Chapter 527 Mess with the Small Fry, Here Comes the Big One

Charles was glued to his computer screen, his fingers flying over the keyboard like he was born to do this.

He bit his lip, eyes locked on the changing numbers, more focused than ever.

He'd always been the smart kid, a bit of a legend in the hacker world, rarely meeting anyone who could keep up.

But this time was different. Even though he couldn't stand Aaron, he had to admit the guy had skills.

No wonder Aaron had managed to rally so many people back then, taking down terrorists and all that.

Charles shook his head, snapping back to the present. Why was he thinking about Aaron's past again?

When Susanna slipped into the room, she saw Charles hunched over his computer, totally absorbed in it.

Not wanting to disrupt his focus, she quietly settled onto the small sofa.Charles had always been cooped up in the research institute, unlike other kids who could run around and play.

He had to stay in a controlled environment; any hint of danger and he wouldn't get help in time.

Back in the day, his room was under 24-hour surveillance with servants always around; he was never alone.

Thankfully, after years of treatment, he could finally go to school like a regular kid.

Susanna glanced at Charles's screen and realized he was getting his butt kicked. His opponent seemed pretty skilled.

She knew how good Charles was; it was rare for him to find a worthy adversary.

Especially getting beaten like this—it almost never happened.

Susanna felt a bit anxious but kept quiet.

Charles knew he was in trouble. One of his teammates chimed in, "You're about to lose. Need a hand?"

Another one added, "Yeah, seriously. If we all jump in, can we really lose?"

Charles replied firmly, "No, I got this."

On the other side, Aaron watched his screen and opened his mic. "For your age, you're pretty impressive. Better than I was back then."

Charles didn't take it as a compliment. His goal was to beat Aaron.

He snapped, "Shut up. I can beat you. I'm not done yet."

At that moment, Charles froze. He had been so agitated that he forgot to type and resorted to using voice chat instead.

Aaron, hearing the young voice, was surprised. He took off his headset and called over to Sam, "Come here."

"What's up? Aren't you about to beat this kid?"

"That's not the point. You said it was twin sisters."

Sam nodded. "Yeah, so?"

Aaron frowned. "But that voice was a young boy."

Sam's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Would I lie to you?"

"So Susanna had boy-girl twins. Man, I'm kinda jealous."

Aaron kicked Sam. "Get lost. Go find your own woman."

But staring at the screen, Aaron felt a bit uneasy. No wonder it was so tough; it was a boy.

He thought Lillian was the sweet and understanding one, but the other twin was cold and tough as nails.

Aaron clicked his mic on, "You're pretty defiant. Never lost before, huh?"

Charles snorted, "Nope."

"Well, today's your lucky day. Time for a lesson."

Aaron's fingers flew over the keys, and in no time, the defenses Charles had painstakingly built crumbled.

Charles was caught off guard, not expecting to lose so fast.

He opened his mic. "Were you holding back earlier? Didn't I tell you to go all out?"

Aaron replied casually, "If I hadn't held back, this would've been over ages ago."

He had assumed the person on the other end was a girl who looked like Lillian, so he had been patient and played along.

But now that he knew it was a boy, things were different.

Aaron believed boys needed to learn lessons and experience failure to grow into strong men.

This kid was so arrogant, clearly spoiled by the Jones Family.

Charles was fuming. "I haven't lost yet. Don't get cocky."

"Losing isn't the end of the world. If you get too hung up on winning and losing, you'll never improve."

Aaron lectured Charles, a smug smile on his face. After all, his son was so talented; how could he not be proud?

Sam, watching from the side, rolled his eyes. "Look at you, grinning like a fool. You're happy but still lecturing the kid. How are you any different from other parents? Kids need encouragement."

Aaron ignored him, eyes glued to the screen.

He attacked while saying, "You said you've never lost, so you've never found your weaknesses?"

Charles shot back, "I don't need you to tell me."

Susanna heard the frustration in Charles's voice and hurried over. "Charles, what's wrong? Who's giving you a hard time?"

Charles was startled by her voice.

He quickly said, "Just someone I'm sparring with. Didn't expect them to be this good."

"Let me handle it." Susanna immediately sat at the other computer and started typing away.

Charles hesitated, "Mom, isn't this unfair? It's supposed to be a one-on-one match."

Susanna replied, "Charles, don't be naive. How do you know the other side isn't using backup? Sometimes, you have to adapt. Use the right methods against the right people."

Charles thought of Aaron on the other side and agreed. Against him, there was no need to play fair.

Soon, Aaron noticed the other side launching a fierce attack.

Aaron squinted, "Did they get a backup?"

Sam leaned over. "It's common for adults to step in to help kids win games. Take it easy. He's got support."

"He's spoiled. If he's too arrogant, he'll suffer later."

Aaron disagreed and immediately started counterattacking.

With an extra person on the other side, it was a bit challenging for him to handle.

Charles took the headset and opened the mic. "How about it? Ready to admit defeat?"

Aaron opened his mic. "Two against one, and I'm still holding my own, right?"

Seeing Charles's expression, Susanna grabbed the headset and opened the mic. "Stop bullying a kid. Come at me if you dare."
