Chapter 503 Does She Deserve to Show Off in Front of You?
"Chill, I ain't letting Vivian off the hook. If she's gotta serve time, she should be back in Lindwell, not wandering around Philly like she's on vacation."
Amelia said her piece, then bounced, leaving Susanna solo on the couch.
Susanna eyed the latest handbag and told the store manager, "Wrap it up and send it to the Richardsons."
Amelia should've snagged this bag 'cause if Vivian saw it, she'd be fuming.
She was curious what Vivian would do if Amelia convinced her fam to accept Ramond but not her.
Vivian was all carefree now 'cause she promised to bring Ramond into the Richardson Family, scoring herself some sweet perks.
If the Richardson Family just took Ramond in, Vivian would be useless.
Owen just wanted a little dude to be his heir, and if the Richardson Family took Ramond, that'd be perfect for Owen.
In Philly, Owen could snatch a kid easy.
Right now, Susanna felt kinda bad for Ramond.
Since he was born, his mom Vivian's been using him as a pawn to get what she wants. First, she hit up the Abbott family, and now that they're a bust, she's turned to Owen.
After leaving the mall, Susanna's secretary came up and said, "Mr. Edward's secretary is handling the Betsy incident at the research institute. Ms. Jones, wanna hit up Mr. Edward to figure out what to do? Betsy's from Emerald Island, and her status is kinda touchy."
"I know, I'll head home tonight."
Susanna knew there'd be drama after clashing with the Emerald Island folks, and Edward would definitely get involved.
But she wasn't sweating it. The Emerald Island crew was so full of themselves. No way she'd let Betsy mess up the research institute and throw off the staff.
Charles still needed the institute for his treatment.
When Susanna got home, she saw Lillian doing crafts in the living room. She walked over, surprised, "Lillian, whatcha up to?"
"Charles is starting school with me next month. I'm making some handmade gifts for him to give to the teachers and classmates so he can make friends."
Lillian grinned, totally into her crafts for the first time.
Susanna ruffled Lillian's hair, "With you helping Charles, he'll definitely make friends in kindergarten. Knowing you're looking out for him, I can chill."
"Of course, Mommy, don't worry. I'll take good care of Charles."
Aviana laughed, "Since Lillian found out Charles is starting school, she's been all about making these gifts. She hasn't gone out to play all afternoon, just working hard in the living room without asking for help."
Lillian had been spoiled by the family since she was little, and even the servants adored her.
So, from a young age, Lillian always had help with whatever she did. Even when her crafts were wonky, the servants would secretly fix them.
But this time, Lillian was making the handmade gifts all by herself without asking for help.
Susanna looked at Lillian with a sigh of relief, remembering how Charles agreed to go to kindergarten just to keep Lillian happy. She'd been bragging about having an older brother for ages.
Edward rolled in right on time for dinner that night.
Aviana glanced at him and said, "Wow, it's a miracle you're home for dinner with how swamped you've been."
Edward shrugged off his coat and took Aviana's hand. "Come on, if you didn't want me here, you wouldn't have texted me saying Susanna was coming home for dinner too."
He turned to Susanna, "Hey Susanna, can we chat for a sec? Got something to run by you."
Susanna knew Edward would want to talk, so she made sure to be home for dinner.
She followed him outside and got straight to the point, "Edward, did I mess things up with that Emerald Island situation?"
"Susanna, I've told you before, nothing you do is gonna mess things up for me. Yeah, some folks from Emerald Island showed up, but don't sweat it. If they caused trouble at the research institute, you were right to kick 'em out. If I was there, it wouldn't have been as simple as sending them to the cops."
Edward knew the research institute was crucial for Charles' treatment. If the Emerald Island folks caused trouble, it could mess everything up.
Susanna stuck out her tongue. "As long as you're not mad. Those Emerald Island people are always a pain, and our relationship with Owen's been rocky. If Owen teams up with them against the Jones family, it could get messy."
Edward patted her forehead and reassured her, "Don't worry about it. Owen's been acting all high and mighty, contacting the Abbott family and dealing with Emerald Island. I know all about it."
"But if Owen really teams up with Emerald Island and the Abbott family, we're gonna have a problem."
"Are you worried about me having trouble, or the Jones family clashing with the Abbott family?"
"Edward, it doesn't matter if the Jones family clashes with the Abbott family. We'll handle it. What I'm worried about is Owen's got an illegitimate daughter."
Edward raised an eyebrow, "Owen's got an illegitimate daughter? What's the deal with that? I know these families have their share of hidden kids, but if you're bringing it up, there must be more to it."
Susanna explained, "The illegitimate daughter is Vivian. She was doing time in Lindwell prison but got secretly brought to Philly by Owen."
"What, Vivian's out?"
Edward's expression darkened. He knew about Vivian, who had swapped bone marrow and almost seriously harmed Charles.
He had personally sent a legal team to make sure Vivian got a heavier sentence and paid the price in prison.
"Yeah, I found out at a charity gala. Didn't expect Vivian to be Owen's illegitimate daughter. And from what Owen said, he wants her to stay in Philly and even tried to make a deal with me."
"Let me guess, Owen tried to strong-arm you."
Susanna nodded. "But I didn't let him. I played along, but I've got my own plans."
Edward smiled, "That's my sister, all grown up. But let me handle this. A woman who's been in prison dares to show off in front of you?"
There was a dangerous glint in Edward's eyes.
Anyone daring to mess with Susanna, especially Vivian, must be asking for trouble.
