Chapter 223 Who Exactly Is the Person She Is Looking For

Erica was immediately overwhelmed with panic and she recalled that Susanna didn't look much like she did as a child. But those eyeswere the same, and they stirred something deep in Erica's memory.

How had she missed this? If she'd figured it out sooner, she could've made Susanna disappear before she ever met the Jones family.

The idea that Susanna might be the real heir to the Jones family was a problem Erica couldn't ignore.

Why hadn't anyone in the Jones family noticed Susanna's true identity, despite her long-standing connection with Austin and the Jones brothers? The whole thing seemed fishy, and Erica needed to get to the bottom of it.

Back when they were kids, Susanna had mentioned her family was rich and lived in a big house. Had she never told the Jones family about this?

The more Erica thought about it, the more anxious she became. She had to find Susanna and get some answers, or she'd never sleep again!

Just then, a girl walked up to Erica with a smile. "Ms. Jones, thanks for recommending me for the music team. I just met Peter, and he said he admired me."

Erica barely reacted. "Congrats."

"Oh, and Ms. Jones, I  foundthe person who played that song."

Erica, already knowing it was Susanna, replied coolly, "Do you really need to tell me? The performance was pretty obvious."

"No, Ms. Jones, you got it wrong. The person you're looking for isn't Susanna. It's someone else."

Erica's eyes widened. "What did you say? Someone else?"

A spark of hope lit up inside her. 'Anyone but Susanna,' she thought.

The girl lowered her voice. "Ms. Jones, I can take you to her. She's not from the music academy; she's a literature student named Wendy. She's an orphan on a scholarship."

"Where is she? Take me to her now." Erica was desperate to figure out who the real heir was.

Soon, Erica met Wendy outside. She wore plain clothes and black-framed glasses, blending into the crowd.

At first glance, Erica knew Wendy wasn't the person she was looking for. As she was too plain, not fitting the Jones family image.

But Susanna had that Jones family vibe. Still, Erica secretly hoped Wendy was the true heir.

Erica quickly made up her mind. She turned to the girl who had helped her. "Thanks for finding my childhood friend. I need to talk to her alone. I'll treat you to a meal later."

"No need, it's my honor to help you, Ms. Jones. I'll leave you to it."

After the girl from the music academy left, Wendy took a quick look at Erica, who was dressed in designer clothes that even made the usually confident music academy queen feel a bit envious. It was clear Erica came from serious money.

Wendy asked, a bit puzzled, "Why are you looking for me?"

Erica pulled out her phone and played a piece of music. "Is this the piano piece you played in the music room?"

"Yes, it is," Wendy replied, still confused. "Ms. Jones, you said you were looking for a childhood friend?"

"That's right. When I was a kid, I got lost near an orphanage, and a kid from there helped me. I haven't lived in Lindwell for years, and now that I'm back, I want to find my childhood friend. But things have changed, and I can't find her. The only clue I have is this piano piece, which only she can play," Erica explained.

Wendy immediately thought of Susanna, who had taught her that piano piece.

They came from the same orphanage, but Wendy was two years younger, Susanna was already gone by the time Wendy arrived.

Because of their shared background, Wendy had always liked Susanna. She smiled. "I know where she is."

The person Erica was looking for was definitely Susanna!

Wendy felt a twinge of jealousy at Susanna's luck. It was like a plot twist from one of her stories, unfolding right before her eyes.

Seeing Wendy's expression, Erica quickly interrupted, "I really want to find that friend and see how she's doing. If she's not doing well, I will definitely help her."

Hearing this, Wendy felt even more envious of Susanna.

The next second, Erica grabbed Wendy's hand. "I know, the person I'm looking for is you. You must be wondering why I didn't come back to find you all these years, right? Due to the distance and nearly getting lost at the orphanage, my brothers forbade my return to Lindwell. So I could only come to find you now. Don't worry, you're still my best friend. Whatever you need in the future, I can help, even with publishing a book and adapting your stories.."

As Wendy listened to Erica's enticing promises, temptation crept in. 'Publish a book? Adapt my stories?' The thought raced through her mind. 'Could this be my ticket to instant fame and fortune?'

A spark of ambition ignited in Wendy's eyes. Coming from an orphan background, she had faced countless pitying glances. But deep down, she wanted to prove herself, to show the world her true worth. With this golden opportunity, should she seize it and leave pity behind?

For a moment, Wendy hesitated. She knew Susanna had taught her the piano piece, and Erica might soon find out the truth.

She tentatively asked, "But there was also a girl playing this piece in the auditorium. How can you be sure it's me and not her?"

Erica's lips curled up slightly. She thought, 'Finally, she asked the question. Does that mean she's tempted?'
