Chapter 359 This Kind of Apology Lacks Sincerity
Susanna gave a nod. "Got it. Once I'm done with this bone marrow thing, I'll swing by Madison's place."
Even though she had lost her memory, she knew that when her adoptive parents almost ditched her and left her to starve, it was Madison who swooped in, took care of her, and got her through college.
Susanna was always super grateful to her.
Over the years, to keep her identity on the down-low, Edward and Aviana were the ones keeping in touch with Madison, sending her stuff regularly. But Susanna always worried about Madison's health.
Madison, on the other hand, thought Susanna was long gone.
But this time, Susanna was gonna give her a big surprise!
After hanging up, Susanna sat by the hospital bed, touched Lillian's forehead, and then looked at her assistant. "So, how did she really pass out?"
"The doc said Miss Jones ate a huge chunk of chocolate, freaked out that you'd find out, and then the nurse suggested she take a nap. And boom, she actually fell asleep."
Susanna gently pried open Lillian's mouth and, sure enough, saw chocolate traces on her teeth. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Lillian always knew how to keep things interesting.
After pulling herself together, she asked her assistant, "Did Charles's blood sample get sent over?"
"Mr. Brown took care of it. We're just waiting for Mr. Abbott to donate blood tomorrow."
Susanna glanced at the night outside. No matter what, she had to save Charles first.
The next morning, Susanna bought Lillian her favorite breakfast and snacks.
Lillian was munching away happily.
"Mommy, did I do good yesterday?"
"You were awesome. You're quite the little actress. You even had me fooled; I thought Ramond had knocked you out."
"Mommy, I don't like Ramond. The way he looks at me is so annoying."
Lillian pouted, looking a bit miffed.
Susanna patted Lillian's head. "I know. Anyway, we won't be dealing with them anymore."
Lillian was pretty sensitive. Maybe she picked up on the weird vibes between Ramond and Aaron, which is why she didn't like Ramond.
But now, Susanna was also curious about what was up between Ramond and Aaron.
Last night, she had straight-up asked Aaron, but he said Ramond wasn't his kid.
But judging by Vivian's face, things weren't that simple. After breakfast with Lillian, Susanna checked the time. It was almost time for the test results.
Just then, there was some noise outside.
Susanna thought she heard Vivian's voice. Remembering what went down at the restaurant yesterday, a flash of annoyance crossed her face.
Hadn't she told Aaron she didn't want to see Vivian again?
Lillian looked towards the door. "Mommy, what's going on outside?"
"I'll go check. You stay here and finish your food."
Susanna didn't want Lillian to know too much, so she turned and left the room, only to see Vivian being stopped by the bodyguards.
Her expression turned icy. She hadn't expected Vivian to actually show up.
Even though Lillian had faked fainting at the restaurant last night, it was still a fact that Vivian's son had hit Lillian. Lillian still had a bump on her forehead.
Susanna strutted over in her high heels and coldly asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Ms. Ramirez, I'm here to apologize. Yesterday at the restaurant, Ramond and Lillian had a little scuffle while playing. As a boy, Ramond shouldn't have hit a girl, so I came to check on Lillian."
"That's not necessary."
When Susanna saw Vivian's face, she knew she wasn't really there to apologize. It was all just a show to keep up her "nice" image.
"Ms. Ramirez, please, let me make it right. Ramond's been spoiled by the Abbott family. I already gave him a good scolding."
"No need for all that. Just record a video of you scolding Ramond and send it to me. No need to come here in person. A polite lie doesn't seem sincere."
Vivian's face froze. She hadn't expected Susanna to say that.
Vivian cursed inwardly. She had only said that to put on a show. How could she actually scold Ramond? She thought Ramond had done well by teaching Lillian a lesson. After all, Ramond was part of the Abbott family.
But Aaron had chewed her out over the phone and even cut off her credit card, telling her to spend less on shopping and more time on Ramond.
Although Vivian was unwilling, she had come to apologize. Whether Susanna accepted it or not didn't matter; it was all for Aaron to see.
But now, Susanna wanted her to record a video of her scolding Ramond. That was impossible!
Vivian reluctantly replied, "Ms. Ramirez, you may not know, but Ramond is a child of the Abbott family. Even though I'm his mother, I don't have the authority to scold him. Mrs. Maud Abbott dotes on him."
Hearing the underlying boast in Vivian's words, Susanna raised an eyebrow and said, "Honestly, I'm curious. Is Ramond really Aaron's kid?"
"Ms. Ramirez, let's not beat around the bush. You can clearly see the relationship between Ramond and Aaron. Ramond has been with the Abbott family since birth."
Susanna wasn't too surprised by Vivian's answer.
She thought to herself, 'So Ramond was indeed Aaron's son?'
Susanna quickly composed herself and calmly said, "Ms. Nguyen, it seems you've come to terms with it, not caring about having the title of Mrs. Abbott."
"I don't care about titles. As long as Ramond can stay in the Abbott family, that's enough."
Vivian deliberately spoke ambiguously, her tone carrying a hint of pride. "Ms. Ramirez, I heard you had a conflict with Mrs. Maud Abbott. You need to understand that after getting married, you should consider her opinions, especially since you have a child. Starting off by offending her, how's that gonna help you?"
From Vivian's expression, Susanna guessed that Maud's sudden appearance at the café that day was probably due to something Vivian had said, causing Maud to come looking for trouble.
With a slight smile, Susanna said, "Ms. Nguyen, you're wrong. Only women without power, influence, or a man's affection need to consider Mrs. Maud Abbott's opinion. I've got everything I need and don't need to cater to anyone."
Vivian's face instantly darkened, her jealousy uncontrollable. If her status were higher, she wouldn't be much worse than Nova!
Seeing the doctor coming out of the elevator, Susanna immediately frowned and said, "Ms. Nguyen, please leave and don't come back."
With that, she walked towards the doctor and asked, "Are the test results out?"
The doctor nodded.
Susanna said, "Let's talk in the consultation room."
A look of curiosity flashed in Vivian's eyes. She thought to herself, 'Could Lillian really be injured?'
She tried to follow secretly but was stopped by the bodyguards. "Please leave immediately."
Unwillingly, Vivian left the floor, planning to find out what the test results were.
Meanwhile, Susanna went to the office with the doctor and immediately took out her phone to call Aaron. "Mr. Abbott, Lillian has been diagnosed with leukemia."
