Chapter 111 That's How Confident I Am
Susanna looked at Grace coldly and said, "Just because this house is registered under Aunt Madison's name!"
Grace was momentarily at a loss for words, instinctively turning for Allison's help. "Ms. Allison, you mentioned about inheritance last time, don't we have a share too? You are highly educated and cultured, explain to them."
Allison stood nearby, feeling a bit intimidated by the bodyguard Susanna had brought. It was clear that Susanna's plan to get more compensation had failed, especially since the company that was supposed to pay for government compensation had just gone bankrupt. However, the company was now acquired by a larger corporation, willing to provide compensation to her!
Allison said in jealousy, "That's right, this house entitles you, Grace and Andrew, to inherit."
Regardless, she couldn't let Susanna smoothly take the compensation and the house. Why should Susanna have everything while she had nothing?
Susanna retorted, "But my uncle is still alive. The medical expenses were paid by Madison's hard-earned money these years, and she often went to the hospital to take care of my uncle. The compensation from this house will be used to treat my uncle."
The neighbors around nodded in agreement. "This house originally belonged to Susanna's uncle. Her cousin shouldn't come to claim it."
"They have always been like this. Initially, they didn't want the house except the money. Her uncle took the house without asking for money. It doesn't make any sense that they claim a share since there was a compensation for the old house."
The neighbors shared stories from the past, exposing the truth.
Grace and Andrew exchanged a guilty look. They couldn't tolerate giving up the compensation they had almost secured.
Grace wailed, "You know nothing at all. Her uncle's medical treatment was funded by us, and he owes us a lot of money that he hasn't paid back. This compensation for the house should rightfully belong to us."
Andrew declared with great rage, "If anyone dares to stop us from getting the money, I'll fight them today! I'll head butt them to death right here, and no one will get the compensation."
They started causing a scene.
Allison, on the sidelines, stoked the public fear that no one would receive compensation today.
Edward glanced at the person in charge of compensation, who got it immediately and stated loudly. "If any of you have objections regarding the compensation, please discuss it in the nearby office and don't disturb others who are signing."
The rest of the neighbors chimed in, "Exactly, don't obstruct us."
Several young men in business suits approached from all sides and escorted Grace, Andrew, and even Allison away from the scene.
The group leader immediately announced, "Come on, continue lining up to sign. The compensation terms and amounts are even better than before. If you have any questions, feel free to inquire here."
No one wanted to be the first to sign, fearing they might lose out.
Madison was the first to step forward. "I'll sign and leave the information of my bank account."
Regardless of being the first to sign, as long as the money was in hand, it didn't matter. In case Susanna's foster parents wouldn't come out later and cause trouble to prevent her from signing.
Susanna didn't intervene; she stood by and checked Madison's bank account.
After signing, Madison held her hand and asked, "Susanna, is this enough? Grace and Andrew won't be able to change it when they come out, right?"
Susanna responded, "That's right, they can't change it. This corporation is a big company with strict rules."
"Good." Madison said in relief.
Susanna glanced back at her six brothers. "Let's go, we're heading back." If it weren't for her six brothers supporting her today, Grace and Andrew would have been even more arrogant.
Edward suddenly said to her, "Our company has a tradition that the first person to sign usually receives the best treatment. Besides the compensation money, there might be other compensations."
"Really?" Susanna questioned.
Susanna smiled. "It doesn't matter if there are extra compensations or not, as long as my foster parents can't get involved anymore."
She was still a bit worried, considering that this company belonged to Erica and Edward.
Elaine intentionally caused trouble last time. Would Erica, that bitch, do the same this time?
Edward looked at her. "If you have any concerns, let me know."
Susanna was still worried and asked, "Edward, do you think the new- involved company changed the recipient of the compensation or altered bank account information for any reason?"
"Susanna, why would you think so? It's impossible. Our company has strict rules and regulations. Rest assured, I'll keep an eye on this matter." Edward consoled.
Susanna fell silent for a moment. "Alright, thank you, Edward."
If that bitch Erica really did something behind the scenes, Susanna wouldn't let it slide.
Edward looked at her with a hint of doubt. Why was Susanna worried that Silverpeak Innovations might do something? He found her question somewhat unreasonable.
After she left, Susanna received a call from Dick. "Susanna, how did things go today?"
"It goes well, I've signed."
"Congratulations. Are you going to work overtime this afternoon? Do you want to have a look on your design site?"
"Sure, I'll be right over."
Susanna hung up and turned to her brothers. "I need to work overtime at the studio. I'll be back for dinner on time."
Madison smiled. "It's okay, I'll go buy groceries later. You all can go about your business and come back for dinner on time."
Edward, noting Madison's calm, had intended to propose dining out but held his tongue. Despite her softness, she was genuinely kind. They opted for a home-cooked meal instead.
At that moment, Austin spoke up, "Susanna, I'll drive you there. I need to go to the hospital anyway."
Susanna got into Austin's car.
As he drove, Austin asked, "Susanna, is there anything uncomfortable about your stomach?"
"No, Austin, Don't worry." Susanna replied.
"How can I not worry about you? There were so many people just now. Do you know what could have happened if I haven't arrived in time?"
Susanna stuck out her tongue. "I promise it won't happen again."
Austin sighed helplessly, "Where is your workplace for overtime? I'll take you there."
Susanna refused the ride. "No need, I'll just take a taxi. It's not on the way to the hospital, and it's a bit far."
"There is no rush as it is just a hospital rounds, "explained Austin.
Given the circumstances, Susanna entered the address of the wedding venue into the navigation system, arriving an hour later.
It seemed like a place specifically designed for lawn weddings, possessing the stunning scenery.
Austin looked around and felt a sense of familiarity. Where had he seen this place before?
He asked, "It might be hard to get a taxi here. How will you come back later?"
"I can take Dick's car back. There are so many people from the studio here; there must be a car."
Susanna got out of the car and saw a familiar figure not far away.
