Chapter 511 Splashing Water
Maud jabbed a finger at Vivian's nose, snarling, "Do you think you and Ramond deserve to be part of the Abbott Family? Keep dreaming. As long as I'm around, you'll never be acknowledged. And you want to team up with us? What a joke."
Right then, Maud looked nothing like the classy lady she usually was, more like a raving lunatic.
Vivian shot back, not missing a beat, "Oh really? It's a shame my husband wasn't in good health and died in that little accident. Otherwise, he'd be back in the Abbott Family, claiming his share."
"You're lying. After my husband died, everything went to my son, not you."
"That's because you didn't know about the will. Why do you think I stayed in the Abbott Family? My son Ramond inherited 5% of my husband's shares in the Abbott Group. That 5% is now in Ramond's name."
Owen's eyes lit up at this. With that kind of connection, working with the Abbott Family would be rock solid.
Susanna looked at Vivian, surprised. She didn't expect Vivian to keep this under wraps so well.
Maud felt like she was losing it. "He left 5% of the shares? That's insane!"
Vivian smirked, "I told you, if my husband hadn't been in poor health and passed away, there's no way you'd be running the Abbott Family today."
Susanna chimed in, "Vivian, if you had shares, why were you living so modestly?"
Knowing Vivian's materialistic nature, if she had those shares, she'd be rolling in dough. But she didn't seem like she had money before.
Vivian's face twitched, "That's because I'm low-key."
Maud turned to Aaron. "How could you let him get 5% of the shares? You didn't need to bother with them, let alone bring them back to the Abbott Family."
"Mom, this is Dad's will. It's set in stone. It was notarized and handled by a lawyer. I can't just ignore it."
Aaron then looked at Susanna, "As for those shares, they were transferred to Ramond. All the earnings are managed by a trustee and can only be used when Ramond comes of age. Unless it's for education or Ramond's personal needs, that money is off-limits."
Susanna finally got it. The shares were set up this way for a reason. Aaron must've seen through Vivian, which is why he made these arrangements. You had to give it to Vivian; she played the long game well. For five years, she never showed her true colors.
Vivian was a bit miffed, "Anyway, when Ramond comes of age, all of this will be his. He won't be just anyone; he'll be an Abbott and Owen's grandson."
In the future, he could even become the heir to Owen's family, and then he wouldn't need to suck up to the Abbott Family.
Owen's expression turned thoughtful. If there were Abbott Family shares involved, that would be even better.
With this connection, would he still worry about not having a family to team up with in the future?
The Jones Family was nothing compared to this.
Maud was completely shattered. Seeing Vivian's smug face, she realized she'd been played for a fool for the past five years.
No woman could stand her husband cheating, let alone watching the mistress's kid take away the assets!
She grabbed the kettle next to her and splashed it on Vivian's face, screaming hysterically, "How dare you call Ramond part of the Abbott Family?"
Vivian got scalded by the boiling water and screamed instantly.
The scene turned into utter chaos.
Susanna was stunned, watching the madness unfold.
A drop of water splashed on the back of her hand, and it was pretty hot.
You could only imagine how painful it must be for Vivian to have the whole kettle of water poured on her!
"Are you okay?" Aaron rushed over, grabbed her hand, and dunked it into the ice bucket meant for chilling wine on the table.
Susanna was taken aback. "Actually, I'm fine. Just got a little water on me."
"Your hand is red. What if it leaves a scar?" Aaron's tone was serious, holding her wrist tightly.
Susanna felt the warmth from his grip, and her expression turned a bit awkward.
She grabbed a pastry with her other hand and watched the chaos. Luckily, she was sitting on the other side, so the water didn't really get her, just a bit.
But Owen wasn't so lucky.
Amelia rushed to Owen, worried, "Dad, are you okay? I saw you got splashed with hot water. Let me wipe it off for you."
Owen was pretty ticked off, not expecting Maud to throw boiling water.
His hand was also scalded, starting to hurt.
Vivian was standing there screaming, but no one went to help her.
The scene was a total mess.
Just then, a waiter came to serve the dishes and noticed someone was hurt. He immediately asked Vivian, "Are you okay?"
"Are you blind? I got scalded. Get me some ice to cool down!"
"There's ice on the table. I'll get it for you right away."
Vivian was so angry she was jumping, "Hurry up; I'm in so much pain!"
But when the waiter got to the table, he found the ice bucket was already in use.
Susanna paused and said, "Then, give it to her."
After all, she wasn't really scalded.
The waiter quickly said, "Thank you."
As soon as she took her hand out, Aaron pressed it back in, his tone serious, "Your hand isn't healed yet."
Susanna was silent for a moment. "I think it's fine now."
Aaron frowned. "A scald needs to be soaked for at least half an hour to be effective. Until the secretary brings the burn ointment, you can't take it out."
Owen endured the burning pain on his hand. He had seen it just now; Susanna wasn't really scalded.
Even if she got a few drops of water, so what?
Amelia couldn't help but ask, "Susanna, are you seriously hurt?"
"Not really. He's just overreacting."
Susanna handed the ice bucket to Amelia, who turned to apply ice to Owen.
At this moment, Vivian cried out in grievance, "Dad!"
