Chapter 212 Feeling Pretty Good to Gloat

Susanna stared at the shredded documents, amazed at how fast Erica had torn through such a thick stack.

‘Guess she's really pissed,‘she thought.

In a few quick moves, Erica ripped up the papers and shot Susanna a furious glare. "Now you can't sign them," she snapped.

Without Susanna's signature, the documents were useless.

Susanna stayed quiet and turned to Aaron. "So, what now?"

She didn't have a solution, but in a way, Erica had solved her problem. The documents were now invalid.

Aaron noticed the smug look in Susanna's eyes, and his faint smile vanished. He spoke calmly, "I have another copy."

Erica started crying even louder.

Susanna had been ready to get angry, but seeing Erica's pitiful state, she teased, "Alright, Mr. Abbott, bring it next time. I'll print a new copy and sign it. Don't forget."

Erica panicked. "Susanna, seriously? Since when does getting a divorce mean you get everything? How can you leave Aaron with nothing?"

Susanna looked at Erica. "Well, he's feeling guilty, so he's willing to leave with nothing and give me all his assets. He's just worried I won't make ends meet after the divorce."

She finished, noticing the envy in Erica's eyes. "Erica, didn't you say you're into Aaron? Now that he's about to be broke, shouldn't that be perfect for you?"

Who wanted to marry a penniless man?

Erica had worked hard to shed her orphan status and become a Jones family socialite, aiming to marry into wealth and become Mrs. Abbott!

But she couldn't show her true feelings. "Of course I don't mind, but what right do you have to take so much money?"

"Because Aaron is willing. What's it to you?" Susanna turned and walked off.

Erica was flustered and turned to Aaron. "Are you seriously considering walking away with nothing and giving Susanna all your assets?"

She was incredulous!

How could any guy do that? Especially someone like Aaron, from a wealthy family. He could just give her some cash and be done with it; no need to hand over the shares!

Aaron's expression didn't change as he glanced at Erica. "That's my business."

"Aaron, don't get me wrong. I'm just looking out for you. If you give all the shares to Susanna, Abbott Group's stock will tank once the news gets out. Just give her some money and a house. Susanna, that orphan, could never spend all that money in her lifetime. No need to give her the shares, right?" Erica said.

Aaron didn't answer and walked off.

Now Erica was left standing alone, looking at the shredded pieces on the ground with a venomous expression.

Susanna set on grabbing Abbott Group's shares and all of Aaron's assets even after the divorce!

No way was Erica going to let Susanna get away with it.

After pulling herself together, Erica took out her phone and made a call. "Aunt Maud, sorry to bother you. Remember those beauty supplements I brought back from Novaria? I'll drop them off later."

Hanging up, Erica was determined to stop Susanna. With Maud's help, she could definitely thwart Susanna's plans.

Leaving the hall, Susanna felt pretty good. Erica's reaction had been priceless, and tearing up the divorce agreement had solved a big problem for her.

Ethan quickly approached. "Susanna, how did your talk with Mr. Abbott go? Any feedback on our hall's design?"

Susanna paused, then confidently replied, "He said everything was fine, no issues at all."

She hadn't asked, but Aaron wouldn't care about such minor details anyway.

Just then, Aaron's deep voice came from behind her. "When did I say that?"

Susanna froze and turned to see Aaron. Wasn't he supposed to be explaining things to Erica?

The atmosphere got awkward.

Ethan tried to smooth things over. "So, Mr. Abbott, any feedback?"

Aaron walked over, glanced at Susanna, and said, "I think Susanna has some opinions about me."

Susanna clenched her jaw and forced a smile. "Since Mr. Abbott didn't provide any feedback, I assumed you had no objections."

"If I don't speak up, can't you just ask?"

Seeing the teasing look in Aaron's eyes, Susanna knew he was doing this on purpose. She replied patiently, "Well, I'm asking now, aren't I?"

Aaron glanced around the hall and then at the stage. "There are some problems with the stage setup. That curtain over there seems unnecessary."

"It's part of the theme," Susanna retorted.

She had a gut feeling Aaron was being overly critical.  Walking over to the stage, she examined the curtain and thought it seemed perfectly fine.

Ethan felt stuck, not expecting such a disagreement.

The counselor discreetly gestured to Susanna to make a minor tweak to appease the investor.

Aaron walked over. "Why don't you try opening it and see the effect?"

Susanna frowned. "The stage effect is coordinated with that machine. Once it's opened, it can't be used again, and a new one costs ten thousand dollars."

Aaron inquired"I've invested so much money; what's another ten thousand?"

"You invested?"

Susanna knew the hall's equipment was sponsored by an outside company but didn't know it was Aaron.

Aaron said calmly, "Go ahead and open it. I'll cover the cost."

Alright, since someone was willing to pay, why not give it a try?

Actually, Susanna had only estimated the effect based on previous experiences and hadn't seen this design's stage effect.

Ethan was overjoyed and quickly had people coordinate the stage effect.

Soon, the music started, and as the curtain opened, Susanna saw her design come to life and felt a surge of excitement.

A few minutes later, the stage effect ended.

Susanna was silent for a moment before speaking, "Well, the curtain is a bit redundant. Let's remove it."

As Susanna arranged for the curtain to be taken down, she suddenly felt nauseous and turned to the trash can to start vomiting.
