Maud was livid. As an Abbott, she was always respected in Lindwell. She'd never been humiliated like this!
If Maria hadn't said the super membership card was too much, Maud would have had one too and wouldn't be dealing with Susanna's nonsense today!
Elaine, just as mad, said, "Maud, get Aaron to handle this. The Abbott family owns this mall, and a small store dares to kick you out? That's ridiculous. Have Aaron shut it down and kick Susanna out too!"
Elaine couldn't stand Susanna's arrogance anymore, and Maud felt the same. Susanna, who had been kicked out by the Abbott family, had the nerve to act like this!
When Aaron answered Maud's call, he had just finished a meeting. "Hey, Mom."
"Aaron, you have to help me!" Maud's voice was tearful, like she'd been bullied.
Aaron sounded indifferent. "In Lindwell, who'd dare mess with you?"
Everyone in Lindwell knew Maud's reputation and she was always well-protected.
"Who else but Susanna?"
Hearing Susanna's name, Aaron perked up. "Where did you see Susanna?"
"At Stellar Shopping Plaza. Aaron, you're a major shareholder there. Call the manager and shut that store down. It shouldn't be in the mall," Maud demanded.
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Susanna, with her super membership, had the staff kick Elaine and me out! As the president's mother, I've never been kicked out by anyone. Aaron, Susanna is too arrogant. You need to teach her a lesson!"
Aaron frowned. "She has a super membership? That's not easy to get."
Given Susanna's current status, she couldn't have a super membership. Did Austin give it to her?
Maud said indignantly, "But there was a woman with Susanna who claimed to be her sister and gave her the card. But isn't Susanna an orphan? How does she have wealthy family now?"
"Her sister?" Aaron was puzzled. Had Susanna found her family? Why hadn't he heard anything? And Susanna hadn't mentioned it!
He thought for a moment. "Mom, do you know anything else?"
"That's all I know. Susanna's sister acts like a shrew and doesn't seem like someone who'd own that card. Maybe it's stolen from a wealthy family she works for!"
Elaine whispered, "But the name and phone number on the card wouldn't be wrong."
The membership card must be bound to the owner. If it were stolen, it wouldn't have the owner's phone number.
Maud glared at Elaine and then angrily said, "Aaron, just call the manager and kick Susanna out!"
Aaron was genuinely surprised to learn Susanna had found her family, and a wealthy one at that. According to Elaine, Susanna's sister gave her the super membership card, meaning her family had serious resources.
No wonder Susanna seemed so confident now. She'd found her family—why keep that a secret? If Maria knew, she’d be thrilled too. Aaron felt left out, like he'd been kept in the dark.
"Aaron, are you listening? I told you to kick Susanna out of the mall!" Maud pressed.
Aaron rubbed his temples. "Mom, everyone knows the rules about those membership cards. Did you ever consider lower-tier members when you cleared the area before??"
Maud was taken aback. "Aaron, that's different."
"How's it different?" Aaron asked calmly. "The Abbott Group mall has rules. If we start making exceptions, who’s going to want to shop here? If word gets out that we kicked out a customer, do you know how much bad press that’ll bring?"
"But this is Susanna. Does she count as a customer?"
Aaron's tone was serious. "She has a super membership card. She’s today's VIP, and all privileges apply to her."
Maud was furious and raised her voice. "Aaron! Susanna dared to bully me, and you still treat her as a VIP because of the rules!"
"Mom, you just want revenge because you were kicked out for not being a super member. But as the president of the Abbott Group, I can't break the rules. If I do, who will cooperate with us in the future?" Aaron explained.
"But you're my son. Is it so hard to teach her a lesson for me?"
Aaron stayed calm. "I can help you teach her a lesson, but you’ll have to explain the impact to the board yourself."
Maud hung up angrily.
Elaine asked tentatively, "So, did Aaron agree?"
"No! I think he's been charmed by Susanna!"
Maud was furious but didn't dare push Aaron further. She couldn't face the board members! She stomped her foot and snapped, "Let's go."
Elaine had to leave too. She also wanted a super membership card. Wouldn't it be great to choose from the latest and limited editions?
On the other end, Aaron stared at his phone, thinking about what Maud had said. He opened Susanna's WhatsApp and saw her status: "New clothes for graduation."
She was wearing new clothes in a selfie, her round face looking adorable under the light, even the tiny hairs on her profile visible.
Aaron looked at the photo for a while, then finally opened the chat and started typing.
At the mall, Susanna sat on the sofa, holding the super membership card. "Aviana, what's the deal with this membership card?"
She had thought it was just an ordinary card! But from what Elaine had said, this card was special. It could even clear out the store, and Maud had been kicked out on the spot!
