Chapter 189 You Have No Right to Take Away My Child
After Susanna finished speaking, she saw the man in front of her confidently admit, "Yeah, it was me."
Was she hallucinating again?
Aaron saw her stunned expression and said, "Why are you so surprised? Didn't you know it was me?"
Suddenly, Aaron's mood soured.
Susanna hesitated for a moment before saying, "I thought it was my brother."
"Your brother? Where did you get a brother from?"
Susanna realized and immediately went on the offensive, "Aaron, I haven't even asked you yet, why did you hit Dick? And beat him up like that?"
If she hadn't suspected her brother, she wouldn't have come to the hospital and been repulsed by Harper and Dick.
Aaron snorted, "I couldn't stand him, is that not allowed?"
Susanna felt incredibly helpless. If it hadn't been for Aaron's actions, she wouldn't have ended up at the hospital, witnessing Harper and Dick's behavior that left her disgusted for days.
Initially, she suspected Brian, only to discover that it was Aaron all along!
After hearing this, Susanna picked up the pillow from the bedside and threw it at Aaron, yelling, "Are you crazy? Can you give me a heads-up next time? I definitely won't meddle!"
’If Dick wants to call the cops, let him. It's none of my business. Regardless of catastrophic outcomes, Aaron will persevere unscathed.,’ she thought, rolling her eyes.
Susanna snapped, "Just go. I don't want to see you right now."
She thought it was her brother who did it, but it turned out to be Aaron.
Aaron deftly sidestepped and looked down at her. "If it had been me who did this, would you be reacting the same way?"
He had just thought she was doing it for him!
Susanna raised an eyebrow. "Your demeanor shapes mine, fair game, right? Three years back, in the face of your near-death crash, did I not wed you? And in recompense? Only a fool tumbles into the same trap twice!
"How can you anticipate a repeat descent without testing?" Aaron retorted.
Susanna didn't quite catch what he said and looked at Aaron with wide eyes.
Aaron's expression turned slightly strained. "Who's your brother? You still haven't answered my question."
Susanna looked a bit guilty. "He's my brother from back home."
She didn't want to tell Aaron that she had found her family. After all, she was planning to leave in a few months and go live in Novaria. The more she said now, the more information she would reveal, and the easier it would be to be found. For the sake of the child in her belly, she had to be cautious.
Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly. "What brother do you have at home? Weren't you an orphan?"
"Can't I have a big family?" Susanna shot back.
The next second, Aaron looked at Susanna's belly, his tone a bit cold. "Is he the father of the child you're carrying?"
Upon hearing this, Susanna's face paled, her mind racing. 'Does he know? Does he know about the baby?'
When Susanna woke up earlier, she had been worried about the child's safety, but seeing Aaron made her forget her anxiety. She had been holding onto a sliver of hope that Aaron didn't know she was pregnant. But now reality told her that holding onto hope was futile.
Susanna had imagined the scene of being discovered by Aaron. She tried to calm herself down. Now Aaron only knew she was pregnant, not that the child was his. As long as she didn't admit the child was his, she could protect the child in her belly.
Since Aaron had been clear from the start about not wanting children, if he found out about her pregnancy, he would undoubtedly insist on her having an abortion.
In an instant, Susanna made a decision and said, "Yes, you are right!"
"Good, very good! So you were in such a hurry to divorce because you were pregnant with another man's child, right? I knew there was a reason for your sudden change in attitude, divorcing just like that. Turns out you not only found a man but also had a child!"
Aaron's face looked very unpleasant, his gaze piercing.
In just a few seconds, her back was covered in cold sweat, afraid he would catch any flaw.
Susanna couldn't afford to take any risks now that the pregnancy had advanced. She had recently discovered the option of a paternity test. Her hand, hidden under the blanket, clenched tightly as she pretended to be calm. "The child was conceived after we signed the divorce agreement. Legally, I haven't done anything wrong."
Now Susanna found herself somewhat relieved that Aaron perceived her in a certain light. It would make it easier to explain the child's existence.
"But we haven't completed the divorce procedures yet. You are still my wife!" Aaron said.
"But haven't you also gotten engaged to Erica? What's the difference?" Susanna retorted.
She said earnestly, "Aaron, we are upholding this superficial relationship for Maria's sake, and we agreed not to meddle in each other's personal lives. I have not breached our agreement."
After she finished speaking, she felt a silent yet particularly oppressive pressure from him. But she couldn't afford to retreat even a single step. If he sensed anything unusual, the child would be in danger.
Aaron's throat moved slightly. "But our agreement doesn't include you being pregnant!"
"Does it include you getting engaged to Erica?" Susanna shot back, unwilling to back down.
At this moment, she was like a mother lion protecting her cub, suddenly filled with courage!
Aaron bent down to look at her, his long, narrow eyes dark and deep. He said, "No man can accept being cheated on, Susanna. I'll give you a choice."
He slowly approached, and Susanna instinctively retreated, but her back was already against the headboard, leaving no room to retreat. She widened her eyes and looked at the approaching man, almost able to see his handsome features; his skin was very good, with fine pores. His skin was even better than hers.
They were so close they could feel each other's breath.
Susanna pressed her lips together. "What other choice do I have?"
"Abort the child!" Aaron said bluntly.
"No!" Susanna almost didn't hesitate as she promptly rejected Aaron's demand. At the same time, her heart sank to the bottom. As expected, he wouldn't keep the child.
Aaron's gaze was ice-cold. "Do you really think I'm giving you a choice? Since you don't want the choice, forget it. I'll arrange for a doctor to perform the procedure."
"No!" Susanna grabbed his arm, her eyes filled with a hint of pleading. "Please!"
Aaron pinched her chin, his voice cold. "Why do you even bother pleading with me? Until we finalize the divorce, you are still my wife. How dare you carry another man's child? Do you really think I'm some kind of saint?"
Susanna instantly fell into despair. She shouted, "Aaron, you have no right to take away my child!"
"It's not even my child," said Aaron.
"Who says it's not?"
