Chapter 63 Who is that man?
As Erica searched for him, she continued to call Austin, but no one picked up. She thought to herself, 'What's going on? Did she see it wrong earlier?'
But that man in work clothes looked exactly like Austin.
In the Emergency room, infusion room.
Susanna lay on the bed resting, perhaps recovering from the fright earlier. She was covered in sweat, but now she felt much better.
"Susanna, tell me honestly what happened," Austin said as he entered the room from outside. Susanna accidentally choked on her water when she saw him.
Austin didn't bother asking questions and patted her back. "Be careful. Let me pour you another glass of water."
Coughing slightly out of guilt, Susanna looked at Austin with teary eyes and a pleading gaze.
Seeing Susanna's expression, Austin immediately stopped being angry and instead felt heartbroken. He sighed and pulled over a chair. "Susanna, I'm not blaming you. I'm just worried about you. After all, you suddenly said you were pregnant. How am I supposed to understand this?"
Austin thought his long-lost sister should be living a happy life. When she was in her thirties and wanted to get married, they would help her choose a suitable man. But then she suddenly said she was already pregnant!
Susanna lowered her eyelids. "I know, but this happened before you found me."
"Susanna, who is the father of the child? Don't worry. I want to talk with that man in a friendly way. After all, as your brother, I have the right to know about this." Austin said.
Austin felt that he was barely able to control his rage. If it weren't for the fear of hurting Susanna, he really wanted to go out and beat up the man who broke her.
Susanna pressed her lips together. "Austin, that’s all in the past. I don't want to talk about it."
"Susanna, don't be afraid. Daniel is a lawyer. He knows many famous lawyers. We will have the man who hurt you sent to prison!" Austin said firmly.
Susanna felt that Austin had misunderstood her. She looked up and said, "Getting a lawyer wouldn't be of much use in this matter. After all, I have decided to keep the child after we broke up. He doesn't even know about the child's existence!"
Austin breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that Susanna had been mistreated. Hearing her words, he felt a bit annoyed. "Who would break up with you? What kind of jerk is that?"
In Austin's mind, Susanna was the most perfect girl in the world. No one was worthy of Susanna.
Susanna forced a bitter smile. "I had a secret crush on him at first, but it was too exhausting. So, I decided to give up and completely say goodbye to the past. Austin, I don't want to bring him up or talk about the past."
The most important thing was that Susanna didn't want Austin to find Aaron, which would cause trouble for Austin. After all, the Abbott family was the wealthiest in Lindwell and had a lot of influence.
Austin furrowed his brow and spoke. "Is the child Aaron's?"
Susanna hesitated for a moment, wondering how Austin could be so astute. It was because he had seen Aaron bring her to the hospital earlier. She quickly explained, "No, it's not his."
"Susanna, then how do you explain Aaron bringing you to the hospital?" Austin asked.
"I fainted while I was working at the mall today, and coincidentally, he was shopping in the mall. I used to be Maria's nurse, so he knows me." Susanna explained with a plausible explanation.
She noticed that Austin still seemed a bit skeptical, so she quickly changed the subject. "Austin, how did you know he was Aaron?"
Although she had mentioned working as a nurse for a wealthy family, Aaron had always kept a low profile. How did Austin know that the person who brought her was Aaron?
Austin's expression froze instantly. He couldn't tell Susanna that because Erica had liked Aaron for many years; he knew what Aaron looked like.
Austin hesitated for a moment before answering, "Because your registration and payment information had the name Aaron, I just saw it."
Susanna didn't expect Aaron to also help her with the medical expenses. She touched her belly. Fortunately, she had run into Austin here; otherwise, it would have been impossible to hide the child's existence today. If Aaron insisted on getting medication for her, she would have to tell the truth to protect her child. She was truly fortunate!
Austin also looked at her belly. "Susanna, do you want to keep this child?"
Susanna's hand faltered. "Austin, I want to keep this child. Don't worry. I will work hard to earn money."
"It's not about money. Can you tell me why you want to keep the child of such a jerk?" Austin asked.
"Because I had been alone for a long time before, I wanted to keep the child," Susanna replied.
Austin suddenly felt sorry and took a while to recover. "Okay, if you want to keep the child, then keep it."
"Austin, I haven't told anyone about my pregnancy, including Madison. Can you help me keep it a secret?" Susanna pleaded.
"Sure, it's best that you don't tell Edward about this. Although he is usually patient with you, he has a quick temper. He might ask you to get rid of the child. Don't mind him. He also feels sorry for you being an unmarried mother." Austin said.
Susanna nodded. "I know, thank you."
Susanna thought she wasn't just an unmarried mother but a single mother.
Susanna yawned, feeling a bit sleepy. She glanced at Austin's pocket. "Austin, your phone has been lighting up. Is someone calling you?"
Austin took a brief look at his phone. It was Erica.
A guilty look flashed in his eyes, and he calmly put the phone back into his pocket. "Yes, it's nothing urgent. Just drink some water and get some rest."
After obediently drinking some warm water, Susanna lay in bed to sleep and rest.
Austin remained by her side, unable to help but glance at Susanna's belly, feeling somewhat helpless. He thought to himself, 'I really hope I don't find out who the father of this child is! Otherwise, I'll kill that scum of a man!'
At that moment, a nurse walked in, wanting to say something, but Austin interrupted her. He went outside the infusion room. "What's the matter?"
"Dr. Jones, someone is looking for you. She said she's your sister." The nurse said.
Austin frowned. "I'm busy. I don't have time."
He now had a strong dislike for the Abbott family. Just earlier, Aaron brought Susanna to the hospital. A scion of a wealthy family wouldn't bother with a nurse. They were both men, and he could guess Aaron's thoughts.
But that girl Aaron brought to the hospital was Susanna, which he couldn't ignore!
Aaron, that divorced man, didn't deserve Susanna.
But just as he turned around, he saw Erica coming out of the elevator on the other side, and their eyes met perfectly.
