Chapter 62 Because I'm Pregnant
Susanna looked at the approaching man. Their noses were touching. She froze, not knowing what Aaron intended to do.
The next second, Aaron slightly asked. "Do you feel a temperature difference?"
Susanna blinked, indeed feeling that his forehead was icy cold.
At that moment, a cough came from the side. "Please be mindful of others. This is a hospital."
Aaron quickly stood up. Susanna hurriedly pulled the blanket over her face. She felt so embarrassed.
The nurse spoke up. "The patient's family should wait outside. Please go register first."
Through a small gap in the blanket, Susanna saw Aaron vanish, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Susanna discreetly lifted the blanket and told the nurse, "Actually, I'm fine. I don't need treatment."
However, the nurse used a thermometer to measure her temperature. "Your temperature is 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Are you sure you're fine?"
Susanna didn't expect her temperature to be that high.
The nurse looked at the doctor who walked in. "Dr. Jones, there's a patient here with a high fever of 102 degrees Fahrenheit who refuses treatment."
"Do you want to go straight to the crematorium without receiving treatment for your high fever?" The doctor said annoyingly.
Susanna heard a familiar voice and instinctively pulled the blanket over her face, immediately feeling panicked. It was actually Austin Jones!
Susanna thought to herself, 'Aaron had actually brought her to this hospital! What was she going to do?'
Susanna felt awful. She didn't know how she would explain herself if Austin found out. Susanna felt helpless, thinking that she shouldn't have left the house!
Austin, wearing his work uniform, walked over and saw the patient with the blanket covering her, speaking sternly. "You can't keep doing this."
Susanna tightly held onto the blanket. She really didn't want to face this reality.
Austin glanced at the nurse and he said, "Pull the blanket away."
"No!" Susanna rejected. She subconsciously resisted the nurse and accidentally made a noise. She quickly covered her mouth, and the blanket was removed.
She innocently looked at Austin. "Austin."
Austin's facial expression changed abruptly, and he asked, "Susanna? What are you doing here? Are you sick?"
Austin quickly took a thermometer and measured her temperature. When he saw the number, his face changed. "Why didn't you tell me you're sick? Why are you trying to not get treatment? What's going on with you?"
Susanna gave up resisting. "I have my reasons."
"But that shouldn't delay your treatment. Hurry up and take the medicine, and get an IV to lower your temperature." Austin said.
"I can't." Susanna held onto Austin's arm, blushing as she spoke. "Austin, I can't take medicine, and I definitely can't get an IV."
"Why? Are you allergic to the medication?" Austin asked.
She shook her head and answered anxiously, "No. I'm pregnant."
The pen in Austin's hand trembled. He skeptically asked, "What did you just say? I didn't hear you clearly."
"Austin, you didn't mishear. I'm pregnant, so I can't simply take medicine or get an IV." Susanna repeated.
Austin got angry immediately, and he asked coldly, "Whose damn child is it?" Austin wanted to kill that asshole. That bastard actually got his sister pregnant. Austin's personality has always been stable, but now he has the urge to kill someone for the first time!
Aaron entered from outside, looking coldly at the nurse. "Why hasn't she started treatment yet? I already registered."
The nurse didn't say anything but looked at Austin.
Austin saw the man who suddenly appeared and felt a sense of familiarity. It was Aaron.
Austin glanced at this man and then at Susanna lying in the hospital bed, and he made a bold guess!
He thought, 'Could it be that Aaron is the father of the child? Why does Aaron always get involved with the Jones family's girls?'
Susanna didn't dare to look into Austin's eyes and whispered, "Then give me some medicine to bring down the fever. But there are certain medications that I can't take, so be careful."
Susanna discreetly reminded Austin that she was pregnant, urging him to be careful and not say anything wrong in front of Aaron.
Austin suppressed his confusion and turned to the nurse. "Put a hold on to the IV. Go and get the medicine."
Aaron frowned. "Aren't you giving her an IV?"
Austin said immodestly, "IVs are harmful to the body."
"But her body temperature is so high," Aaron retorted.
Austin looked at Aaron coldly. "Are you a doctor? How dare you question me?"
Hearing this, Susanna became worried and afraid that they would start fighting.
Aaron's face instantly turned colder, but he ultimately didn't say anything and just looked sullen.
Before long, the nurse came back with the medicine and looked at Austin. "Dr. Jones, Patient No. 35 needs you to come and check."
Only then did Austin adjust his expression and glance at Susanna. "You take your medicine first. I'll come back later."
Susanna obediently nodded. "Okay."
Sitting by the bedside, Susanna watched as Austin left the room, finally calming down. In fact, meeting Austin here was a good thing for her. At least Austin could help her conceal her pregnancy. If she had gone to the Abbott family's private hospital today, her pregnancy would definitely have been exposed. In that sense, she was lucky.
Susanna reached for the medicine next to her and saw the water dispenser on the other side. So, she tried to force herself to get up and get some water, but Aaron took the cup from her hand and walked towards the water dispenser. She watched Aaron’s back and remembered how he had brought her to the hospital. Aaron was somewhat humane, after all.
When Aaron turned around, Susanna lowered her eyelids and took the cup. "Thank you."
After finishing her medicine and lying down on the bed, Aaron was still standing by her side.
Susanna looked up at him. "Thank you for bringing me to the hospital. I'll go back by myself later."
Aaron sneered. "I don't have that much time to keep watch over you."
After saying that, Aaron left the emergency room, but he didn't immediately leave. He stood in the hallway, impatiently pulling at his tie.
Jimmy tentatively asked, "Mr. Abbott, should we leave now?"
"And what if? I am very busy." Aaron said.
Aaron took a few steps and then looked at Jimmy next to him. "Arrange a nurse for her. I wouldn't be able to explain to Grandma if she died."
Jimmy understood. After all, Aaron never wanted to show his tenderness.
Aaron had just reached the hospital entrance when Erica and Elaine happened to get out of a taxi.
Erica hurried over. "Aaron, how is Miss Miller?"
"She's doing fine." After saying that, Aaron left.
A hint of amusement flashed in Erica's eyes, thinking that Susanna's plan had failed.
Erica was about to leave when she turned around and saw a young man in work clothes flash by on the second-floor corridor. She felt a sense of familiarity with him. Erica's steps halted. It was Austin.
Erica thought to herself, 'Wasn't Austin in Novaria? How did he end up in a hospital in Lindwell?'
Without hesitation, Erica hurried towards the hospital. Elaine called out to her from behind. "Erica, where are you going?"
"I'm going to the restroom. Wait for me outside for a moment," Erica replied. After shaking off Elaine. Erica quickly took out her phone and called Austin.
