Chapter 324 I'm Taking Your Stuff
Sam suddenly felt like he was totally out of whack.
The main problem? He had zilch to do with Susanna and Lillian. Just by watching, it was obvious they had some sort of link with Aaron. So why was he always the one getting the short end of the stick?
Susanna, chilling on the second floor, saw Sam's bummed-out face and felt a whole lot better.
Lillian, standing on her tippy-toes with her big blue eyes, caught the moment Susanna gave Sam a piece of her mind.
In her sweet, kiddie voice, Lillian cheered, "Mommy, nice job! Keep it up!"
"He's not that dumb; he won't fall for it again," Susanna muttered, not expecting to fool Sam twice.
Sam was super down during the rest of the auction, couldn't care less about anything.
Vivian noticed Susanna splurging millions on stuff, while she couldn't even afford something worth a million, and felt crazy jealous.
Turning to Sam, she said, "Sam, why don't you go explain things to the lady upstairs? It's not cool for her to single you out like this."
"You think I haven't tried? But she has to believe me!"
"Why does she think you're the kid's dad?" Vivian was totally puzzled.
Sam sighed, "I have no clue. I'll ask her straight up after the auction."
He couldn't let this misunderstanding drag on! If Lillian was really his kid, he wouldn't dodge his responsibility!
As the main auction wrapped up, the extra session kicked off. Aaron finally got his act together, determined to snag the special medicine this time.
On the second floor, Susanna glanced at the extra auction items, her eyes landing on the special medicine, murmuring, "So that's why there's a crowd for the extra session."
Usually, these extra auctions were hush-hush, with the occasional risk of fake items slipping through, leaving the auction house off the hook. So, the turnout for these auctions was usually pretty low.
Susanna looked at Aaron and Sam on the first floor, who hadn't left yet. Were they also here for the special medicine?
Lillian stood on a little stool, peeking at the first floor. "Mommy, Uncle Aaron hasn't left yet."
"Lillian, the auction's almost over. If you don't buy something, this number plate will be useless," said Susanna.
Even if it was just buying something random, even if it was a fake, Connor had to pay the price.
"But I haven't seen anything I like!"
Susanna said, "Then buy the priciest one."
Soon, the auction downstairs kicked off. There weren't many bidders for the first few items, but when the special medicine showed up, everyone zeroed in.
The host announced, "This is a rare special medicine, starting at ten million dollars."
"Eleven million dollars."
"Fifteen million dollars."
"Twenty million dollars."
The price shot up fast, hitting fifty million dollars.
At this point, Aaron raised his number plate, offering, "One hundred million dollars."
When the price was announced, it sent shockwaves through the room. One hundred million dollars, double the initial bid of fifty million dollars. The sheer size of the figure left everyone buzzing with excitement and disbelief.
Susanna saw Aaron bidding one hundred million dollars and got interested. "So he really is here for the special medicine."
"Mommy, does Uncle Aaron have someone sick at home?" Lillian asked.
Susanna nodded thoughtfully. "Not entirely sure, but it's quite possible," she responded. After all, most people buying special medicine usually did it for health reasons.
Lillian suddenly felt a bit uneasy. "Mommy, this seems like the priciest one. Should I go up against Uncle Aaron?"
Susanna shot her a sly look. "Lillian, you wanna know how to make him remember you forever?"
Lillian shook her head, all innocent-like.
Susanna's red lips curled into a smirk. "Snatch something he really wants, and he'll never forget you!"
"But..."
"No buts. You can always give the special medicine back to him. He'll save a hundred million bucks, isn't that sweet?"
Lillian thought it made sense and quickly raised her number plate, trying to catch the host's eye.
At that moment, the host saw the special number plate and immediately announced, "Congrats to the guest on the second floor for winning the special medicine."
The whole room went nuts!
Sam jumped up, his face twisted with anger. "What's going on here? Aren't we supposed to have three rounds of bidding? This feels rushed; it's just not fair!"
Others chimed in, "Yeah, it's not fair."
Aaron looked up at the second floor, locking eyes with Susanna. She propped her chin up, a smug smile playing on her red lips.
Aaron's face darkened, but his eyes were thoughtful, trying to figure out her game.
Vivian stood up too and said, "Can the lady on the second floor even afford a hundred million dollars?"
She didn't believe Susanna was that loaded! A hundred million bucks was no joke!
The host immediately showed a mocking expression. "Miss, the guest on the second floor is a super VIP of Radiant Valley. She can definitely afford a hundred million dollars."
Vivian noticed the host's sarcastic smirk, forced a smile, and sank back into her seat, her grip on her skirt tightening. A wave of embarrassment washed over her. Her jealousy surged uncontrollably. Could Nova really be that rich?
When she lowered her head, a glint of light flashed in her eyes. Luckily, the special medicine was taken by someone else!
If that special medicine really cured Maria and she woke up, what she had done would be exposed.
With Sam's protest being dismissed, he turned to Aaron. "What now?"
Everything seemed to be going smoothly, but suddenly Lillian intervened! This was really their unlucky day.
Aaron said in a deep voice, "We'll think of another way."
"Aaron, she is probably targeting me. I'll go explain to her later. No matter what it takes, I'll help you get the special medicine back!"
Sam had a hunch it was connected to him; why else would Nova suddenly stir up trouble?
In today's auction, Susanna hadn't bid on anything except when Sam was bidding and when Aaron was bidding for the special medicine. It was clear she was deliberately targeting them.
Aaron stood up and said, "Let's go."
Since the special medicine was taken by Susanna, there was no need to stay here.
"Let's go find them," Sam suggested, his voice urgent.
Aaron thought the same. Even if they had taken the special medicine, there was still a chance to get it back.
Vivian watched their backs, gritted her teeth, and followed. She wanted to see what Susanna was up to.
But when Aaron and Sam reached the second floor, the room was already empty.
Sam was a bit annoyed. "Damn it! They actually slipped away. They knew we were coming."
Aaron stood there, looking towards the first floor, his eyes deep and unreadable.
Soon, the sound of high heels came from the side. Susanna, holding Lillian's hand, walked over from the end of the corridor, raising an eyebrow with a mischievous grin. "What a coincidence," she said playfully.
