Chapter 368 Only a Fool Wouldn't Make Money
Susanna heard that and felt her heart skip a beat.
Aaron was totally her type—cool, serious, and his bossy vibe? Totally irresistible!
She smirked a bit. "Alright, since you asked so nicely, I gotta say yes."
But when she looked towards the hospital room, her smile faded. "I'll go alone. Lillian needs to rest here."
She could handle the Abbott family on her own; no need to drag Lillian into it.
"The test results will be out tomorrow night. She'll bounce back quick."
"Yeah, I think so too."
Susanna's face got all serious. This whole act was almost over.
Once Aaron's match was confirmed, they'd set up the bone marrow donation, and then she could take Lillian and bounce.
After Aaron left, Susanna's assistant came up to her. "Ms. Jones, Maud's birthday bash is at the Velvet Sky Ballroom."
Susanna raised an eyebrow. "Well, ain't that something. Maud's got good taste."
The Velvet Sky Ballroom was her baby, with Edward backing it. She designed everything in there. There were four spots in Novaria and just one in Lindwell.
She was planning to check out that place anyway, and now Maud's party was there.
The assistant asked, "What should we do? Cancel Maud's reservation?"
"No way, why turn down a big guest? Only an idiot says no to money. Jack up the prices by ten percent and tell her it's a special custom deal, just for her."
"Will she go for it? The party's tomorrow."
"Just get someone to call Maud. She'll bite."
Susanna knew Maud too well. She was all about showing off and would totally agree.
The Abbott family was loaded in Lindwell. If this party got noticed, it could be huge for the store.
As a businesswoman, she wasn't about to miss a money-making shot.
Plus, it was the enemy's cash; no way she'd let that slide.
After setting things up, Susanna checked her phone and saw Elaine bragging about all the fancy stuff she bought at the fashion show on social media.
But all that stuff Elaine had? Total knock-offs!
Susanna liked the post, her lips curling with a cold smile. Tomorrow was gonna be a blast.
The next day.
Early morning, Elaine hit her up, asking if she was going to Maud's party.
Susanna replied: [Yep, Aaron invited me yesterday.]
Elaine: [I knew it! Aaron's so into u; ofc he'd take u. C u 2nite!]
Elaine, all hyped, sent a voice message and went to pick out her outfit, only to see Vivian walk in with Ramond.
Things got a bit tense.
They had beef from the private show yesterday.
Vivian spoke first, "Elaine, were you just texting Ms. Ramirez? Is she coming tonight?"
"Yep. Aaron's bringing her to meet the fam. Looks like they're getting engaged soon. Some people might miss their shot."
Elaine mocked Vivian, getting back at her for the digs she took at the fashion show yesterday.
Vivian's face twisted, and she tried to play nice. "Elaine, I messed up yesterday. I shouldn't have talked to you like that."
"Save it. I'm not buying your fake apology. When Aaron and Ms. Ramirez tie the knot and have a legit kid, those with sketchy backgrounds will get the boot."
Vivian's expression turned icy. Just then, Maud came storming down the stairs. "Elaine, what crap are you spewing? Ramond's an Abbott too. He ain't going anywhere."
"Well, we don't know about that."
Elaine turned and headed upstairs, totally ignoring them.
Vivian brought tea to Maud. "Aunt Maud, don't get mad. Elaine's just like that."
"What does she have to be so smug about? The Abbott family already split the inheritance, and she and her mom are still hanging around the mansion. If it wasn't for Aaron's kindness, they'd have been kicked out ages ago."
Maud was still fuming from being embarrassed at the show yesterday. Elaine had made her look bad, and she was livid.
"Aunt Maud, I just heard Elaine saying Aaron invited Nova to the party. Should we reschedule the meeting with Ms. Sullivan?"
Maud snorted, "No need to reschedule. I'll put Nova in her place at the party."
A sly smile flashed in Vivian's eyes. She had said the opposite on purpose to rile Maud up.
Tomorrow, she hoped Penelope would stir up trouble, leading to a big mess.
Vivian pulled Ramond closer. "Come on, let's wish Grandma Abbott a happy birthday early. You might feel awkward at the party with so many people."
Maud smiled and patted Ramond's head. After having a servant take Ramond away, she said, "Vivian, you know the Sullivan family heir will be at the party tonight, so Ramond shouldn't be there. Got it?"
Even though everyone knew about Ramond, it was different to openly acknowledge it.
Vivian's face tightened, and she felt a wave of anger. Why couldn't Ramond be at the party?
In the end, she calmed down and said, "Okay, I get it."
"Don't worry. With me around, Ramond won't be mistreated."
Vivian lowered her head, pretending to be all humble, but her eyes were filled with darkness. She forced herself to endure. After all the effort to get to where she was today, she couldn't give up easily.
Evening, Velvet Sky Ballroom.
Susanna's car pulled up nearby, and she saw the business she had built with her own hands, feeling pretty proud.
If this event got noticed, she could start planning to open another branch later.
The car parked in the lot, which was already packed with luxury cars. After all, Maud was a big deal, and the guests were all rich and powerful.
Susanna, rocking a red evening gown and high heels, strutted towards the party venue, her bold and stunning look turning heads.
Vivian, standing at the entrance, saw Nova in her red evening gown, looking like a total star.
Vivian couldn't hide her jealousy, clenching her fists to keep calm. After all, tonight was a big deal for her too.
As Susanna reached the entrance, the guards stopped her.
"Ma'am, can we see your invitation?"
