Chapter 157 Dealing with the Hypocritical Woman

Susanna glared at Erica, her voice cold and firm. "I've warned you once already not to mess with me. It appears you still haven't learned your lesson."

Moments ago, Erica had made a reckless attempt to hit Susanna with her car. If Susanna hadn't swiftly dodged, she would have been seriously injured.

Maybe Erica didn't intend to kill her, but Susanna was pregnant. How could she possibly withstand such an accident?

Susanna had felt a murderous intent to that vicious Erica just now!

Erica wanted to fight back, but Susanna had a firm grip on her hair. Even a slight movement made her scalp hurt terribly. "You're talking nonsense. I didn't hit you just now. You know what you did to my car. I'll make you pay for it later!"

"You know whether you hit me or not. There are surveillance cameras everywhere. Lying won't help. You can call the police; I don't care. But we will see who gets arrested," Susanna said.

She yanked Erica's hair harder and slapped her in the face. "If you dare to mess with me again, it won't end so easily next time!"

After saying that, she released Erica's hair and nonchalantly brushed off her hands. "If it weren't for Grandma Maria's surgery today, this wouldn't be over! Consider it my good deed for the day, doing something nice for Grandma Maria."

She didn't want to cause any trouble today because of Grandma Maria's surgery.

Erica held her scalp, which was almost numb from the pain. She had never suffered such a loss in her life and wouldn't let it go.

She gritted her teeth. "Susanna, do you think you can do whatever you want just because Grandma Maria backs you? Aunt Maud doesn't like you at all."

Erica hoped Maria would die on the operating table this time. Then, no one could stop her from marrying into the Abbott family.

As long as Maud was around, Susanna would never surpass her.

"I'm not a dollar bill; I don't need everyone to like me," Susanna replied.

Susanna's eyes held a steely determination, with a touch of intensity that sent a shiver down Erica's spine, making her realize she had underestimated the situation.

Susanna turned and walked into the hospital, not wanting to waste time with Erica.

Soon, Erica followed her, but Susanna ignored her.

Erica fixed her hair. After all, she was here to visit Maria and had to show up. As for her issues with Susanna, she would settle them after seeing Maud.

Both took the elevator upstairs, where two bodyguards in black stood outside.

One of the bodyguards stopped Erica. "Sorry, you can't go in."

Erica looked incredulously at Susanna, who had just walked in. "Why can she go in?"

Susanna was also a bit surprised that Erica was stopped.

The bodyguard said, "Only members of the Abbott family can go in. All other visitors are prohibited today. She is Mrs. Abbott, so she can go in."

Susanna glanced back at Erica with a mocking expression. "See, as long as I'm not divorced, you can't take my place. Keep waiting outside."

Erica stomped her foot in anger and immediately called Elaine to ask what was going on.

She had come to visit Grandma Maria out of goodwill. How could they not let her in?

Meanwhile, Susanna arrived outside the hospital room, where several bodyguards stood guard.

Seeing the bodyguards, she felt a tense atmosphere because today's surgery was really important.

She knocked and entered the room, smiling. "Grandma Maria, I'm here to see you."

"Susanna, you're here so early. Have you eaten?"

"Yes, Grandma Maria. How are you feeling today?"

Susanna noticed that Maria seemed in good spirits, which was a good sign.

Maria smiled and held Susanna's hand. "Good. You don't need to worry so much. I'm still waiting to see the babies in your belly born. I've been through so much in my younger days; this little problem can't defeat me."

Hearing Maria mention the baby, Susanna felt a bit guilty. Everyone thought it was a lie.

But only Susanna knew she was really pregnant.

She thought for a moment and placed Maria's hand on her slightly swollen belly. "Grandma Maria, the babies are waiting for you to get better."

Maria looked down at her belly, her eyes slightly red. "That's wonderful. When the babies are born, I want to teach them just like I taught Aaron when he was little."

"Okay, we're waiting for that."

Susanna sniffled and silently told the baby in her belly to wait for Maria to come out of surgery safely.

The next second, Maria looked towards the door. "Aaron, come over here. I have something to tell you both."

Susanna turned to see Aaron walking in. He was dressed casually, not in his usual dark suit, looking less stern and more noble.

Aaron stood by the bed. "Grandma, whatever you want to say, you can tell us after the surgery. We have plenty of time."

Susanna added, "Yes, Grandma, we're not in a hurry. Just relax now; we're all here with you."

At this moment, Maud and Elaine also walked into the room.

When Maud saw Susanna there, her was displeased, but she knew she had to endure it for Maria's surgery. Once the surgery was over and successful, she wouldn't have to concern herself with Susanna any longer. Aaron, now cautious of Susanna due to Maria's surgery, would also be relieved.

Maria waved her hand. "There are some things I want to say now, or I might not get the chance. Aaron, when Susanna's baby is born, he will be the future heir of the Abbott Group."

Susanna's expression shifted upon hearing this. "Why would Grandma make such a decision?"

She wasn't the only one affected. Maud also appeared hesitant. "Maria, isn't it premature to determine the heir so soon? The Abbott family is extensive and holds significant assets. What if the chosen heir proves to be incompetent or reckless?"

Maud hadn't finished. If Erica married in and had a child, wouldn't that child be unable to inherit the Abbott family? The Jones family wouldn't agree to that.

Susanna's baby was fake, and Maria was taking it too seriously.

"I believe Aaron's child won't be foolish. And with Aaron watching over him, how could he be?"

Maria handed a document to Aaron. "This is the contract I drafted. It states that Susanna's child will be the heir. You just need to sign it."
