Chapter 97 Is It Just a Coincidence?

Austin glanced at the phone and answered, "What's up?"

"Austin, Edward and Aviana flew in today, did you know?"

"Oh, really? How come I didn't know about this?"

Austin guessed that Erica was trying to get information, but he didn't say anything.

Just now, in a small group chat, he mentioned the incident where Erica secretly went to the airport with Aviana, almost being seen by Susanna, so he didn't want to tell Erica.

At this moment, Erica was in the airport parking lot, waiting for Edward and Aviana to come out. Her expression was somewhat suspicious. "Austin, you really don't know?"

"I've been busy all this time, how would I know?"

"Edward and Aviana really came. I arrived at the airport a bit late and missed them. Can you call and ask where they are so we can have a meal together? After all, they are here for my engagement party, and I need to host them."

Austin vaguely replied, "Let me finish my work first."

Of course, he wouldn't actually ask.

Erica felt a bit dissatisfied deep down. What he said was clearly an excuse, as she continued, "Austin, do you know why Edward decided to acquire a very small manufacturing company this time? Our real estate company has no connection with a manufacturing company. It's really surprising that Edward suddenly decided to acquire this company."

The main point is that this company happens to be owned by that old man, who is also the main figure in the recent rumor incident.

If it weren't for Edward's sudden acquisition, causing the company to go bankrupt, she could have definitely dealt with Susanna and made her suffer.

But this company suddenly went bankrupt, and in the end, Susanna successfully cleared her name, with no impact on her.

Just the thought of it made Erica feel unsatisfied. She wanted to find out the reason, but the senior executives on Edward's side were good at keeping secrets, and no one told her the reason for this.

Austin knew the reason behind the acquisition, but he couldn't tell Susanna.

Austin replied directly, "I'm not sure either. I've never really cared about Edward's company affairs."

After Erica hung up the phone, a hint of darkness flashed in her eyes, but she quickly adjusted her expression, turning back towards Elaine, as said with a smile, "Edward had something urgent and had to leave. He's always busy, it is also a business trip this time. There was an emergency at the company, so he had to leave without waiting for me."

"I see, work is more important. Edward is really busy with work."

Erica deliberately smiled with a hint of helplessness, "Yes, Edward came to Lindwell to attend my engagement ceremony, but he still has to work. It's like taking some time out to attend my engagement!"

Although she said that, Erica still felt very uncomfortable deep down. She couldn't show weakness in front of Elaine; she didn't want her identity as the pampered young lady to be exposed.

In Lindwell, hardly anyone knew about her background in the Jones family.

That's why she wanted to stay in Lindwell and marry Aaron.

Elaine looked at her with envy. "Erica, although Edward is busy with work, he still treats you well. He never skimps on your pocket money. Unlike me, when my credit card is cut off, no one in my family dares to intercede with Aaron on behalf of me."

Elaine had always been concerned about her credit card being cut off.

Erica felt a bit awkward, brooding, 'Pocket money? These were all savings she had accumulated over the years, along with the money she earned from work.'

She wasn't like Elaine, spending money recklessly without a plan.

If she were truly the real heiress of the Jones family, she could live carefree like Elaine, without having to worry too much.

Susanna returned home with Edward and Aviana. Madison had already started bustling in the kitchen.

Aviana looked towards the kitchen and said, "It smells so good. What delicious food did Madison make?"

"Madison specially made Lindwell's signature dishes. You loved them last time, didn't you? She went to the market this morning to buy the freshest ingredients."

"That's great. I'll go to the kitchen and help."

After setting down the gifts, Aviana headed straight to the kitchen.

Susanna and Edward sat on the sofa in the living room. She offered some fruits to Edward, saying, "Edward, it must have been tiring to fly for so long. Have some fruits to replenish your vitamins."

Actually, Edward didn't really like these fruits. They were too sweet for him, and he usually took vitamin supplements instead.

But since Susanna brought them, Edward was willing to eat a few pieces of fruit. "Susanna, rest assured about the rumor incident last time. Daniel will definitely set himself to haunt down. The rumor spreader, Allison, has already received a lawsuit notice. Now that company is facing bankruptcy and soon those people will be homeless, burdened with huge debts. Everyone involved in this incident will have a hard time!"

Susanna, holding the fruit plate, looked at Edward in astonishment. "Edward."

"Susanna, if you have any dissatisfaction, feel free to speak up."

Edward looked at her expectantly. He had pushed aside all his work to handle this matter. After all, his sister had encountered such a malicious rumor incident, and as an elder brother, he had to step in.

Susanna took a bite of the fruit. "Edward, how do you know that those people will soon be homeless and burdened with huge debts?"

She could understand that Daniel, working at the law firm, issued a statement suing the rumor spreaders on her behalf. But when Edward mentioned the bankruptcy of that company in such detail, it seemed as if he was the one who acquired it.

Edward blinked, realizing he might have slipped up. But he quickly responded, "You know that the group acquiring this company is Silverpeak Innovations from Novaria. I work at this real estate company, so I'm quite familiar with the company's acquisitions. Plus, it's such a coincidence that it's the company owned by them, so I paid special attention to it."

"I see. But it does seem too coincidental."

Susanna couldn't help but wonder if something was being overlooked. After all, that company was owned by Erica's elder brother.

The individuals involved in the rumor incident were Elaine and Erica.

In theory, Erica wouldn't allow Edward to acquire that company because it would only bring trouble upon herself!

Edward felt a bit awkward and changed the subject. "Why hasn't Austin arrived yet? Is he working late today?"

"He didn't work overtime. I told Austin that you guys were coming today, and he promised to come back early."

Just as Susanna finished speaking, the doorbell rang outside.

"Maybe it's Austin back, but he forgot his keys again."

She walked over to open the door, only to be surprised by the unexpected person standing outside.
