Chapter 365 A Woman Who Doesn't Understand Fashion
Susanna smirked, "Ms. Nguyen, didn't you say you don't care about brands? It's just a dress, why are you so worked up?"
Vivian felt like her heart was getting ripped apart. The dress was borrowed, and now it was trashed. No way she could afford to replace it!
Vivian snapped, "You messed up the dress, so you gotta pay for it."
"And what about you splashing water on my clothes on purpose?"
Susanna didn't bother saying more, not wanting to waste time with Vivian. Even in Lindwell, Vivian better not try to mess with her. If she had no morals, then morals couldn't hold her back.
Susanna headed outside; the event was already over.
Elaine rushed over, all excited. "Nova, I scored the latest clothes and bags."
"That bag looks like it's for older ladies, though."
"You don't get it, I'm gonna resell it and make some cash."
Elaine realized she slipped up and quickly added, "I'll split the money with you."
"No need, it's a gift. Keep whatever you make from selling it."
Elaine linked arms with her. "Nova, you're too sweet. Aaron's so lucky to have you!"
Susanna's face got a bit stiff as she pulled her hand away. "As long as you're happy, it's just pocket change."
Once this was all over, she wouldn't have to fake it with Elaine anymore.
"Ms. Ramirez, you ruined my dress and think you can just walk away?"
Susanna turned to see Vivian coming out with the dirty dress. People around them stepped back, not wanting their clothes to get dirty too.
Vivian looked a mess, but she needed compensation from Nova, or she'd be in big trouble when she got back!
Susanna looked Vivian up and down, surprised she actually had the guts to come out.
Elaine stepped up first. "Vivian, what does dirtying your dress have to do with Nova? You borrowed a dress you can't afford to replace and now want someone else to pay for it?"
"Elaine, I'm not making this up. Ask her if she kicked over the cleaning bucket in the restroom on purpose and dirtied my dress."
Susanna nodded. "Yep, I did it on purpose. But only because you first splashed water from washing your hands onto my clothes."
Vivian was stunned by Susanna's bluntness. "That was an accident, and the water was clean, way cleaner than the water in the cleaning bucket."
"Sorry, I'm a germaphobe. To me, both are equally gross."
"You're talking nonsense. Everyone heard you admit to dirtying my dress. I don't need an apology, just compensation."
Vivian stood there, determined. If she didn't get compensation today, she'd be in big trouble. At this point, she didn't care about her pride anymore.
Elaine sneered, "Vivian, are you that obsessed with money? No one here would make a fuss over such a small thing. It's embarrassing."
Vivian bit her lip. "To you rich folks, it might not matter, but to someone like me, it's a big deal."
"If you can't afford to wear the dress, then don't wear it! You want to flaunt luxury goods but can't handle the consequences. What's the point?"
Elaine's words hit Vivian hard.
Vivian was at a loss for words and looked up to see Maud. Her eyes lit up like she found a lifeline. "Aunt Maud."
Maud had planned to slip away but got called out by Vivian.
Maud reluctantly stepped forward. "Vivian, it's just a dress. No need to be so tight about it."
Everyone here today was loaded.
Usually, there'd be small squabbles, but no one ever demanded compensation for clothes. It seemed kinda petty.
Hearing Maud's words, Vivian finally noticed the looks on everyone's faces around her. Her expression changed instantly, showing a vulnerable and helpless look.
A nearby gentleman couldn't stand it and said, "This pretty lady is about to cry. It's just a small amount of money, just give it to her."
Susanna then spoke softly, "Ms. Nguyen, it's not impossible to get compensation."
"Nova, you don't need to bother with Vivian."
Susanna looked at Vivian and said, "But you also messed up my clothes. I'll pay for your dress, but you gotta pay for my clothes. Fair enough?"
Vivian replied, "Sure."
After all, Nova was just wearing a simple white T-shirt and jeans, which didn't look pricey. No matter how expensive, it couldn't be more than her dress, right?
So this deal wasn't a loss.
Susanna looked at the event manager nearby and asked, "How much is Ms. Nguyen's dress?"
The manager replied, "Three hundred and eighty thousand dollars."
"OK, but my outfit is also from DivineDynasty. Manager, can you estimate the price?"
The manager looked carefully at Susanna's clothes and said in shock, "Is this the limited edition series designed for DivineDynasty's tenth anniversary?"
Elaine was floored when she heard this. She looked at Susanna in disbelief and exclaimed, "Wasn't this outfit supposed to be in a collection? Nova, you actually wore it out."
This classic outfit looked ordinary but had an extraordinary origin.
Everyone around was stunned, looking at Susanna. They didn't expect this outfit to be from that series.
The manager's tone became more respectful. "Ms. Ramirez, this outfit is so valuable that I can't estimate its price right now."
Elaine quickly said, "I remember there was an auction last month, and this outfit sold for a million dollars."
Vivian was floored when she heard the million-dollar figure. "This simple outfit costs a million dollars? Isn't it just a regular cotton T-shirt and jeans?"
People around instantly laughed. "How did this woman who doesn't understand fashion get in here?"
"She doesn't even know the classic designs of DivineDynasty and came to this private show?"
Maud's expression also turned sour when she heard this. She didn't expect Vivian to be so embarrassing!
Susanna looked at Vivian with a half-smile. "Indeed, to me, it's just a regular T-shirt and jeans. So when you splashed water on my clothes, I didn't make a big deal out of it. But it was you who insisted on compensation, so I couldn't refuse."
Vivian felt terrible after hearing this.
Now, she had to compensate Susanna six hundred and twenty thousand dollars?
