Chapter 418 Mr. Abbott Was Bullied

"Yo, you talkin' 'bout that engagement with the Thornberry fam?"

Susanna grabbed a tissue, wiped away her tears from laughing so hard, and said, "That was all in the Thornberrys' heads. I never said yes to Roman."

Aaron's face scrunched up. "Look, you're the only heir to the Jones fam now. Those dudes are just tryna marry you for their own gain. Don't be dumb and fall for their crap."

Susanna's lips twisted into a cold smirk. She gave him a look and said, "I don't need you to tell me. Been burned by a guy once, ain't gonna happen again."

Aaron knew exactly who she was talkin' about and tried to explain, "This thing between us? It's different."

"Yeah, it's different alright. Your situation's even worse. Be glad I haven't got my memory back yet. If I did, you think I'd still be chattin' with you?"

Susanna didn't wanna waste more breath on Aaron. She had a business dinner comin' up and still needed to change, do her makeup, and fix her hair.

She rolled up to Epic Horizon, her usual spot. The manager came out all smiles, "Ms. Jones, here for a business dinner look? Got any ideas?"

"I wanna look good but not too extra. This movie I'm pushin' is all positive vibes, so I can't be too flashy."

"Got it. Right this way."

Aaron had to dump all the stuff he bought. Soon, someone came over to pick out clothes and shoes for her.

Aaron had never waited for a woman to get styled before. His time was too precious for that.

He glanced at the staff and asked, "How long's this gonna take?"

"Two to three hours."

That long?

Aaron couldn't wrap his head around why it took so long for a woman to do her makeup and hair.

He looked at a bodyguard next to him and said, "Sebastian, lemme borrow your phone for a sec?"

Sebastian's face got a bit weird. "No way, man! Phones and wives ain't for lending."

Aaron's lips pressed into a thin line; this was on purpose.

Marcus walked over and said, "Ms. Jones told us not to lend you money or our phones. If you can't deal with it, you might as well take your ticket and bounce."

Aaron got it, but he couldn't just leave Novaria.

After giving Aaron the heads-up, Marcus turned and left.

Once Marcus was gone, Sebastian put his phone away and said, "How much dough you owe out there?"

Aaron frowned. "I owe money?"

Sebastian patted Aaron's shoulder. "Rookie, need me to drop some life wisdom on you?"

Rookie?

Hearing his name, Aaron gave Sebastian a calm look. Not many folks dared to call him that.

Seeing Aaron stay quiet, Sebastian figured he was cool with it and went on, "Rookie, since Ms. Jones likes you, that's your lucky break. Don't play hard to get. You're broke and dodging debts everywhere. If you just go with Ms. Jones, she won't treat you bad."

Aaron's face got even darker. What kinda story had Susanna cooked up for him?

Huge debts? Now he's gotta sell himself to pay 'em off?

Holding back his anger, Aaron looked at Sebastian and asked, "What? She usually threaten dudes like this to get with her?"

Sebastian hesitated. Not really, usually, guys were all over Susanna.

Thinking Aaron was worried, Sebastian said earnestly, "Rookie, listen up. Workin' for Ms. Jones for a year, you'll make more than you could in a lifetime. Seriously, you won't lose out."

Aaron shoved Sebastian's hand away and said coldly, "You better shut up!"

Seeing Aaron's attitude, Sebastian's face changed. "Listen up, rookie. You're new here. Whether you stick around or not is up to me!"

Aaron stayed silent.

Back in the day, a guy like Sebastian wouldn't even be worth his time.

Aaron stood up and moved to the side, ignoring Sebastian. If he didn't need to stay here, he would've put Sebastian in his place long ago.

Two hours later, Susanna finally strutted out of the dressing room in her new outfit.

She glanced around the sofa area, only seeing a few bodyguards but no Aaron. Surprised, she asked, "Where's the new guy?"

Sebastian stepped up, "You mean the rookie, Ms. Jones? Aaron?"

"Rookie?"

Hearing the name, Susanna chuckled and said, "Yeah, Aaron the rookie. Where'd he go?"

"I sent him to get us drinks. Gotta train the newbies."

Just then, Susanna saw Aaron walk in with several bags of drinks, his big sunglasses not hiding his pissed-off face.

Clearly, Aaron was not happy!

After handing out the drinks to his colleagues, Aaron walked up to her with another cup and said, "This one's for you."

Susanna took a sip, then handed it back, saying, "Not my flavor, and it's too sweet. Aaron, looks like you need to step up your game."

With that, Susanna lifted her dress and left Epic Horizon.

But as soon as she stepped out, she covered her mouth and started laughing. She didn't expect Sebastian to call him that!

Aaron followed behind, eyeing Susanna in her evening gown, especially the slit at the back showing off her slender waist. It was pretty damn attractive.

He took a sip of his drink, frowned, and tossed it in the trash. It was way too sweet.

After Susanna got in the car, Aaron slid in next to her.

Aaron glanced at Susanna and couldn't help but say, "Isn't your dress a bit too revealing?"

"Is it? I think it's pretty conservative, not showing much."

Aaron thought of her slender waist under the lights, which was super eye-catching. Any guy would be into it.

He said grumpily, "Your stylist's got no taste. You should switch it up next time, or I can get a pro from Lindwell for you."

Susanna looked at him seriously and asked, "You think it doesn't look good?"

Looking at the stunning Susanna, he lied, "It doesn't look good."

"Then I'm relieved."

Aaron couldn't help but feel even more frustrated.

An hour later, the car pulled up outside a fancy hotel.
