Chapter 443 You Should Apologize to Him

Susanna acted like she didn't even notice Aaron's icy vibe. Ever since she got her memory back, she couldn't care less about him.

If her brothers hadn't found her, she'd be struggling big time taking care of Lillian and Charles right now.

Without her brothers' protection, Aaron could've easily snatched their custody.

The only reason Aaron was hanging around like a loyal puppy was because of the Jones family's clout in Novaria.

She'd already figured out his game, so she kept reminding herself to stay cool and not fall for Aaron's fake nice-guy act.

Susanna turned to Michael and said, "I'm getting out today. Aviana invited me over for dinner. Got time to join us?"

"Yeah, I'm free this afternoon."

Michael had also spotted Aaron lurking nearby. He was a bit taken aback and got on guard, knowing the messy history between Aaron and Susanna.

Aaron and Michael locked eyes, both clearly hating each other's guts.

Seeing Michael, Aaron tensed up. He knew exactly who Michael was and that he once had a thing with Susanna!

Hearing Susanna invite Michael for dinner just made him even more pissed.

Aaron's face twisted, and he said, "Susanna, we need to talk."

Susanna turned to him and asked, "What’s up?"

Aaron, all cold and serious, said, "I need to talk to you alone."

Michael, standing nearby, got the hint but kept quiet.

Susanna calmly replied, "Just say it here; we're all friends."

After she spoke, she saw Aaron's face darken. She used to be a pro at reading Aaron's moods, and it was clear he was fuming.

And Susanna knew exactly why Aaron was mad.

But she didn't care anymore; whether Aaron was mad or not was none of her business.

Aaron was frustrated and bit his lip. "It's not cool with others around."

"Michael isn't an outsider."

"But to me, he is, and I want to talk about Lillian."

Michael, hearing this, calmly said, "Mr. Abbott, if it's about Lillian, you might as well ask me directly."

Aaron snorted, "What does Lillian have to do with you?"

Susanna jumped in, "Michael is Lillian's godfather. How could it not be related to him?"

Hearing the word "godfather," Aaron gritted his teeth. "Susanna, how could you just pick Lillian's godfather without asking me first? Did you even care about my opinion?"

Susanna had a past with Michael. Now that Michael was Lillian's godfather, there's a good chance that Michael might pursue Susanna, and Lillian wouldn't mind.

Thinking about this, Aaron, who usually kept his cool, started to freak out. He felt like he was losing Susanna all over again.

Susanna looked at Aaron mockingly and said, "Mr. Abbott, how dare you question me?"

What right did he have to be so bossy? Why should she care about his opinion?

Just as she was about to speak, Michael stepped in, "Mr. Abbott, Susanna doesn't need to ask for your opinion on this. After all, you're the one with the least say in this."

Aaron shot back coldly, "This is between Susanna and me."

Michael stepped up and got in Aaron's face, "But when Susanna was fighting for the baby in the hospital, I was the one there, doing everything to protect her and the kid. Susanna was bedridden for a month, going through hell to keep the baby. What right do you have to decide anything about the child?"

Aaron didn't back down, "I didn't know any of this back then. If I had, I would've been there for her and the baby."

"Yeah, right. You had Erica with you at the time. You might fool others with that talk, but I won't let you get close to Susanna and hurt her again."

Michael had seen Susanna's suffering four years ago and wasn't about to let Aaron waltz back in and claim he could make it all better for Susanna and Lillian.

Aaron pressed his lips together and looked at Susanna. "I missed a lot back then, so I want to..."

"But I don't need you to fix it," Susanna cut him off, "Mr. Abbott, I'm doing just fine now, so I don't need you to do anything."

Michael chimed in, "Money, status, medical care—Susanna's got it all. What makes you think you can make it up to her? What do you have to offer?"

Aaron was left speechless.

Susanna stepped forward and grabbed Michael's arm. "Michael, don't you have something to take care of? Go ahead, I'll wait for you for dinner."

Michael nodded, "Alright, I'll be back soon. Call me if you need anything."

After Michael left, Susanna turned to Aaron and said, "You should go."

Aaron froze at her words.

After a moment, he said in a low voice, "I might have been a bit harsh earlier. Don't take it to heart."

"I don't really care about that, but you shouldn't have spoken to Michael that way. You owe him an apology."

"You want me to apologize to Michael?"

Aaron looked at her in disbelief, his eyes wide with shock, feeling like his heart was being squeezed.

Why should he apologize to Michael?

Susanna looked at him seriously and said, "Because if it weren't for Michael, I wouldn't have been able to keep the baby. Thanks to him, the baby was born safely. That's why I made Michael the godfather."

Because Michael saved Charles and Lillian's lives!

Aaron was silent for a while, feeling a tightness in his chest. "I'll buy something to thank him later."

"I don't need you to buy things to show gratitude, but you need to respect Michael. The baby wasn't in good health after birth, and it was Michael who found ways to treat him."

Susanna had always been grateful to Michael.

Aaron was frustrated. "There are great doctors in Lindwell too. You could bring Lillian back."

Susanna immediately showed a mocking expression. "Do you think that's possible? Aaron, it seems you haven't changed at all over the years."

Still so arrogant!

Why should she send Charles and Lillian to Lindwell?

She had fought so hard to take Charles and Lillian away from the Abbott family. There was no way she would leave them there now.

At that moment, Michael hurriedly ran out of the elevator and walked up to Susanna, extending his hand. "Susanna, come with me."

Just as Susanna was about to step forward, Aaron also extended his hand to her.
