Chapter 394 She Had Already Run Out of Patience

Susanna's brain just flatlined. How the hell could the box with the bone marrow be empty?

She heard Michael's words, and her face went ghost-white. Her voice shook. "How could the box be empty?"

When she got the news, it felt like a ton of bricks hit her heart.

"Susanna, I wouldn't mess around with something this serious. I double-checked everything and even confirmed the whole transport process with your secretary. No screw-ups, so the problem must've happened before the box left the hospital."

Before it left the hospital? That meant someone messed with the bone marrow beforehand.

Susanna took a deep breath, trying to keep it together. Freaking out wouldn't help now.

She ran her fingers through her hair and said, "There shouldn't have been any mistakes at the hospital. Everything was set up perfectly."

She thought everything would go off without a hitch. Once the bone marrow got to Michael, they could start treating Charles.

But despite all the prep, she never saw this coming—the box with the bone marrow was empty!

Who the hell would mess with Charles's life-saving stuff?

"Susanna, I called the hospital head. He swore he personally put the bone marrow in the box, but he has no clue why the box we got was empty. Something went wrong somewhere in between. You need to go to the hospital yourself."

"I get it. I'll head to the hospital right now to figure this out."

"Susanna, I gotta remind you: Charles is already in the vacuum chamber waiting. You need to find Aaron's donated bone marrow ASAP. Otherwise, you know what could happen to Charles."

Susanna's eyes turned icy. "I know, don't worry. No matter what, I'll get the bone marrow back!"

Whoever messed with the bone marrow, they were gonna pay big time!

After hanging up, Susanna's hands were shaking.

She fixed her expression, turned, and walked into the hall, looking at Madison. "Sorry, I have an emergency and gotta leave right now. I can't do lunch with you."

"Susanna, what's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost. What happened?"

"Aunt Madison, it's too much to explain right now. I gotta go. I'll fill you in later."

"Alright, go quickly and be careful."

Madison didn't push, just looked at her with worry.

Pushing down her unease, Susanna left Madison's place in a hurry.

Once in the car, her eyes turned cold, and her whole vibe changed.

She rubbed her temples, thinking back on everything. Michael was right; the problem had to be at the hospital!

The only one at the hospital who could've messed with it was Aaron.

She never thought Aaron would stab her in the back at such a crucial moment!

No wonder Aaron managed to corner her on the hospital rooftop yesterday, but he didn't say a word, just waiting for her to find the empty bone marrow box today.

That sneaky bastard!

Susanna sped to the hospital, but they told her Aaron had been discharged that morning.

Susanna tracked down the doc in charge of the bone marrow. They went over everything but still couldn't figure out where things went south.

She quickly arranged for someone to grab the hospital's surveillance footage, then bounced.

Pulling out her phone, she called Aaron. He picked up fast, his deep voice coming through. "Didn't think you'd call. Thought you were back in Novaria."

Susanna bit back her anger. "Heard you got discharged. Where you at now?"

"I'm at the office. What's up? Need something?"

Susanna gritted her teeth. "Yeah, I need to see you."

She hung up and told the driver, "Take me to the Abbott Group."

She had to confront Aaron face-to-face. She needed to know what he was playing at and why he was holding back the bone marrow. He knew it was life or death!

Clutching her phone, she thought about Charles waiting in that vacuum chamber. Her heart felt like it was being ripped apart.

If they lost this bone marrow, Charles was screwed!

She wasn't about to let Charles die waiting in that chamber!

The car sped to the Abbott Group.

She jumped out, slammed the door, and stormed towards the building in her high heels.

But security stopped her. "Miss, you can't come in if you're not an employee."

Susanna shot them a cold, haughty look. "I'm here to see Aaron."

Without another glance, she kept walking.

The security tried to block her, but her bodyguards stepped in.

Susanna walked in without a hitch. The receptionist, sensing trouble, stood up. "Miss, who are you here to see?"

"Aaron."

"Mr. Abbott? Do you have an appointment?"

"Nope. But I need to see him today!"

Susanna didn't have time to mess around with the receptionist. She headed straight for the elevator. Every second counted.

The receptionist quickly called for backup.

Soon, a dozen security guards showed up, squaring off with her bodyguards.

The tension was thick.

Just then, Vivian strutted out, looking smug. "Ms. Ramirez, what brings you to the Abbott Group?"

Susanna shot her a cold glance. "I'm here to see Aaron."

"Ms. Ramirez, Aaron got discharged this morning and came straight to the office for a meeting. He's already behind on work because of you. Why are you here to hassle him now?"

"This is between him and me. None of your business."

Vivian turned to the receptionist. "Stop this woman. She's just a gold digger pestering Mr. Abbott. After getting rejected, she's here out of spite. You know Mr. Abbott hates this kind of drama. You know what to do, right?"

"Ms. Nguyen, we got it."

The receptionist bought Vivian's story and told security to stop Susanna.

Seeing this, Susanna's patience snapped.

She glared at Vivian. "Didn't get enough of that slap yesterday, did you?"
