for that when I get back."
"You're wrong. I don't need your explanation. I can give myself an explanation. I don't need to rely on anyone!"
Her tone was calm, like it was no big deal.
Aaron looked at Susanna, who was confident and radiant. It was clear the Jones family had taken good care of her over the past four years.
Susanna calmly said, "The old Susanna waited for your explanation and ended up like that. But I'm not her!"
She glanced at Aaron on the hospital bed. "I'll have my secretary get you a ticket for tomorrow. Leave Novaria as soon as possible."
"You wanna kick me out?"
