Chapter 177 Because I Don't Like You

Susanna had never thought anyone could be this full of themselves!

She took a deep breath and looked Dick straight in the eye. "I've never had an issue with the divorce, Dick. You're really overthinking it."

How had she missed Dick's massive ego before?

"That's great, Susanna. If that's how you feel, I'm happy too. Here, take these. I bought these flowers just for you."

Dick handed her the roses, looking sure she'd accept them.

Susanna glanced at the roses, debating whether to say what was really on her mind.

Their colleagues around them started to cheer, "Say yes, say yes."

All of this was making Susanna really impatient.

’Better to be direct; offending someone is better than dragging this out,’ Susanna thought.

She took the roses from Dick's hand, and the colleagues around them started cheering. Dick wore a smug smile, thinking it didn't take much effort to win Susanna over.

'A divorced woman is the easiest to pursue,' he mocked silently.

The next second, Susanna threw the roses on the ground, and the atmosphere around them quieted down significantly.

Dick's expression stiffened. "Susanna, what do you mean by this?"

He seemed unable to believe Susanna would do such a thing.

"I think actions speak louder than words."

Susanna's expression was cold. "Dick, I don't think we're right for each other, and I don't like you. This has nothing to do with my divorce; I simply don't like you, so I won't accept your confession!"

She felt she had made herself clear enough this time.

Dick's expression turned sour. Being rejected in front of so many colleagues was embarrassing for him as the boss.

The scene became very quiet.

Seeing the situation, the colleagues quickly chimed in, "Susanna, do you really have no feelings for Dick at all? When you won first place, many big companies wanted to hire you, but you chose Epic Horizon. Wasn't it because of Dick?"

"Yeah, Susanna, everyone has seen how you and Dick get along. You don't have to be shy; we all respect and bless you."

Hearing her colleagues' words, Susanna replied calmly, "That's because Dick promised me I wouldn't have to work regular hours and only needed to be on duty on weekends. I still have classes at school and can't work full-time."

Susanna felt she had explained herself clearly enough.

Dick's expression turned cold. "Susanna, come to my office."

Susanna nodded.

’Fine, turning him down in front of everyone must have bruised his ego. It's best to go to the office and sort things out! We can also discuss the campus post.’

After following Dick into the office, Susanna spoke directly, "Dick, I'm sorry."

"Susanna, you don't need to apologize. But I just don't understand, why don't you like me?"

Dick had been adored since he was a child and was a popular figure in college. Many girls had crushes on him, but he had always been cautious. After all, his future wife had to come from a family background that could help him.

He had only one girlfriend with an excellent family background during his four years in college, but she went abroad for further studies after graduation, and her family forced Dick to break up with her.

Dick knew her parents looked down on his family background, so he was determined to start Epic Horizon, hoping that one day, when it became successful, he could prove them wrong and make his ex-girlfriend regret underestimating him.

Currently, Susanna was the most suitable candidate. Her brother doted on her, and she was divorced. What better man could she find?

He was unmarried and had excellent prospects as well. Why wouldn't Susanna be interested in him?

Could it be that she, like his ex-girlfriend, was materialistic and looked down on him?

Susanna was a bit helpless. "Dick, it's not your problem. You can't force feelings, and I'm still going through a divorce. I haven't considered personal relationships."

"Still going through a divorce?" Dick seemed a bit surprised.

"Yes, my ex-husband and I have signed the divorce agreement, but we haven't completed the follow-up procedures. Technically, I'm still married. So, from any perspective, we're not suitable," Susanna stated bluntly, holding nothing back.

If she didn't make it clear, she felt Dick would misunderstand again.

Dick didn't expect to be rejected so thoroughly, but thinking that Susanna was still married, maybe that was why she wouldn't accept him. He couldn't give up yet!

Dick continued to speak affectionately, "Susanna, I can wait for you; it's okay."

He had already calculated the benefits of marrying Susanna, so waiting a bit longer was no big deal. It would also prove his sincerity to Susanna's brother.

"Dick, you still don't get it. You don't need to wait for me because I don't like you! Do you not understand these words?" She was a bit furious.

Susanna spoke directly this time, "Dick, I saw you and Harper having dinner with a girl at a restaurant last weekend. You gave her the same roses. Was she your blind date?"

Dick's expression changed dramatically. He didn't expect Susanna to see that. He quickly explained, "Susanna, I thought I was just going out to eat with my mom that day. I didn't know she had invited a girl. I had no idea about it."

"What about this post?"

Susanna took out her phone and opened the campus post.

"Susanna, I just saw this post too. I don't know who posted it. If it bothers you, I'll explain it. Don't worry, I won't let this affect you," Dick explained.

"Dick, how long are you going to keep pretending? You posted this, didn't you?"

Susanna didn't feel inclined to show him any respect.

Dick's expression faltered. "Susanna, what are you saying? I'm confused. How could I have posted that? It's not related to me at all."

Susanna nodded. "The IP address shows it was posted from your computer. Should we check your browsing history?"

Dick was stunned, not expecting Susanna to be so capable of finding out he was the one who posted it.

He quickly explained, "Susanna, I did it because of my fondness for you. My aim was to demonstrate my sincerity through public opinion and convey my acceptance of your divorce. I had no other intentions, but upon hearing your response, I was already considering deleting the post. "
