Chapter 291 Now I Am Indeed Richer Than You

Susanna was giving Elaine the cold shoulder, big time.

Elaine just stood there, feeling like a total outsider, watching Susanna and her crew strut off, flanked by two drop-dead gorgeous dudes.

Elaine's friends were all like, "Elaine, I'm so jelly that Susanna's got those hot brothers watching her back. I'd be thrilled with just one, but she's got six!"

"Shut up!" Elaine snapped, stomping her foot in frustration. She couldn't believe Susanna was treating her like she was invisible.

What made Susanna think she was all that? Just 'cause she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, she acted like she owned the place. Elaine was also an Abbott, so what gave Susanna the right to be so snooty?

If it weren't for her crush on the Jones brothers, she wouldn't even bother with Susanna!

Feeling totally embarrassed and pissed off, Elaine decided to hit up the DivineDynasty store for a makeover.

As Susanna walked in, the store manager was all over her. "Miss, right this way, please."

Susanna didn't want Aviana tagging along into the fitting room. With her belly starting to show, she didn't want to risk Aviana noticing.

She planned to spill the beans about her pregnancy to Edward and the others once she got back to Novaria.

With the Abbott family dinner on the agenda for tonight, it was best to keep the baby news under wraps for now.

Susanna picked a gown that cleverly hid her growing belly. The high waistline and full skirt did the trick. Checking herself out in the mirror, she nodded. "This is the one," she whispered to herself.

Just as Susanna was about to bounce with her dress, she spotted Elaine coming out of the fitting room next door. Susanna's face stayed cool, and she didn't bother saying hi.

Elaine stepped right in front of her. "Susanna, do you know why someone as workaholic as Aaron would book an appointment at DivineDynasty for makeup and styling?"

Susanna suddenly remembered seeing Aaron with some chick at a restaurant a few days ago.

A thought crossed her mind—could it be because of that woman?

"Susanna, do you remember asking me about the woman in Aaron's computer photo?" Elaine pressed on.

Susanna had a pretty good idea who it was, but she couldn't figure out why Elaine had played dumb earlier.

Keeping her cool, Susanna replied, "Did that really happen? I don't remember."

"Susanna, you're totally faking it, aren't you? You obviously care about the answer!" Elaine's face lit up with a smug grin.

As she eyed Susanna's exclusive haute couture gown and the bling from DivineDynasty's private collection, jealousy bubbled up inside her.

Why was it that as an Abbott heir, she didn't get the same royal treatment? Now, Susanna seemed to be getting even more special treatment than her!

Susanna sneered, looking down at Elaine. "Why would you think I care about the answer? Aaron and I are divorced. And honestly, I've got everything I want right now. So, why should I bother with stuff that doesn't matter?" With that, Susanna gracefully lifted her dress and strutted away with her head held high.

Behind her came Elaine's exasperated voice. "Susanna, she's Vivian Nguyen, the woman Aaron's all about. That's why he set up her makeup and styling, and he's planning to bring her to the Abbott family gathering to show her off."

Susanna paused for a sec, then turned to the assistant. "Show me the priciest bracelet you got in the store."

The assistant's eyes lit up. "Of course, we also have the latest limited edition jewelry. There's only one set in Lindwell."

"Sure thing."

After that, Susanna shot a glance back at Elaine. "I see you don't have any nice bling. Should I ask them to lend you a set?"

Elaine's face turned red with anger. "Susanna, I'm an Abbott heir. I have everything I need and don't need to borrow anything from you!"

"Really? But I remember your credit card got cut off. You're just an heir living off the Abbott family, with a limited monthly allowance. Can you even afford this jewelry?" Susanna taunted, hitting Elaine right where it hurt.

After three years of knowing her, Susanna knew exactly what buttons to push. Predictably, Elaine blew up.

Watching Elaine's reaction, Susanna felt a twisted sense of satisfaction. With a smug look on her face, she walked out of the fitting room.

Elaine, seething with rage, remembered all the times she mocked Susanna's financial status. Now, with Susanna's sharp comeback, the bitterness was almost unbearable.

A sudden idea hit Elaine, and she quickly dialed Aaron's number, but it went straight to voicemail. She then texted him: [Aaron, Vivian likes the latest jewelry from DivineDynasty, but they say it's not for sale.]

After sending the message, Elaine felt a bit better. If she couldn't have it, she wasn't about to let Susanna have it either.

Meanwhile, Susanna walked outside, feeling pretty good.

Brian was the first to stand up and said, "Susanna, you look stunning in that dress, like a noble princess."

Justin clapped and added, "Susanna is beautiful and the princess of the Jones family, so she looks good in anything."

Aviana chimed in with a smile, "That's right, Susanna looks good in anything. But Susanna, why didn't you pick the champagne-colored gown? Your back is so beautiful; it would have taken everyone's breath away."

Susanna's smile wavered. That dress was super tight and would definitely show her belly.

She had to come up with an excuse. "I've put on a bit of weight from all the exam stress lately, my waist has thickened up a bit, so I went with this dress instead."

Brian raised an eyebrow and said, "Just put it on. Who dares to call you fat?"

Justin nodded. "That's right, Susanna. You're not fat at all; you're still too thin."

Susanna was a bit puzzled.

In the end, Susanna stuck with the dress she had chosen, and luckily, her brothers didn't push it. As long as she liked it, that was enough.

After picking her dress, Susanna went next door for beauty treatments, followed by makeup and styling.

When it was time to choose jewelry, the store manager came running over, looking nervous. "I'm sorry, the latest set of jewelry in our store has just been reserved."
