Chapter 155 Don't Talk Bad About People Behind Their Backs
Susanna clicked her tongue, thinking today might be an unlucky day.
She went to work overtime at Epic Horizon, only to run into Dick's mother at a restaurant, then bump into Aaron, and even drink the wrong wine.
Susanna thought she should check if it was a lucky day before going out in the future.
Aaron was standing outside the walk-in closet at this moment, tall and slender, looking at Susanna, who was badmouthing him inside.
At that moment, he seemed to reminisce about a time long ago when, upon returning home from work, she would stand dutifully by his side, trailing him like a faithful shadow to the bedroom closet, even laying out the clothes he would wear for the evening.
Having gotten used to her presence, he had felt something was off during this period but couldn't quite put his finger on it.
Now, seeing Susanna standing in the closet, he realized what had been missing.
Aaron's eyes looked at Susanna as he spoke indifferently, "Can't got your tongue? Weren't you just talking smoothly?"
Susanna said, "Well, actually, I rarely talk behind people's backs."
"Keep pretending! Did I hear wrong just now?"
Susanna replied earnestly, "No, Mr. Abbott, you didn't hear wrong. I usually badmouth people to their faces."
After she finished speaking, she saw Aaron's face instantly darken.
Brenda sensed something was wrong and quickly shrank her neck and left the closet, hoping not to get involved.
Observing Aaron's discontented expression, Susanna suddenly felt a sense of satisfaction.
Three years had passed, and Susanna had learned the art of pleasing Aaron, which also meant she knew exactly how to provoke him.
She had been submissive for three years and then ruthlessly abandoned by Aaron. Why should she accommodate him and please him now?
Aaron naturally noticed the cunning hidden in her eyes, knowing she was doing it on purpose.
He said softly, "When have I ever been picky and hard to please? Your taste was so bad before, but I never made things difficult for you."
"Who was it that said I couldn't tell colors apart, that I was colorblind? Just because I chose a slightly darker color for the bed sheets? And you wore shoes that didn't fit well, causing blisters, so I searched through numerous stores to find the right ones for you, only for you to say they didn't suit your status," Susanna retorted.
There were countless such instances, and you call that not making things difficult?" She added.
Susanna said a lot in one breath, voicing all her past grievances.
But Aaron didn't say a word. She glanced at Aaron's expression, his eyes very serious, clearly angry.
'Alright, he's angry,' she said to herself.
If he weren't angry, it would mean her words hadn't had the desired effect.
Aaron said calmly, "To be honest, the Brenda you taught isn't great. Might as well let her go."
Susanna frowned. "Brenda has improved a lot, Mr. Abbott. Don't you know how picky you are?"
'Is he trying to threaten me ny Brenda?'
Aaron leaned against the closet door, his cold eyes quietly watching her. "If Brenda isn't good enough, you can help me match my clothes yourself. I only care about the result, not the process."
'He wanted me to match his clothes?'
Susanna snorted coldly, "I'm a designer now, not free of charge."
"Ten thousand dollars," Aaron said.
"Am I that money-hungry?"
"Thirty thousand dollars."
"Mr. Abbott, do you have money to burn? How could I possibly coordinate outfits for my ex-husband!" Susanna exclaimed.
Aaron said, "One hundred thousand."
Susanna swallowed the words she was about to say and spoke, "One hundred thousand per time, no modifications."
Aaron smirked, "Weren't you just refusing?"
"Yes, but then again, I'm a designer after all. Why not take an order that's handed to me?" Susanna retorted.
Matching clothes for her ex-husband wasn't impossible, but it had to be for a price!
One hundred thousand per match was a great deal.
Aaron handed his phone to the maid directly. "Just get the clothes matched. I have other things to do."
Susanna gritted her teeth and said, "Pay first."
Aaron took out his phone and transferred the money to her immediately.
Seeing the one hundred thousand dollars in her account, Susanna took a deep breath and put on a professional smile. "Mr. Abbott, do you have any specific requirements for the outfit? What occasion is it for?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow, amazed at how quickly she could change her expression. He answered indifferently, "For a business dinner this weekend."
After saying that, Aaron left the bedroom.
Susanna leaned against the side, thinking for a moment. For a business dinner, she certainly knew what to wear.
But if she really did it, she couldn't swallow her anger.
Looking at the one hundred thousand dollars in her account, she suddenly had an idea as she instructed, "Brenda, open the bottom drawer. There's a bright red suit. Pair it with this and that, and just leave it there."
Brenda looked at the bright red clothes, asking, "Will this work?"
She had never seen Mr. Abbott wear clothes in such bright colors before; it was mostly black, white, and gray.
"Don't worry. Just listen to me. After all, I matched the clothes, and you don't need to worry."
Susanna knew very well that Aaron wouldn't wear this outfit.
She was doing it on purpose.
Since he trusted her so much, she had to disappoint him once.
After matching the clothes, Susanna left the marital villa in a good mood.
Feeling a bit hungry, she hailed a cab back to her apartment complex and stopped by a store to order a Grilled Steak.
But just as she was about to eat, she heard Austin's voice behind her. "Susanna, what are you eating here?"
When Susanna heard Austin's voice, her back tensed momentarily. She pivoted to find Austin stepping out of his car, prompting her to offer an awkward smile. "I was feeling a bit peckish, so I decided to come out for a late-night snack."
She certainly couldn't tell Austin she hadn't had dinner, or she'd get scolded again.
Austin got out of the car and walked up to her, also ordering a Grilled Steak, "Seeing you eat made me hungry too."
Seeing that Austin wasn't angry, Susanna finally relaxed.
After eating the grilled steak face to face, they walked back to the apartment complex side by side. Susanna knew Austin also had an apartment in the complex, so she wasn't surprised to run into him outside.
"Susanna, why do I feel like you don't look so well today?"
Susanna instinctively touched her face and chuckled, "Really? Maybe I've been too tired from work lately."
"Susanna, you're pregnant now, with two babies. I think you should stop working and just focus on finishing your studies," suggested Austin.
Susanna thought for a moment. "I got it, Austin. I'll talk to Dick."
She also felt that work was becoming too much, especially with Dick's intentions and what Harper had said, making it hard for her to handle.
To avoid further misunderstandings, she thought it best to keep her distance from Dick.
Austin patted her on the head, then said, "Susanna, being a single mother isn't easy for a girl. Are you sure you want to have Aaron's children?"
