Chapter 512 The Real Will
The air was thick with awkwardness.
Susanna raised an eyebrow at the scene and had to stifle a laugh.
Vivian was clearly the most injured, but Owen grabbed the ice bucket and used it on himself first.
Owen quickly realized his mistake and, looking sheepish, said, "Vivian, use some ice. We'll hit the hospital later to make sure you don't get any scars."
Vivian's face went pale with anger, but she quickly composed herself. She couldn't afford to lose her cool now.
She had always known Owen was a selfish man, but he was her only lifeline at the moment.
Vivian squeezed out some tears and said pitifully, "Dad, I'm fine. There's only one ice bucket, so you use it. You got hurt because of me, and if you get injured, I'll feel guilty."
Owen was immediately filled with guilt. "Vivian, don't worry, I'll make sure to get justice for you."
"Thanks, Dad." Vivian replied pitifully, then shot a cold glance at Maud beside her.
She wished she could stab Maud right now.
How dare she splash boiling water on her!
But she knew she couldn't act now. Murder was illegal, and there would be plenty of chances for revenge.
Right now, she had to endure. If she couldn't bear it, she wouldn't have been able to leverage the Abbott Family to get this far.
Vivian was aware that a significant factor in Owen taking her back was Raymond's connection to the Abbott Family.
She could use this to her advantage.
Seeing this, Maud pointed at Vivian and cursed, "Stop with the act. All you do is deceive men."
Owen frowned and looked at Aaron, saying, "Mr. Abbott, you need to explain what happened today. Vivian is my daughter, and I've owed her a lot over the years. Maud insulted her in front of everyone and injured her like this. If I call the cops, you know what could happen to Maud."
Vivian didn't blame him and even gave him the ice bucket. Owen felt he should stand up for her.
Vivian added smugly, "Yeah, Maud got a one-year suspended sentence and should be in Lindwell, not here."
She reminded Owen not to forget this leverage.
Owen nodded. "That's right, Mr. Abbott. If this gets out, Maud's situation will be more than just a suspended sentence."
Maud's face turned white with anger. Vivian was indeed a troublemaker.
Amelia quickly tried to smooth things over, "Dad, now is not the time to talk about this. Your hand has blisters. We should go to the hospital; ice alone won't help much."
Owen's assistant rushed over.
Aaron looked at Owen and said, "If this gets out, Vivian won't be able to stay in Philadelphia. They both need to go back to Lindwell and face the music."
Vivian and Maud's faces changed. Jail was the last place they wanted to be.
Vivian instinctively looked at Owen and said, "I'm different."
Maud snorted, "You're just an illegitimate child. What's so special about you?"
Amelia grabbed Owen's arm and said, "Dad, let's go. We need to see a doctor. If you get scars, people will talk."
Owen didn't argue. This wasn't the time to deal with it, so he followed Amelia out.
Vivian's back was killing her. She thought Owen would stand up for her!
Vivian glared at Maud and said, "I'll remember this. You won't get away with it. Just wait."
Then she ran out.
She needed to go to the hospital with Owen to get treated. This was her chance to gain sympathy, and she couldn't miss it.
As for Maud, she'd deal with her later.
After they left, the room fell silent.
Susanna said, "What a show!"
Aaron looked at her and said, "Is your hand okay? Let me see."
Susanna pulled her hand back, "I'm fine. It was just a drop of water, no big deal."
She glanced at the despondent Maud and said, "The person you should be most concerned about right now isn't me, but Maud."
Maud looked like she had aged years in an instant.
She looked at Aaron sadly and said, "I may not be a smart or excellent mother, and I may not be liked by your grandparents. But I've always been sincere to you and never harmed you. I don't understand why you would do this, and why you would team up with Vivian and Ramond to humiliate me."
Maud couldn't accept this reality.
Susanna was also curious. How could Aaron easily accept Ramond and keep it from Maud?
No woman could accept her husband's illegitimate child.
Aaron was silent for a moment, then looked at Maud and said, "I had to agree to this condition because the will my father left wasn't for 5% of the shares to Ramond."
"Not 5% of the shares, then what?"
"The will my father left was for my half-brother and me to take over the company together, each with half. But my so-called brother died young. Before he died, he wrote a will asking me to give some shares to Ramond. Ramond wouldn't compete with my children for the company. If I agreed, he would void my father's will."
"So that's how it is." Maud laughed and cried at the same time.
She looked at Susanna and said, "Do you know why I was so against your marriage to my son back then?"
