Chapter 58 Do You Like Me?

Aaron put down his utensils and looked at her with steady and powerful eyes.

Susanna took a deep breath: "Why did you change the doctor for Grandma? It's obviously Erica's brother who is the best doctor in this field. Let him perform the operation for Grandma. It's the best choice."

The man's eyes dimmed and his throat moved slightly: "Who told you that?"
"When I went to the hospital to visit Grandma today, I met your mother."

Aaron leaned back, pursing his lips: "So what? Is this what you wanted to say?"

"Aaron, I think you should agree to Erica's brother's conditions. After all, it doesn't cause you any losses."

After Susanna finished speaking, the atmosphere in the restaurant became tense.

She looked at the man in front of her and suddenly felt that she couldn't understand him.

Aaron pretended to smile and said, "No losses? You want to divorce early and then throw yourself into the arms of another man. What's the point of finding such excuses?"

"Yes, you are right. This is the best choice for you, for me, and for Grandma."
"This is just your own idea."

With a squeak, the man pushed his chair away and stood up, and she looked over: "Then what is your idea?"

Aaron stood in place, and her voice came from behind him. He said expressionlessly, "It's none of your business."

"Aaron, you've been delaying the divorce. Could it be that you've fallen for me?"
The man's back stiffened for a moment, then he turned around, his tone full of arrogance: "Susanna, who gave you the courage to say this?"
"Isn't it true?"

Actually, Susanna was just randomly saying it, just wanting to provoke him into agreeing to a divorce.

He pursed his lips: "I've said it before, it's only for Grandma. Especially after being manipulated by marriage once, I won't be coerced a second time."

Susanna was taken aback, knowing that he was referring to her marriage to him.
She saw the indifference and disgust in his eyes, and suddenly realized how much he hated that marriage, which made her feel a little sad.

She lowered her eyelids: "We don't have to tell Grandma about the divorce, and I won't mention anything about you and Erica. Grandma won't know about this until after her surgery."

She has now realized that she will never entangle him again.

Aaron felt a touch of annoyance deep in his heart and frowned, saying, "Susanna, it's not up to you to decide when our marriage ends! Put away your scheming!"
The man finished speaking and left the restaurant.

In the end, Susanna sat in the chair, looking at the untouched food on the table. She picked up the utensils and started eating.

The food she usually enjoyed now tasted bland.
That night, Susanna slept alone in the master bedroom and couldn't sleep well.
But the man didn't come back all night.

The next day, Susanna received a call from Madison, asking her to come home for dinner.
She didn't have any classes in the afternoon, so she went straight home from the study room.
During dinner, Austin happened to be there.

After finishing her meal, Susanna thought for a moment and said, "Do you think the doctor is important for heart surgery? Is there a difference between the top doctor and the second-best doctor?"

"There is definitely a difference, but there is only one top doctor. If everyone were to seek him for surgery, he would be overwhelmed. The need for surgery depends on the situation, and most surgeries do not require a top doctor. It also depends on the patient's condition, so it's not absolute."

Austin noticed Susanna's unusual emotions and asked, "Susanna, what's wrong? Are you sick?"

"No, a friend's grandmother is sick and needs heart surgery. But the top doctor is too busy and can't come, so now they're debating whether to let another doctor perform the surgery."
"Susanna, are you sure it's heart surgery?"

Austin's eyes lit up suddenly. He was good at heart surgery and could be considered a top doctor.
Susanna nodded. "Yes, even though you're a veterinarian, you're still in the medical field. Do you know any senior students, friends, or classmates who know famous heart surgeons?"

"That's easy. I happen to know a heart surgeon, but he's from Novaria. But I can help you make an appointment."

As long as it was a friend of her sister who needed help, he could make time for the surgery.
Doing a surgery would relieve her sister's worries, so it was actually a good deal.
"Really? That's great."

A hint of joy appeared in Susanna's heart. If Aaron refused to be coerced into marriage, she could try the doctor recommended by her brother.

If she couldn't find a suitable doctor in Lindwell, there might be one in Novaria.
That night, Susanna stayed at home and didn't go anywhere.

She planned to talk to Aaron about this tomorrow.

In the middle of the night, she was awakened by a phone call. Aaron's voice came through the phone, sounding desolate. "Grandma has been taken to the emergency room. Where are you?"

"I'm coming right away."
Susanna hung up the phone, quietly changed her clothes, and immediately rushed to the hospital.

Throughout the journey, Susanna's hands trembled. Grandma Abbott was fine when she went to see her yesterday. How did she suddenly end up in the emergency room?
The taxi stopped outside the hospital, and Susanna ran all the way as if afraid of being late.
She saw Aaron standing outside the emergency room, his silhouette was as dark as the cold night sky at this moment.
She felt his sadness and walked over to wait with him.
But the wait was agonizingly long.
After a long while, Susanna finally spoke, "Aaron, I want to say..."
"Let's get a divorce tomorrow."

His voice was calm and cold, like the cool night breeze, blowing into the depths of her heart.
She looked at the flashing lights outside the operating room and nodded in response, "Okay."
Their marriage should have ended long ago.

It was a mistake from the beginning, and now the mistake needed to be corrected.
Aaron looked down and noticed that she was calm, as if she had quickly accepted the situation.
He couldn't help but ask, "What did you want to say just now?"
Susanna shook her head, "It's nothing."
She wanted to suggest trying doctors in Novaria, but it was meaningless to say it now. After all, Erica's brother was the top doctor, and it was the most suitable choice to let him perform the surgery.
She also didn't want anything to go wrong with her grandmother's health.
The man pressed his lips tightly and became increasingly annoyed at her calmness.
After a while, Grandma Abbott's condition finally stabilized.

The attending doctor came out of the operating room, "Luckily, it was discovered in time. As I said, heart surgery should be done as soon as possible, the sooner the better."
Aaron remained silent with a cold face.

Susanna forced a smile, "Thank you for your hard work, we will arrange the surgery as soon as possible."

As long as her grandmother could have a successful surgery, then there would be no problem.
Not long after, Grandma Abbott was directly taken to the intensive care unit for observation.
The two of them stood outside and watched the unconscious old woman, her gray hair particularly noticeable.

It was not until they saw that the elderly lady was safe and sound that Susanna breathed a sigh of relief. She felt a wave of exhaustion and sat down to rest.
She didn't feel tired while waiting for the results just now, but now exhaustion surged over her.

The next second, a steaming breakfast was handed to her. The hands were slender and beautiful.
She glanced at the sky outside. It was already dawn. Summer mornings were often bright very early.
She thought it hadn't been long, but it turned out that it was already morning.
Susanna reached out and took the breakfast, saying, "Thank you."

"After you finish eating, we can get ready to go to the government."
She lowered her eyelids and replied faintly, "Okay."

Susanna finished breakfast seriously, and the feeling of hypoglycemia gradually disappeared. She regained some energy.

The two of them left the hospital together.

She got into the car, and the man handed her a document. "Signed."
