Chapter 206 Crazy World
Susanna took a moment to find her voice. "Daniel, are you kidding me?"
"I never joke."
Susanna was frustrated. "So, you haven't seen Aaron yet, have you?"
"I just saw him, then came to pick you up from school," Daniel replied.
Susanna felt things were spiraling out of control.
She should've cleared things up with Daniel earlier; none of this would be happening.
She turned to him, incredulous. "Daniel, why didn't you clue me in on this big deal?"
"Susanna, it's something I should handle for you. You don't need to worry. Leaving with nothing isn't an option. Asking for money doesn't make you a gold-digger. Men push that idea to keep women from asking. In the end, they benefit," Daniel said firmly.
Susanna sighed. "I know you're looking out for me, Daniel, but things with Aaron are complicated. It's not like other divorces."
"There's no difference, Susanna. I'll make sure you get the best deal."
Susanna felt exhausted. "Daniel, the conditions you listed—asking Aaron for all his shares, billions in cash, real estate, stock in the subsidiaries. How did you find all this out?"
She knew the Abbott family's wealth. Aaron's shares alone were incredibly valuable. How could she even think about asking for all the Abbott Group shares?
Daniel replied calmly, "You know what I do for a living."
"Daniel, the Abbott family would never agree to these terms."
Just as she finished, Daniel said, "No, Aaron agreed."
Susanna was shocked. "Aaron agreed? That's impossible!"
"He even signed it. If you don't believe me, take a look," Daniel said.
Susanna flipped to the last page and saw the familiar signature, strong and powerful.
She was taken aback. 'How did he agree to this? Is he out of his mind?'
Daniel looked at the traffic light ahead. "Aaron's not a good guy, but he's generous in divorce. He didn't even look before signing. He really trusts you."
He didn't even look before signing, just as she thought.
She knew Aaron's personality. How could he agree to such harsh terms?!
Susanna found Aaron's behavior inexplicable. "How did you talk to him? Why did Aaron sign without even looking?"
It was completely unlike Aaron.
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "I wrote it that way, not expecting him to agree. It's a negotiation tactic, but I didn't expect him to sign without looking. He probably thought it was a property division agreement you drafted. That's why I said he trusts you."
Suddenly, Susanna was at a loss for words. How had she not realized the extent of Aaron's trust in her?
She looked at the signed agreement in her hand, feeling conflicted.
"Susanna, you don't need to show up for any of this. I'll handle it," Daniel said.
"Daniel, there's something I didn't tell you. Before I married Aaron, I signed a prenuptial agreement. None of this property has anything to do with me," Susanna stated.
"What?"
Daniel pulled the car over, looking at her in disbelief. "Susanna, did you really sign that document?"
"Yes."
Daniel cursed, "No wonder he signed so easily."
Daniel, the top lawyer in Novaria, had been outsmarted by Aaron.
Susanna tried to comfort him. "Daniel, it's not your fault. I never wanted anything. Let's just leave it."
Daniel stayed silent, unable to stomach the situation.
"Daniel, please promise me, don't go to Aaron about the property division anymore. I just want to leave the Abbott family," Susanna pleaded.
She was already taking what she deemed the most crucial asset, and the rest didn't matter to her.
Daniel saw the pleading look in her eyes and finally sighed. He now understood what Austin meant when he said, "Susanna begged me! Can you refuse she?"
He really couldn't refuse!
But agreeing to Susanna left him feeling indignant.
After Susanna put away the documents and returned home, she acted as if nothing had happened.
It wasn't until she lay in bed after dinner that she glanced at the property division agreement and mustered the courage to call Aaron.
But no one answered.
At that moment, Aaron was in a private room at an upscale bar, surrounded by empty bottles.
When Sam arrived, he was shocked. "Aaron, what's going on with you?"
It had been years since he had seen Aaron drink like this.
Sam sat on the couch. "Is it the end of the world or something?"
Aaron simply pulled off his tie, his shirt hanging loosely on his chest, looking utterly disheveled. He didn't say a word, just raised his hand and downed another bottle of red wine.
Sam was scared out of his wits and quickly pulled Tyler aside. "What's going on?"
"The boss is about to go bankrupt."
Sam was shocked. "That's impossible, the Abbott Group going bankrupt? I haven't heard anything about that."
"Because the boss just signed a divorce property division agreement," Tyler explained.
"Oh, that shouldn't lead to bankruptcy."
"The boss gave all his shares to Mrs. Abbott," Tyler added.
Hearing this, Sam was stunned. "What? Is he crazy?"
Tyler explained the whole situation, and even he hadn't expected it to turn out this way.
After hearing everything, Sam found it even more unbelievable and glanced back at Aaron. "You can discuss this with a lawyer. Remember, Susanna signed a prenup. She won't get a cent in the divorce. And you're crumbling over this?"
This wasn't like Aaron at all!
Aaron put down the wine bottle, the red liquid trickling down his neck. His throat moved slightly, and his eyes were filled with complex emotions. "You don't understand!"
"I really don't. A divorce property division agreement is such an important document, and you didn't even look at it before signing. Is this the cautious Aaron I know? Such a rookie mistake shouldn't happen to you," Sam said, genuinely baffled.
Aaron leaned back on the couch, his long legs stretched out on the floor, as if he was sinking into the black sofa.
Aaron croaked, "Do you think I understand?"
Sam looked puzzled, asking, "You signed it, right? How could you not understand? What were you thinking at the time?"
"I wasn't thinking anything!" Aaron shouted. His hand gripped the wine bottle tightly, his gaze darkening.
He had never made such a big mistake because of a woman.
He hadn't realized how much Susanna had affected him, and that was what he couldn't understand the most!
Sam spoke loudly, "Aaron, could it be that you've fallen for Susanna?"
