Chapter 76 Almost Ruined Everything
Aaron and Austin locked eyes, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.
Aaron's thin lips tightened, not understanding why he was in the attending physician's office.
At this moment, Erica caught up. She was shocked to see Austin in the office. "Austin? What are you doing here?" She excitedly rushed in and said, "Austin, you finally agreed to perform the surgery, right?"
When Austin saw Erica, he frowned. He actually encountered her again! Suddenly, he felt awkward. Susanna was also in the hospital; it would be disastrous if they were seen together.
Austin calmly replied, "I came to understand the patient's condition."
"Austin, I knew you would agree," Erica said confidently and hugged Austin right away.
She was about to confess everything to Aaron. But she didn't expect Austin to come to the hospital secretly to inquire about Maria's condition. In fact, although Austin appeared to refuse, he actually agreed.
Tears filled Erica's eyes. She let go of Austin and turned to Aaron. "Aaron, you see. Austin is actually on my side. He will definitely agree to perform the surgery on Mrs. Maria."
Aaron stood still, a puzzled expression in his eyes. "Is he your brother?"
When Susanna passed out last time, he took her to a public hospital, and it was this man who treated her. It seemed like Susanna knew Austin, and their relationship seemed good.
The dismissed nurse had said that Austin had always been by Susanna's side, trying to please her.
Aaron felt a bit uncomfortable deep down, but he never expected it would be such a coincidence. Austin is Erica's brother!
Austin snorted. "What? Are you not happy about it?"
Aaron squinted his eyes slightly, looking displeased.
Seeing this, Erica quickly said, "Aaron, Austin always talks like this. Don't be angry."
Austin didn't even look at the annoying Aaron. He looked directly at Erica and said, "Tell him that in the future, if he marries you, he can't have affairs with other women."
Austin thought if he knew that Aaron had any intentions toward Susanna, he would definitely break Aaron's leg!
Erica smiled. She heard this and was overjoyed, meaning that her family didn't oppose it. Erica didn't sleep well last night. This morning, she found out that Aaron had come to the hospital to see Maria, so she came to tell him everything because she knew Aaron was getting suspicious.
But she never expected to meet Austin here!
Erica quickly said, "Austin, don't worry. Aaron is not that kind of person. Since you're here, how much do you know about the doctor's side? When are you planning to have the surgery?"
"Follow the original plan you guys made. We can only perform the surgery after Mrs. Maria's body recovers. During this period, I don't want anyone to make any casual judgments about her condition. Treat her according to the adjusted method I made." Austin replied professionally
After all, Austin came this time because he promised Susanna.
Only then did Aaron ask, "When did you start formulating the surgical plan?"
The surgical plan is the most important thing, but heart surgery is very complex, and unforeseen circumstances can occur at any time, so a contingency plan is also needed.
Austin spoke, "I will come again in a few days. By then, I will have formulated the surgical plan. This matter requires some time. It can't be rushed."
Erica nodded. "Austin, you're right. Anyway, the scheduled surgery is at the end of the month, so we still have time."
After Austin finished speaking, he glanced at the time. "I'm leaving."
Austin thought to himself, 'If Susanna comes back and finds us, that would be bad. How should I explain?'
"Austin, since you're here, let's all go out for a meal. Regardless of any misunderstandings between us in the past, we're going to be a family in the future. Misunderstandings can be resolved, right?" Erica suggested.
Austin refused coldly. "No need. I'm still very busy with work." Then he left the office quickly.
Erica chased after him a few steps. Looking at Austin's back, she returned to find Aaron. Then she said, "Aaron, I told you so. Austin is actually a sharp-tongued but kind person. Although he didn't agree on the surface, he actually secretly came over to find out about Mrs. Maria's situation. He'll definitely be able to come and operate on Maria at the end of the month."
Aaron glanced at Austin's notes left on the office desk, and he frowned.
The attending physician exclaimed with excitement, "Mr. Abbott, Austin truly lives up to being Novaria's top heart surgeon. He just proposed some plans that we hadn't thought of before. However, we cannot achieve those details. Only he can do it."
Erica chimed in proudly, "Of course. Austin is truly amazing. If he performs the surgery on Mrs. Maria, she will definitely recover quickly in the future."
Aaron looked at the attending physician and said, "Then follow Austin's instructions."
Aaron thought having the top doctor perform Maria's surgery was undoubtedly the best option.
Aaron and Erica walked out of the doctor's office together.
Erica was extremely excited. She stole a glance at Aaron, wondering if his acceptance of Austin performing the surgery meant that he had also accepted the marriage.
Erica's excitement grew even stronger as they prepared to take the elevator.
As the elevator doors opened, Susanna walked out from inside. She paused when she saw Erica and Aaron. After all, Susanna had taken a long time to wash the fruits and had returned without seeing them. She had thought they were in the ward, but they weren't there either.
After preparing the fruit for Maria, she planned to go downstairs and find Austin to ask about his understanding of the situation.
Although she had shared Maria's condition with Austin, it was different from him actually coming to the hospital to review the medical records. Susanna didn't expect to run into Aaron and Erica downstairs.
The three of them stood face to face, not saying a word to each other.
Erica smiled deliberately and asked, "Miss Miller, why did you come downstairs?"
