Chapter 232 What are you doing?

Susanna watched as Aaron tore up the prenup, her eyes narrowing.. "What the hell are you doing?" she blurted out.

Aaron held the torn pieces, his face serious. "We don't need this."

Susanna noticed a change in his tone, remembering what he said at the hospital. She quickly caught on and lowered her head, speaking softly, " I wouldn't take a penny from you even without this. Let's find time this week to get the divorce done."

She tried to leave, but Aaron grabbed her wrist, his hand warm.

Her heartbeat went haywire, and she stammered, "What are you doing?"

Aaron's voice was low. "Susanna, I misunderstood you before. I didn't know about this prenup. I don't think we need to get a divorce."

Hearing those words again, Susanna was stunned. Slowly, clarity washed over her, and she looked up, emotions swirling in her eyes. With a hint of relief, she said, "If you'd said this six months ago, or even a few months back, I would've been thrilled. But now..."

"What about now?"

Seeing her smile, Aaron felt a bad premonition.

Her eyes were resolute. "Now I think we do need a divorce."

"If it's about the child, don't worry. I said I'd treat the child as my own, and I will," Aaron promised.

Susanna shook her head, determined. "The child is important, but it's not the main issue. Aaron, I married you because I admired you. I want a partnership based on genuine harmony, not just settling."

Aaron looked at her, a hint of vulnerability in his eyes. "If you're asking me to fall in love with you, I can't promise that. But I can assure you, you'll have all the privileges of being Mrs. Abbott, with everything shared between us."

To Aaron, sharing interests was the key to a lasting relationship.

"But I don't need that. I want to marry for love, not for anything else," Susanna murmured.

She knew he didn't want a divorce now because of Maria, but she didn't want to settle.

In the end, Aaron fell silent.

Susanna pulled her hand away. "Mr. Abbott, let's part on good terms."

As Aaron took in Susanna's words, a wave of despondency hit him. He fidgeted with his tie, feeling the weight of the situation. Despite his efforts, he realized he might not be able to hold on to her.

Emotions were foreign territory for him, and the uncertainty gnawed at him. Unable to contain his turmoil, he asked, "Are you rushing to wrap up your obligations just to take the child to Novaria with Austin?"

Susanna's face changed instantly. How did he know about her plan?

Seeing the shift in her demeanor, Aaron knew he was right, but felt even more helpless. "Susanna, the Jones family's situation is probably more tangled than ours. Moving to Novaria might not be the best idea. Staying with the Abbott family might be better."

At least with the Abbott family, she had Maria and him to protect her.

"This is my choice!"

Susanna decided to live with her brothers, but she was puzzled by Aaron's insight into the Jones family's affairs. How did he know so much? Had he investigated her?

Yet, amidst her thoughts, Susanna realized Aaron didn't know about her connection to Austin. Was this a stroke of luck or a missed opportunity?

She looked up at him. "Then I'll be going."

"Wait, take these things with you," Aaron said.

Susanna turned back to see the packed items, probably clothes. The crib and stroller had likely been sent ahead.

She paused, thinking, "Why not just give these back? Taylor's not around to notice."

Aaron's brows furrowed, a mix of puzzlement and mild offense. "Do you doubt  afford this stuff?? Keep them. Since you're leaving, consider it a gift for the baby."

Susanna was momentarily stunned. A gift for the child? Hadn't Aaron always expressed his aversion to kids? She couldn't quite grasp his intentions.

She lowered her eyes. "But there's still a long time before the baby is born, and no one around me knows I'm pregnant. I don't want to take these home so early."

Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly.

Could it be that Austin didn't know she was pregnant either? Was she wary of Austin too?

Feeling a wave of relief, Aaron's tone softened. "Well then, just leave them with me for now. You can pick them up whenever you're ready."

"We'll see. If you have a child in the future, you can use them too," Susanna said.

Aaron frowned. "I said I wouldn't have biological children."

Seeing his firm stance, Susanna was even more reluctant to tell him the truth about the baby. She didn't want the child to grow up in a loveless environment.

After leaving the mall, Susanna went straight to school to study, as exams were approaching.

"Susanna?"

Hearing someone call her, Susanna looked up to see Wendy. "Wendy, what have you been busy with these past few days? You didn't reply to my messages. I got an autograph from your idol last time. If you had come, you could have taken a photo with them."

"Sorry, I got caught up with something at home," Wendy explained, a tinge of guilt in her voice. "What have you been up to recently?"

"I'm busy with exams, trying to graduate early. You know I've been delayed for years because I didn't have enough social and elective credits."

"Susanna, what are your plans after graduation?"

"I plan to go to Novaria," Susanna replied.

When she mentioned Novaria, a slight smile appeared on her face, thinking of her family there.

After chatting for a while, Wendy excused herself to the restroom and secretly called Erica. "Ms. Jones, I found out Susanna's plans. She intends to move to Novaria after getting her diploma."

"Move to Novaria? Are you sure that's what she said?" Erica gripped her phone tightly. Susanna was planning to go to Novaria?

Could it be that Susanna remembered something, or had the Jones family discovered Susanna's identity?

It was impossible. If the Jones family had found the real person, they would have announced it long ago.

Erica spoke coldly, "Find out why Susanna is going to Novaria, and do it quickly. We can't waste time."

They had to know the reason before Susanna went to Novaria. If things were heading in the worst direction, they had to act first!

Driving straight to the hospital after the call, Erica was determined to find Austin. She had a plan to test the Joneses.

Locating Austin in his office, she approached him casually. "Austin, are you busy?"

"A bit. What do you want?" Austin's attitude was still very cold.

Erica took a deep breath and said, "Austin, I have good news for you. I found the real heir of the Jones family."
