Chapter 582 Why Take Acting So Seriously?

The two were really close. Susanna was tugging on his tie, and Aaron was totally going along with it. Their eyes locked as Susanna looked down at him.

Aaron's throat bobbed. "Think of it as my way of saying sorry."

Susanna grinned, leaned in, and their breaths mingled. Aaron's heart raced, his deep eyes glued to her.

Just as they were about to kiss, Susanna turned her head slightly and whispered, "The bait's taken, Mr. Abbott. What are you daydreaming about?"

Aaron snapped back to reality, a hint of disappointment in his eyes. But then, his hand landed on her waist, as suggestive as it could be.

Susanna was startled and instinctively pushed him away. But Aaron grabbed her wrist and whispered, "The act isn't over yet."

Susanna paused. Was Aaron doing this on purpose? Right then, Susanna didn't care about acting anymore. She stood up. "I think our walk is done for today."

Aaron got up slowly, watching her walk away with a fond smile. He didn't hesitate and followed her. At that moment, Aaron didn't care if Vivian was watching. He never cared about irrelevant people.

After they left the small garden, Vivian, dressed in a nurse's uniform, stepped out from the corner with a dark expression. Why was it that Susanna had fallen so low, yet she could still win Aaron's affection?

If Susanna remarried Aaron in the future, she'd not only be the heir to the Jones family but also Aaron's wife. That would be too lucky! Vivian was green with envy. Why wasn't she the one with such good fortune?

Back then, Vivian had a son with a man who died early. When she found out he was an illegitimate child of the Abbott Family, she was thrilled. Even as an illegitimate child, he could still get some money, right? But she didn't expect the man to die so early, before even returning to the Abbott Family.

Later, Maria didn't acknowledge Vivian's identity, and she had to live humbly in the Abbott Family. Then, Vivian found her biological father, Owen, thinking she could live a wealthy life by his side, but he used and abandoned her, leaving her with nothing.

Vivian thought, 'Why is it that despite my efforts to live well, I end up with nothing, while a woman like Susanna can easily obtain everything I want? It is really unfair!'

Vivian's face turned grim, and a middle-aged woman walked over. "What are you doing here? I heard Maria in the VIP room upstairs is getting better. The nurse there needs to take leave because of a family death. Didn't you say you know some medical skills? They're considering if you can handle it."

Vivian quickly smiled. "Of course, I can. Thanks for recommending me. I got the bag you mentioned last time, and it was even on discount." A dark look flashed in Vivian's eyes. If she couldn't live well, she wouldn't let them either.

Maria was like a ticking time bomb. If she remembered that Vivian had tricked her and pushed her down the stairs, Vivian's life would be over. So, priority number one was to get rid of Maria.

After Susanna took the elevator back upstairs, Aaron followed her. She coughed and looked at Aaron. "Just now, it was just acting. Don't overthink it."

Aaron's gaze deepened. "You were acting, but I wasn't."

Susanna found it hard to resist Aaron's straightforwardness. She turned and went outside the ICU, seeing Lillian sitting by the bed, reading a storybook gently. Charles sat quietly beside her, occasionally checking on Maria's condition.

Seeing this scene, Susanna couldn't bear to interrupt. At this moment, perhaps what Maria wanted to see most was the children.

The secretary stepped forward and whispered, "The news has been spread. In a few days, Mrs. Abbott will be transferred to a regular ward." Of course, the person being transferred wasn't Maria but someone to lure Vivian.

Susanna nodded. "That's good."

At this moment, Charles held Lillian's hand and came out. "Maria is asleep."

Susanna patted the children's heads. "Well done. Continue tomorrow."

Lillian looked up. "I'll pray for Great Grandma. She will definitely get better."

"With your blessings, Maria will surely recover soon." Susanna glanced at the time. "It's getting late. Let's go."

"Wait." Aaron looked at her. "Finish the act. I'll take you home."

Susanna hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."

Charles kept a straight face, knowing this time, they had to catch the person who hurt Maria.

The group took the elevator and left. Lillian suddenly held Aaron's hand. He looked down at her smile, and his heart melted.

He looked up, and the family of four was holding hands. This scene was something he never dared to dream of. Susanna pretended not to notice, thinking it was just acting.

Charles glanced at Aaron, his expression complicated. Although he had always disliked him, after spending time together, Aaron didn't seem so bad.

Charles had also investigated Aaron's background and found no bad news or scandals over the years. Charles quickly looked away, pretending he hadn't seen anything.

The family of four left the hospital calmly, with the sunset just right. Vivian stood in the corridor, watching this scene, her jealousy almost overwhelming her. Why could they be happy while she had nothing?

In the car, Susanna and the group left the hospital. Lillian was very happy, looking around and saying sweetly, "Are we going to eat something delicious?"

Aaron looked at Lillian. "What do you want to eat?"

"A burger."

The secretary in the front said, "There's a mall nearby. It'll only take a few minutes."

Aaron's breath suddenly hitched, but he didn't say anything, as it wasn't his decision to make.

Susanna felt everyone's eyes on her. She caught Lillian's eyes, eager with anticipation. Susanna thought for a moment and said, "Do you all want to go eat?"
